If bread had a real housewife's tagline, what would it be?
Speaker 2It's severed because it's for the lab.
Speaker 1What's it? Do you know what severed means? I don't want any change. I've seen 6'7 in the bedroom. In the bedroom? That's 69.
Speaker 2Hold on. I don't want to go into it because we wanted to review it.
SpeakerI do. Carl is a mess. Carl is a mess.
Speaker 2Oh my god, I love that so.
SpeakerNot necessarily lesbian, but Charlie Sheen's been out in the world with his new memoir and documentary unnecessary. I would say correct. Because I do like a foamy espresso martini. I enjoy the like dunking of my teabag. Oh my god, I can't. It's slip it in, the combo that has you upset. We're talking pop culture, bad choices, obviously things that should stay in the group chat.
Speaker 2But they don't laugh. You'll cringe. Oh my god, they really just say that always.
SpeakerAnd yeah, we slip it in.
Speaker 2Every single video.
SpeakerOh my god, I love that.
Speaker 1I do too. So great. That was a little surprise. Thank you, producer JJ.
One Year Anniversary Reflection
SpeakerI love it. Welcome, welcome, welcome, everyone.
Speaker 2Welcome. It's a special episode. I had to do something different.
SpeakerIt's our 50th episode and one-year anniversary.
Speaker 2Yeah.
SpeakerSo we're back.
Speaker 2What a little trip about like down memory line.
SpeakerI loved it. It was so funny.
Speaker 1And we're doing it on video. Yep. We are.
SpeakerWelcome to our new YouTube channel. Check it out. Check us out. We're gonna have video clips.
Speaker 1Probably more guests on our streets. Because we can do the video from the with them from afar.
SpeakerExciting times. Yes, it has been quite a journey of love, fun, journey, laughs, and some borderline tears. Oh borderline? No, what is a borderline?
Speaker 1I crossed over the border. Yeah.
SpeakerBut honestly, I wouldn't change anything about the last year. Well, okay, one thing. I kind of wish we were in Savannah recording right now because when we went live a year ago, we were in Savannah. So I forgot that unfortunately there. We're here in Detroit.
Speaker 2It's a cold.
SpeakerCome on.
Speaker 2It's been a cold uh spring weather. Yeah, yeah.
SpeakerWell, I love being a Detroiter.
Speaker 2Yeah.
SpeakerSo I'm happy to be here recording. It's our home base. We love being a Detroit-based podcast. And we hope in the next year we're gonna bring even more fun, happy Detroit Michigan. Attention to Detroit. Yeah, and all the things Michigan things.
Speaker 1You know what I found in this last year, which is really weird. You might find this weird, but I feel like the pod has changed me in the sense of like we don't just get together and record and then the pod shuts off. And this is gonna sound silly, but I remember when Taylor Swift did an interview, and she's a the songwriter, right? Like, and she says that she can't shut off in her head, like everything she hears could be a lyric. And she will she carries a book or whatever her source is and she writes it down, and it's like always she's like, I cannot shut it off for better or worse. She's like, it these ideas come and I've got to capture them. And I feel like that's the weirdest thing that has changed for me in the year. Like I we get together, we do our recordings, but when we leave, everything is like I'll go into the world, and I'll be like, Well, that's a slip it off, that's a pull it out, or like that could be something we talk about, and again, for better or worse, because it's like oh shut it off for a second, but then also like wow, there's so much we could talk about. That's I don't know. Absolutely, yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, I think that one thing that I've um like reflecting a little bit about what Slip It In has taught me in the last year is, and I don't want to be or sound selfish, but it has taught me a lot about myself and the confidence that I can actually bring in and what what part of Slip It In I am. Uh I think that as uh um you know somebody that has like English as their second language, there is constant doubt. And you both have been giving me the platform to be able to just be myself and even like laugh as uh like does JJ know it? Um bring that in. And I'm I think that there is that moment of like, do I have to prove myself? Like, not really.
Speaker 1I just be you, yeah. Exactly. I mean, that's what I mean. You bring a certain sense of charm to the podcast.
Speaker100%. But I mean, you know, you're just like Taylor. We all got the Visa, you're just like Taylor Swift, as I am as Matty. Oh, I mean, yeah, we're I love it.
Speaker 1Yeah, do you agree with that? No, I do I do, and I love everything can be content now, yeah.
Thrifted Gifts With Inside Lore
SpeakerOf 100, oh everything is content, especially in this, our little sphere. Yes, absolutely.
Speaker 1Um, this is kind of a premature slip it in. Um, I'll phrase it that way. But like I did a little something for you guys in honor of the one-year anniversary and the 50th. Um but the slip it in part of it is I don't know if I've talked about this in any of the previous episodes, but I love I love thrift shopping. I just love it. I love a good thrift, and you can find so many treasures. So I went out on a treasure hunt? Yes. I'm like, okay, it's the 50th episode, one year anniversary. Like, I'm gonna see if I can just find them. I'm gonna go to one place, and I my goal was I will find something. Yeah, okay. Okay, it could go in. Yeah, so you each actually you each actually have two items. Oh wow.
