Questions or Comments: Slip It In Here!
We spend the holiday weekend on the Au Sable River in northern Michigan, catching up with friends, swapping how-we-met stories, and turning a missing dock chair into a full-blown mystery. We also taste-test As Ever rosé and spreads, then end with our “slip it in, pull it out” highs and lows from tubing, bugs, heat, and cabin life.
• meeting our guests and rehashing the show’s nut-ranking tradition
• telling the Savannah and Michigan backstory that connects the friend group
• sharing Grayling history and why the Au Sable is famous for fly fishing and canoe racing
• investigating the missing Adirondack chair and debating kayakers vs neighbors
• reviewing As Ever rosé, raspberry spread, strawberry spread, and edible flower sprinkles
• breaking down jam vs jelly and what “tart” actually means in a spread
• swapping tubing stories that end with a leech, strong current drama, and bruised feelings
• calling out ticks as a growing problem tied to warmer weather
• arguing about sleep comfort, hot rooms, and “emotional support pillows”

Welcome To The River Cabin
SPEAKER_00Slippers unite, it's time to play. We bring the spice to your work or your day, confesses debates, and a product or two. We slip it in just for you. You laugh, you cringe, you beg.
SPEAKER_04Welcome, welcome, welcome, everyone. We are back slipping it in with you. I'm Megan, and I'm here with Maddie and JJ. Hello. We are coming to you from the banks of the Osabo River in northern Michigan. And we have a few special guests with us today to celebrate America 250. So we have Melissa back with us again almost one year later from her initial appearance on the pod. As our regular slippers know, hello, she is our West Michigan correspondent. Well, air quotes. Yes, I should qualify it. So welcome.
SPEAKER_03What I realized when I auditioned, when I sent in my application for the role.
SPEAKER_08Never got it.
SPEAKER_03Well, I proposed that being a position for me until I realized how much effort it would take to be a correspondent. And then I decided, no, it's not for me.
SPEAKER_08No. No.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. It's a lot of work. You guys go through a lot of work and I'm not interested.
SPEAKER_08I mean, we would feed you headlines of things happening in the world.
SPEAKER_03And you're like, I um, I don't know. I can't go out today. Like Game of Thrones. Like, I yeah, sorry. So I did fail. But you were just for having me back, and I love to just be a guest star every once in a while.
SPEAKER_08You were a part of one of our most iconic apps, I would dare say, which is Pigs Gotta Eat. It's in our library. We're back in the Osaba. And uh the Duval brothers.
SPEAKER_07Oh, right? Big story. Big story. Very big story.
SPEAKER_08Killed a couple other men that were deer hunters and then fed them to the pigs, allegedly.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_08So if you want to listen to that up, and then we've got some true crime coming into this one. Not as not we'll get there.
SPEAKER_07Not as there is a mystery. There's a mystery.
SPEAKER_08Brewing. There is a mystery. But anyway, so look it up. We won't go into the details. Uh, but yeah, you are part of that, Melissa.
SPEAKER_03Thanks for having me back.
SPEAKER_08And can I ask? Have your nuts changed?
SPEAKER_03Absolutely not. Your nuts are no nut change. Nuts are the same.
SPEAKER_08One, two, three nuts.
SPEAKER_07You know what? I checked this morning. My nuts are still there. Not change. No other change.
SPEAKER_08That's good.
SPEAKER_07Maybe a mosquito bite here and there, but that's fine.
SPEAKER_08She is loyal to yes. Denise said.
SPEAKER_02You're loyal to your nuts.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. She's a diehard nut. Yeah. Okay. Well, Miss Amigan. Yes. Tell the folks who else is with us besides our Michigan correspondent.
SPEAKER_04Well, we also have Kyle and Denise here with us from Savannah.
SPEAKER_08Savannah representative. Thank you.
SPEAKER_07Super excited to be on the show.
SPEAKER_04Yes. Happy to have you.
SPEAKER_07And this really takes us back to the first uh episode that we launched. We really launched it when we went to visit you guys. So I mean in the 912. In the 912.
SPEAKER_08We did not record.
SPEAKER_03What is 912?
SPEAKER_08I'm assuming. 912 is the area code.
SPEAKER_03And that's what people in Savannah say. I'm from the 912. Okay.
SPEAKER_08Really? This is why she didn't get the job. This is why. Um but we didn't really record in Savannah, but we launched it. We hit launched publish our very first one. Do you guys know that?
SPEAKER_02Feel honored. As you should.
SPEAKER_05I don't think I remember. Okay.
SPEAKER_08Well, there's reason. We'll get into that. Listen to it together. Okay, so yeah, sorry. Go ahead. So Denise and Kyle, have we said their names?
Top Three Nuts And Nostalgia
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Okay. Again.
SPEAKER_07Because we always ask our guest, what are your top three nuts?
SPEAKER_05Alright. I'm not really a big nut eater. But if I had to go with three, I would go with walnuts.
SPEAKER_08As a knot. As your favorite knot. This is well.
SPEAKER_03If you went to the store, you had a nut craving. You went to the store, you would get a walnut?
SPEAKER_05No, I'd get pistachios. Maybe no, no, no. Nut is not your favorite nut.
SPEAKER_08Maybe you don't understand the rules.
SPEAKER_05I didn't know we were ranking them in water, but I would go with pistachios because that's like my everyday nut if I'm going to eat a nut. And then I would go almonds because when I go hiking, I usually have a bag of almonds.
SPEAKER_07So walnut is not even one or two.
SPEAKER_05And then walnut would be my third because my grandfather used to eat maple walnut ice cream. So yes, nostalgia. Nostalgic nut.
SPEAKER_07Nostalgia. Yeah. For sure. Yeah. Okay. I'm sure that if I recount, I might have a nostalgic nut before. You love the references. Well, I mean, Denise, what are your top three nuts?
SPEAKER_02So my top nuts are pistachios, macadamia. Love me a macadamia.
SPEAKER_08A cookie. However, it's not in my top three, but if you put it in a cookie, skyrockets. Love it. Are you cookie or just handful? Both. Oh.
SPEAKER_02I love a macadamia. I love a mouthful.
SPEAKER_08Oh. Okay. Well, they're catching on.
SPEAKER_03It was macadamia. This whole life, I thought it was macadamia. Like a macadamia with an N at the end. I didn't know it was macadamia. Yes. That's a little matzer. I did not know that.
SPEAKER_08Good thing we've added it. Good thing we've added it. And do you have a third nut? No.
SPEAKER_02I love peanuts.
SPEAKER_08Oh, the lonely horror of the peanut.
SPEAKER_07According