SpeakerI'm gonna go from one spot. I yeah, on eyes.
Speaker 1Okay, so the first item I'm gonna go with JJ.
Speaker 2Oh.
Speaker 1Look at oh my god. I've got look at this $5.99. Listen, I these are pre-come. I don't think they're in camera.
Speaker 2Can you show them?
Speaker 1Where's my camera? There we go. Where's my camera? So this is 30 watercolor paints. Everything this is not the price I paid, even though $5.99. Everything was something off of that. But I think we've talked, I want to tie it back to the the podcast. Yeah, in particular, um, I tried to find chalk, they didn't have it. I wasn't gonna go to another location, never let them take you to the second location. Right. But this reminded me of you, you're very artistic. JJ does all of like the um the images that we you see on uh Instagram and on TikTok, JJ Facebook, JJ's behind that. He's so creative, both digital art and just he watercolor you've done, right? So this is not a stretch for you. Um, so there you go. I love that.
Speaker 2Can I just say something? Yeah, of course. So in our last trip to Grand Rapids together, we went to this little shop called Rebel with our friend Melissa. Yes, and I saw a watercolor set there.
Speaker 1Really?
Speaker 2Yes, and uh because I haven't done watercolor in a while. Okay, so I immediately went to Amazon and favored it and put it on my list. Really? Yes, like this is like 100%. Wow, and I'm like, I should get back to it when I have time, type of thing. Okay, so this is a few things.
Speaker 1And look at this, this is why I love thrifting. Like that was probably three dollars, and there's 30 watercolors in there.
Speaker 2Okay, thank you so much.
Speaker 1You're welcome, Megan. What I got you is a giant cellular calculator.
SpeakerOh my god. I can't with that.
Speaker 1And let me take you back to episode 49, in which I reflected back on the episode after I listened to it. Listen, what I reflected back on and listened to it.
Speaker 2Yeah, I have some reflexes as well.
Speaker 1And I'm like, we are gonna be, I teased this episode, in fact. I said it's episode 50. We've been on for a year, and and I said, which makes sense because there's 52 weeks in the year, but we didn't record for two weeks. And she's like, no. And I'm like, I don't what do you mean? No, it's not coming from January. She like she was like doing it from January.
SpeakerI'm like, I just no, I thought you were I was doing it from May, like May to December 31st, yeah, 2025. I just like a year. I didn't that was that. Acquiesced.
Speaker 1I acquiesced. I'm like, I okay. Acquiesce?
Speaker 2What's that?
Speaker 1Like well, oh does JJ know it? Right on cue. Like, like uh, I just gave in. I just I didn't have the allergy acquiesced.
SpeakerOh, but it did kind of we started the new year, January, as season two, right? So we have kind of convoluted what it is.
Speaker 1I mean, there's calendar years and then there's fiscal years.
SpeakerYeah, yeah. Well, no, fiscal years aren't appropriate here. Fiscal years can be anything.
Speaker 2Then I'm it could be a school.
Speaker 1Anyway, yeah, regardless of that episode, we've been here before. I remember specifically there was an episode where she put her hands out and she's like, four, three, I do sometimes count on my kids.
SpeakerAnd she's gonna calculate.
Speaker 1And you can find clips in which she says out loud, well, I'm not good at maths. I'm not the best of them. You can keep this, and just so you know, Miss Evelyn Waldecker owned this.
SpeakerOh my god, her name's on it.
Speaker 1That's she had her name, she had a little label $2.99. I can't either full price. I can't either. Okay. Did you bargain? No, I didn't bargain. But one more, I'm gonna go with you. Thank you. I'm gonna you can so JJ got watercolors, you got a calculator, but Megan, I'm coming back to you. Okay, this is your second gift. Okay, I think you'll like this one. This is more your legit gift, and I loved in 49. You brought it up again. Look at this Starbucks. Oh, yes.
SpeakerStarbucks mug. Yes, very nice. She loves it.
Speaker 1How many episodes have we talked about Starbucks? And she was she was in the rewards. The rewards are back. They fucked her and then they came back around. Yes. And last week it was um the four characters from something.
SpeakerDevil's wears Prada. Devil's Wears Devil Wears Prada.
Speaker 1Devils Wears Pradus. Yeah, so there you go. Thank you. I love it. You're welcome. And JJ, this last gift is for you.
Speaker 3True.
Speaker 1This is it for you. You have a pair of short shorts.
SpeakerOh my god.
Speaker 1Short shorts with those. JJ loves short shorts. And I they rang up on the receipt as children's. So I'm not sure. Oh my god.
Speaker 2I want to see if they are five-inch or not. Oh well.
SpeakerWell, I don't even think they're gonna say they're crazy.
Speaker 2They are made from El Salvador.
Speaker 1Oh, well, there you go. There you go. So short shorts. If you dare wear, I know. I mean, I don't really expect you to wear those, but it's just a token.
Speaker 2So it is a token.
Speaker 1It's a reflection on some of the past episodes. If you haven't caught up, you'll find this content within some of and a lot more.
SpeakerI love it. Well, thank you.
Speaker 1So thrift away. I'm gonna go do some more thrifting. So more to come.
SpeakerI love it. Well, just so you know, there's a lot of Detroit-based thrifters that are on social media where you can follow them and they go on their different treasure finds throughout Detroit. Yeah. Well, wait.
Speaker 1Oh, sorry. I wasn't mean saying wait to you. I was just like, wait a minute. I was gonna say wait a minute, and then did you want to go?
Speaker 2Yes, go just quickly. Yeah, please. Um, I was just telling Matty, Megan, I don't know if you know this, but I met with some friends a few weeks ago, and as soon as they knew that I lived in the city that I live around here in Detroit, they were like, Oh my god, you live there. They have one of the best um thrift stores in Berkley, they have found cashmere for twelve dollars.
SpeakerOh wow, I love it. Where is it? What's the thrift store?
Speaker 2It is called Council in Berkeley. Like the name. It is like this I've seen that from the friends that I just met, they go religiously every Monday because they have shipments. Oh, good to know. They close down Sundays because they are receiving donations constantly. They have bought cashmere for like twelve, fifteen dollars.
Speaker 1I love it.
Speaker 2In there.
Speaker 1You can. I mean, this is the joy of it. It's and when you find the treasure, yeah. I was I would do a full thrifting day with you two if you want. We could speak everything is content, right? I bet we would have a riot and we could play little games. We could be like, I'm gonna go in here and we each buy each other something or whatever.
Speaker 2Give you $25, that's what you're gonna get.
Speaker 1Yeah, and that's yeah. I bought well, I bought some stuff for myself too. I mean, I bought probably $200 worth of stuff for $30. For $30.
Send It Or End It Texting Game
SpeakerOh, I thought you spent $200 a month. Jeez, wow, you bought a lot. No, no, no. Well, I think with that, I wanna kind of play a fun little I don't know, game or just like scenario situation all around kind of social media and texting. So if you've got a paddle, I'm gonna ask you some questions and you need to say whether you're going to send it or end it. Oh, okay send it as in send the message, like send a text, send a DM, uh respond, whatever, or end it. Like block or like block or you're not, yeah, but like whatever your scenario would be. Okay, and we've got our paddles. Yep. Oh, it's a little blur. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1So there we go. Hold it down like this. You get it. Yeah.
SpeakerOkay. So let me start with this. You see you up at 1 47 a.m. from someone you went on a date with two months ago.
Speaker 1Wait, before you go one, two, three. You see you up. What does that mean?
SpeakerYou see in your text or I'm awake.
Speaker 2Are you awake?
SpeakerIt says you up, question mark. Oh, got it. You up question mark. That means that that's a at 1 47 a.m. What night of the week? Uh let's say it's a Saturday.
Speaker 1Okay, I'm probably up. Okay.
SpeakerFrom someone you went on a date with two months ago. What do you do?
Speaker 1Oh.
SpeakerDo you send a response or do you end it? I'm not gonna with a block or a no response.
Speaker 1I'm not gonna keep it going, but I have questions, but we can do it after the one, two, three. Because I think mine is a caveat. Okay. But go.
SpeakerOh, I didn't know I needed to count. I thought you would just respond. Okay. One, two, three. End it.
Speaker 1Oh, wow. Okay.
Speaker 2Ding ding. Ding ding. Yeah.
Speaker 1I ended it the assumption if two months ago it was a day. Right. Because that means for whatever reason, my end or his end were still not seeing each other. So that sounds like a booty call. Kind of. Well, kind of. It's 1.47 in the morning.
SpeakerMy scenario doesn't go into have you been texting extensively since? But you've just never seen each other. I don't know.
Speaker 1Yeah, I'm not getting involved. Okay. Gonna end that.
SpeakerYeah, I mean, I probably would too, because even if I have been talking to you, unless one of us was like really out of the country or trapped, like, what's the point? Like, we should have had a proper date before I get a you up text.
Speaker 1But if you are texting me and I am still awake at 147, I could have had a night out. And so my yeah, but the my uh inhibitions could be lowered or it could be a little, and maybe I would respond.
SpeakerWell, and you up could just be responding, but it doesn't necessarily mean they're coming over.
Speaker 1Well, it insinuates it does insinuate a come over, not just and I'm like, I don't want to get up and like clean myself.
SpeakerClean yourself.
Speaker 1Well, get prepared. Make myself presentable.
SpeakerWell, if you just walked in from the bar, but then it does go to like what's the state of your home in?
Speaker 1Like is it so many what is. Yeah.
SpeakerAnd like you don't want to start texting if they're like, oh, I'm outside, I'm just walking home from the bar and I'm a block away. Yeah, well, that's what I'm kind of thinking. Like you kind of want your, yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah. Okay.
SpeakerSo, okay, number two. So they like your story, but haven't texted you back in 11 days. So you post a person that you've been let's say uh you've been out with before. They like your story, but they haven't texted back in 10 in 11 days. So they like a story you posted on social media.
unknownOkay.
SpeakerBut you last texted them 11 days ago with no response.
Speaker 1And then what am I supposed to do? What are you gonna do?
SpeakerAre you gonna respond or are you gonna end it? One, two, three.
Speaker 1Um, send it, but I'm gonna say this. I have no idea who likes my stories.
Speaker 2Maddie's relationship with stories. Listen, that is another cat of worms. I just thought it about close friends. Oh my god. Like a couple weeks ago.
Speaker 1So I just said to JJ yesterday. I'm like, I had a TikTok like come through. I'm like, JJ, I have 79 likes. I thought I went no, I thought I thought I went viral.
SpeakerNo, it was well, 79 likes is not viral, my dear.
Speaker 1Well, in a one hour span, I thought maybe, because I just posted somewhere, whatever. It was the history of every video JJ had sent me over the course of the last two weeks.
SpeakerOh my god.
unknownYeah.
Speaker 1So I don't know. Like I post a story, I don't track anybody's engagement with it.
Speaker 2Well, and you were probably around us when he was trying to post something today.
SpeakerYes.
Speaker 2And I had to stop him and say, just FYI, because you're posting it now on TikTok. The same story did not translate because I can see him reposting the same story again on Instagram.
Speaker 1But you did FYI and FYP.
Speaker 2Yeah. Yeah, it's FYP.
Speaker 1There is no FYI.
Speaker 2No.
Speaker 1No, he just said FYI. No, FYI was just for your information. Oh, no, FYI.
SpeakerIt didn't seem like you did.
Speaker 1You guys weren't following me. JJ's commentary was FYI, but what I'm saying is in that moment, you all were on me about FYP.
Speaker 2That's it. That was a part of the story. Which was uh also another. I'm glad that you're bringing in the stories because he's struggling on the story.
SpeakerWell, well, when I was I mean, I look at this as like a dating scenario or even a friend scenario. Like if I had been texting a friend and like was waiting for a response back, but then they're liking my stories, I'd get kind of irritated.
Speaker 1Oh, I see.
SpeakerAnd I do, if I post something, I typically do look to see who liked it. I don't.
Speaker 1I don't, yeah.
SpeakerI like to monitor.
Speaker 1Yeah. I don't know if I can know that.
SpeakerYeah.
Speaker 1So I I don't know if I know how to even see it. I can't.
SpeakerOkay. So you receive a DM from a college crush that says, When I was in college, I had a crush on you, but never said anything. Do you respond? Or do you end it? One, two, three. End it. Wow. I do send it. Wow. JJ's end it in manner sending it.
Speaker 1I like when a ship comes back around.
Speaker 2You do.
Speaker 1Well, just to I do. Just to like, I just don't think I could resist engaging in the conversation and learning more. Not that I would necessarily expect anything from it, but I just I don't think I could let it go and not like, oh my God, this is from so long ago. I need to like tell me more.
SpeakerWell, this scenario just happened to me a few weeks ago. And I tell me more. Well, I will. I responded and said, Yeah, I had a crush on you too.
Speaker 1This this question seemed like a vessel for you to get this information out.
SpeakerWell, because it like I'm you want to name names because I went to the same college as you. Yeah. Uh you wouldn't, you don't know this person. Convenient. Yeah.
Speaker 2Was this person the close friends on Instagram?
SpeakerNo, no, no, no, no, no. No. Um, but it was someone I did have a crush on. And so like I wanted and I wanted to be reciprocal. I mean, I have no intention of acting on or anything.
Speaker 1I mean, because you have a doctor.
SpeakerWell, I'm very happy in my relationship. But like, it doesn't mean I can't acknowledge that back in college, I'm not gonna say how many years ago that yeah, I did too. And then, you know, they responded back with like, oh, what could have been? And I just hearted it and it's it ended up. You heard it. Yeah, because yeah, exactly. Like, I'm not looking. No, I mean, and the person lives in a completely different state. So, like, there was never meant to be anything, and also there were scenarios in college where something could have happened and this person never made a move, and there, you know, it's just it was not meant to be. Like, I'm not interested in them. But like, I like to, you know, acknowledge it because I think it is kind of crazy. I don't know what their intentions were with like putting it out there, but so you responded. Yeah, I was ascendant.
Speaker 1What?
Speaker 2Oh, she was ascendant.
SpeakerI'm going back to the scenario, send it and end it. She didn't keep up with it.
Speaker 1You were ascendant. I was gonna break down the story. So where are where does it live?
SpeakerNo, the like the I just said oh all I heard the and I heard it his response.
unknownOkay.
SpeakerHe said what could have been, and I hearted it.
Speaker 1To end some of it out.
SpeakerWell, there you go. So don't don't try to sum it up when you just miss the whole summary. I know. And JJ, you would end it up.
Speaker 2I would end it. I would end it, yeah. Yes. I mean it's that chip has sale, it's just like it's there's nothing there. What's the point of it?
Speaker 1I don't for me the word end it is weird in this scenario. I mean, like now we were locked into it. I should have used it. But wouldn't you like I wouldn't start anything like romantically, but you don't have wouldn't you have just a tidbit of interest to to understand like okay. No, no, it wouldn't do anything. But you told me actually that you did have somebody remember putting you on the spot here, probably, but there was a guy that you you were both straight or s and then found you later in life and reached out.
Speaker 2Well, it was not about a crush at all. It was just that we rekindle about it was a it was connected to my mom.
Speaker 1Oh, okay.
Speaker 2No, it was not a dating type.
Speaker 1Yeah, trying to make something happen.
Buy It Or Deny It Food Trends
Speaker 2Yeah, no. All right. I do with that, I have a little twist. Um get your paddles out. Okay. Oh, okay. Um, I have uh buy it or deny it.
SpeakerOkay.
Speaker 1Oh I'm ready.
Speaker 2All right, so we are and I'm going with food. Okay.
SpeakerI love it.
Speaker 2Food. Would you buy this or you will partake in this specific food item, or you would just I'm here for it. Our for it. Let's just start out with dirty sodas. Would you buy it? Wait, I'm gonna say 321.
SpeakerOh, sorry.
Speaker 2Wait, are you aware what's no?
Speaker 1I need a definition of dirty sodas.
Speaker 2This started in Utah.
Speaker 1Because vegan. Well, it's true. Listen, we're a podcast for all.
Speaker 2So dirty sodas is a mix of a Diet Coke, vanilla syrup, a splash of cream, over ice. And it's a big crave right now. It started in Utah, Utah, but then the TikTokers are doing it. There's a big influence, there's a big trend on that. Dirty sodas. Okay. Buy it or deny it.
Speaker 1Deny it. Deny it.
unknownOkay.
Speaker 1I don't want cream in my soda. Soda like that.
Speaker 2So you're not into like the diet vanilla?
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2You're not.
Speaker 1I am not.
Speaker 2I've tried it. That's that's how dirty soda is because they really that okay.
SpeakerA diet vanilla I can do.
Speaker 2You can do it.
SpeakerBut that to me isn't dirty as the cream. Vanilla is a flavor.
Speaker 2No, but what I'm saying is that it really there is a blend. There is people that have like not really fully into the dirty sodas that can go into the vanilla because it has somewhat of a taste of a dirty soda without having to go all the way there.
Speaker 1Could it be the beaver?
SpeakerBecause vanilla, Matty, we know. Okay, and it doesn't anymore.
Speaker 1I know, but it is. From years ago, you used to get vanilla flavor from beaver secretions. Look at that. The more you know. Yes.
Speaker 2Yes, we've talked about this. Cue the rainbow. Cue the rainbow. Okay, well, it's a reflection out.
Speaker 1It's a reflection out.
Speaker 2Buy it or deny it. Okay. The new trend of having too many protein young foods. What foods? Chips, popcorns with protein powders, protein craves. Buy it or deny it. Okay. Three, two, one. Oh, buy it. Deny it.
Speaker 1Deny it. Do you want to go first?
SpeakerYeah, I'm always trying to get more protein. So I'm always up for trying a new protein positive food. Yeah. Okay.
Speaker 1Protein presenting. Protein presenting. Um, eat chicken is what I would say. Like, eat fish.
SpeakerYou can't get enough.
Speaker 1I mean, like, it's ridiculous to me. I will say, in my opinion, when you're trying, like, you're gonna take a snack food that's not really gonna give you much nutritional value to begin with, and then think, oh, I'm getting my protein because I'm eating popcorn with protein on it, or chips with protein on it.
SpeakerJust eat well, it's okay. But uh, it's just an opinion. It's not always just popcorn and chips. Like I do, if I get a Starbucks, I do a protein cold foam. Okay, which we got for you in Chicago and you loved it.
Speaker 1That's junk.
SpeakerI don't like it, but I'm just gonna chips, snacks. Oh what did you call it?
Speaker 1Young food?
Speaker 2Junk food. Oh, junk food.
SpeakerOh, I missed it.
Speaker 2Junk food.
SpeakerI missed it. All right, I'm gonna deny it.
Speaker 1I thought you thought it was young food too, and I thought it was like a we're talking about it. I'm talking about generational thing.
SpeakerI also thought it was like new items or even food.
Speaker 1I thought it was maybe Asian, like Y-E-U-N-G.
SpeakerI just thought I'm gonna ignore that and just go with I and I in the upfront.
Speaker 1Okay, junk food.
SpeakerWell, I'm gonna deny it. Plus a J.
Speaker 1That sounds like a Y. I love it. Yeah.
Speaker 2Well, one of the reasons why I'm saying that is because one of our favorite first episodes, we actually uh reviewed cloud popcorn from Chloe. Yeah, she just came out with cloud chips now. Oh, I'm oh I didn't know that potato chips and like uh corn chips.
SpeakerShe did like our she did like the well, I might try those chips, but I'm thinking, I agree with what Maddie says, like no nutritional value. Like I'm looking to add to protein to like an everyday food because honestly, if you're trying to get a lot of protein in, you can't just eat 10 chicken breasts a day. So it's not about just eating more chicken. Period. Okay.
Speaker 2Well buy it or deny it. Matcha obsession. Are you into the matcha obsession? Three, two, one. Deny it. Wow, you guys.
SpeakerI'm not that I've had a few matcha, I don't mind matcha tea. I've had some matcha items, but it's I'm not seeking it out. And it's kind of like Ube to me. I don't need more matcha shit.
Speaker 1I've never had it.
Speaker 2You've never had it.
Speaker 1But why start now?
SpeakerWell, do you like green tea?
Speaker 1Uh-huh.
SpeakerOh, well, then you probably would like matcha. It's just a type of green tea. Oh, it is.
Speaker 1Then I might, yeah, I might try it. And I was trying, I might buy it to try it.
Speaker 2I was opposed to it until I actually tried with one of my coworkers a matcha lavender latte. I hate lavender.
SpeakerI love, you know, just put lavender in it and I love it. Really? And it was pretty good.
Speaker 1I eat lavender everything. I like it a spray on my pillow.
SpeakerA calming. Yeah, it calls it. It is calming, but I don't like the taste of it. My la I make a great lavender brownie. Yeah. And right now, lavender is in season at Starbucks. Oh, well. And use your mug, girl. You can get your lavender syrup. Yeah. Okay.
Speaker 2So that was it for me.
SpeakerAll right.
Speaker 2I love that. A lot of denies.
Speaker 1Well, not in doing that. Well, some of it we didn't understand. I'm just learning the new young trend. Yeah. Junk food. I love it, GG.
SpeakerSee, I heard you're charming. I heard that too, and I'm like, oh, I don't. I'm just gonna go with it.
Hit It Or Quit It Bedroom Habits
Speaker 1Keep moving. Keep it moving. All right, you guys. I'm gonna do uh hit it or quit it. Okay. Okay. And we are gonna focus on bedroom behaviors. But not probably like you think. Well, we'll see. It straddles. Um, all right. Uh hit it or quit it, sleeping naked. Like uh like we all can do it when it requires it, but like on a regular night, you or your partner in a routine daily night, evening. Hit it? No, or quit it.
SpeakerIs it uh summer night or a winter night?
Speaker 1Oh god. Um let's say summer night, just so I can get a true answer. And one, two, three, hit it. I'm not a fan of sleeping.
SpeakerI I don't mind it. If it if it's warm out, I'm okay with it. But if it's cold out, no, I'm too cold.
Speaker 1So I like to have my socks on. Ugh, I can't sleep with them on and then I kick them off in the middle of the night.
SpeakerUgh, I can't have I like my feet out, I don't like socks.
Speaker 1Often I'll go to bed in a full outfit, like sweatpants, shirt, underwear, uh, socks, and then I'll wake up with just the underwear. So through the course of the night, I take things off.
SpeakerThat's not good for your sleep that you're certainly not.
Speaker 1Certainly I'm exhausted. I'm exhausted. Exactly. And in the morning, I'm like, where are we? What they have over here, over there.
Speaker 2Yeah. Um, I am all year long um naked in bed. Yeah, I just changed my sheets to be a little bit fuzzy, which we've talked about it on the pod. And I I start it's naked with socks on.
SpeakerOh god. You two with these socks.
Speaker 1I have to start with what about a really I can I did say summer, but what about winter? Like when it is cold, even if your heat's on and it's cold, do you still I mean like I love the comfort of like fabric?
SpeakerWell, no, I would wear I wear put pajamas.
Speaker 2Like I shower before bed every night. Every night? Every night.
SpeakerOh wow.
Speaker 2And I have a robe from my bathroom to my bedroom. So I have to put the robe in and I just take the robe. I mean, so that's a transition. So it's a transition. Yeah, I have a routine that I don't but what about winter?
Speaker 1Well, my sheets are just I don't like a fuzzy sheet.
SpeakerYou don't I like a very clean, crisp cotton. I don't I like it to be very smooth. I don't like to any roughness, I don't like.
Speaker 2I like it.
SpeakerNo fuzz.
Speaker 2I'll like it rough in the winter.
Speaker 1All right. Hit it or quit it. You're in a relationship and separate beds is an option. Hit it or quit it. One, two, three.
SpeakerI will hit it.
Speaker 1Hit it! You too, same! I think the I think yes, one hundred percent.
Speaker 2The more I think about it, I think that it's just it's meant to be. I I like I love being single. I'm very comfortable being single. And it but if I would and I love my independency, like I have my own sleep patterns, and and whenever I want to cuddle, I would just like do a little whistle, a little bell to the other room. It's like can you come over?
Speaker 1Come over for a quick cuddle and then get out.
Speaker 2Get out, like immediately get out.
Speaker 1I think like when it comes to the act of just sleeping, I think we all probably can sleep a little bit better when we I don't maybe not. Some people would disagree with us, but like I just I I subscribe.
Speaker 2And if you do disagree, hit us up. Tell us, send us a message.
SpeakerOh, absolutely, yeah. I mean, my preference is to sleep with a partner, but I absolutely will sleep alone too. So I'm okay with it either way.
Speaker 1Okay, and the last one is TV in the bedroom. All right, and three, two, one. Really, JJ is a quit it. Really? Wow, so you didn't like that.
Speaker 2I it's interesting because I was actually talking about it um a couple weeks ago with a coworker because I do have a TV in my bedroom. Okay, but for the past probably three, four months, I have not even turned it on.
Speaker 1So you watch all your TV and when you're ready for bed, you go to bed and no TV. Yes.
Speaker 2So late from bed. So everybody knows and Slippers knows that I'm a big Andy Cohen and John Hill fan. And John Hill started saying that he will take the last five minutes before going to bed. He just he would put his phone on the bathroom.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2And he would just completely disconnect and either read a little bit.
Speaker 1That's always good.
Speaker 2Or just contemplate until his day before he falls asleep. So I've been trying to do that. And it really just helps me. And I I have not even used a sleeping pill in probably a month or two.
Speaker 1Wow, good for you. That's great. Me on the other hand, 9 p.m. 9 p.m. is when I pop the Lunesta and I get in bed and I turn on the TV.
SpeakerI love watching TV in pet. But here's the thing like, I would never feel comfortable not having my phone next to me because I need to be ready for a 911 call if necessary. So the thought of not having my phone by me like would freak me out.
Speaker 1It is there is a point there. Like, there's a point to both. Like separating yourself from technology is good. But then you're right. Like, especially like in my situation right now, where you know, aging parents or whatever, like I would hate to miss a call because it was in the other room, but like it would be nice, also.
Speaker 2Yeah, but it's my phone is on, and I'm uh I'm not a like a full, like heavy sleeper. Yeah, so if the sound will come up, um Matt and I we used to be together. He knows that you know my alarm will come up, and I was just like zombie out. He would zombie out.
Speaker 1But that's interesting. Well, that's actually you're probably practicing the best behavior.
Speaker 2I'm trying, yeah, yeah. Trying.
Speaker 1Good for you. Well, that I learned something new today.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, I love that.
Speaker 1Okay, well, that was fun. Yeah, and the paddles, hopefully visible.
SpeakerWe'll see. Yeah, we'll see. I think it's time for some slip it ins and pull it outs.
Speaker 1Yeah, it is. Um slip it ins and pull it outs. Yep. Iconic. Wouldn't you say?
Speaker 2I would say, and I'm gonna start with saying this my slip it in right now, after 50 episodes in a year, is like when the people around me, friends, co-workers that have like are have become slippers, we are minding our own business, and they are the ones saying, that's a slip it in. It's it just fills my heart. It's just like so great. Um, and it's just yeah, it's I I there is no way to describe it better than just not coming from me, but from them. It's like, especially when it's like that as a pull out.
Speaker 1You know, it's so funny. I can't agree. I love it too. I can't agree more. And in the beginning, I was very secretive about it at work, and then I started to let a couple people in on it, and then they started listening, and then it started to kind of circulate a little bit around the office. And so this happened, what you're talking about happens at work sometimes, too. All of a sudden, somebody like that's a pull it out. I'm like, Oh my god, it's like in my it's blurring into my world, it's so great, yeah.
Speaker 2It is great, and I am actually because of this special episode, I am just gonna do two slip it ins. Oh, right.
SpeakerOh, wow, I love that.
Speaker 2You do you my second slip it in is Maddie and I normalizing ex-best ex-boyfriends being best friends.
SpeakerI love that.
Speaker 2I agree with that. I think that there is not much of that out. Uh, and I was reflecting on that because um Andy, again, Andy and John, they are exes but also best friends, and they were saying that that Andy was actually talking about our you know, the the way that their dynamic is, and he's like, I remember having a conversation and John saying, There is really not much out of out there that exposes that ex-boyfriends can also be best friends, yeah, because we know each other more than anybody else, um, and we made a conscious and adult decision. Um, and I I do like the idea of like regardless of anybody's opinion about it, they don't have to agree with us. We've made a decision ourselves and we've exposed it here, and I think that being able to us normalizing that and be best friends and actually family. I was gonna say, I was give you your like the favorite son.
Speaker 1Well, I was just was gonna say, I mean, like, yes, best friends, but also I just it's it's a family component for me because also like whenever I go home, I mean, and you are away from your family, and your family, you like you've lost your parents, and your family that you have left is in Puerto Rico, and you're you were fam, like they were family to you, you were family to them when we were together, and that didn't have to change, um, in the sense that because we were able to um um manage that and uh weather that little storm or whatever and transition into best friendship family, and so yeah, you're just like you're there at Christmas, you're there for the messages, you get them, I don't. I didn't the other day, JJ's like, what are you gonna do about this invite about Mother's Day? And I was like, I didn't get it.
Speaker 2That was funny, yeah, and my dad and I was texting back and forth with Matty's dad, and he's like, Are you sure you didn't get it? I was like, Yes. Can you please make sure I'm not gonna respond to the group chat unless you just confirm with Matty?
Speaker 1I did find out today that he had sent it to like everyone he sent it to, he sent it to their cell phone numbers to me. He sent it to my email. Uh I was like in the So everyone else got the text.
Speaker 2Double slip it for me.
Speaker 1I love it. So no pull it out.
Speaker 2No pull it out. No pull it out.
Speaker 1Yeah, look at you. That's great.
Speaker 2How to keep it possible. Positive.
SpeakerWell, I will say my slip it in is I love our link tree. Like, well, it's been so link tree manager to cultivate all these things that we love. And um, I'm always finding new things to put on there, and I love it. And if people ask me stuff about a shoe I'm wearing or a handbag, I'm like, oh yeah, you can find it on our link tree.
Speaker 1I love that.
SpeakerSo I love it. It's great. If you haven't checked it out, please do.
Speaker 1I think this will track with my social behavior. Like, I always need help getting in there.
SpeakerIt's it's pretty easy. You would think L-I-N-K-T-R, period, E E forward slash slip it in podcast.
Speaker 1I mean like on the back end, like getting in there, stuff in there. Okay. It's yeah, I usually just say, Megan, can you put this up?
SpeakerIf you just do a great job. Yeah, if you just go to our Google account, okay, we it'll log you right in. Okay, well, for but for
Speaker 2For us sleepers, also so make it easy. You can also go to our slipitinpodcast.com website and the link is right there.
SpeakerCorrect. Or our LinkTree link is on all our socials.
Speaker 1Sounds like we're really promoting ourselves.
SpeakerWell, I'm just, it's an easy click to get to it. Yes. Okay. My pull it out is when these two mofos are too busy and there's an event that would be great for the pod, and I can't get them to go. That's another slip it in for me when she calls us mofos.
Speaker 1She calls us the other day. She called us jokers, and I'm like, I don't like that too. She can call me any name she wants. She also said, boys are weird.
SpeakerSo, yes, that's my pull it out when I find great events, and then I can't get the two of you on to attend.
Speaker 1Okay. I know what event you're talking about.
Speaker 2Yes, there is Jesse Solomon. I'm so bad.
Speaker 1Jesse Solomon.
Speaker 2It's coming to Detroit.
Speaker 1But we're beat Survivor 50 finale 50-50.
SpeakerThe Survivor is constantly thwarting my plans, too. So it's fine. Yes.
Speaker 1So that's my pull it out. My slip it in is um Iceland hydrating ice stick. Oh I was one of the first. One of the biggest. Hasn't it? Speaking of Link Tree and stuff. We need a code Iceland. I yes, I think it was one of I would say my one of maybe my first three somewhere in there. It was early on.
Speaker 2It's a staple of my household.
Speaker 1It is a staple. And like even the other week, I went to a game night, and our friend from Plymouth, she showed up and she goes, Maddie, Maddie, and I turn around, she's holding the stick. And I'm like, it made stocking stuffers, I think. A lot of people, I don't know why, but that particular product, $9.99, I believe. Is it on our tree?
SpeakerIt's on our leaf tree. And it honestly, I will say, because I bought it several times, it's sold out a lot. Yes. On Amazon.
Speaker 1They're welcome.
Speaker 2They are welcome. I was uh we were out with one of my friends, and he was he had it on the book.
Speaker 1Oh, that's right.
Speaker 2And he pulled it out of his little fanny bag before jumping into the Gay bar. He's like, Matty, look at what I have.
LinkTree Love Pet Peeves And Goodbye
Speaker 1I mean, that product, I've never had more people respond positively to it. So it just feels so good and nice. It is great. In the smell, yeah. It's very good. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, okay. And my pull it out is so we record this pod in a studio that belongs to my home. And the amount of bullshit leave behinds, I can't. But JJ, you're a contributor. You are. Here's what happens because of the podcast. A lot of times we are like, have you tried this? You're JJ, you're notorious for new Trader Joe products. Yes. And so these things come over and it's like, try this, try that, try. I just today, in preparation for this, I did my lazy Susan spin. I'm like, get that out. Get that out. All these, like, there's like a quarterback of this left. There's like this, and I'm like, get it out of here. So it's fun, but it's clogging up space. So that is my pull it out. I love it. Happy anniversary.
Speaker 250 episodes. Happy anniversary. Too many, many, many more years.
SpeakerAnd this should be the next 50, should be a lot of fun. We've got a lot of fun new guests coming. Fingers crossed. Yes. In the meantime, check out our link tree. We talked about it.
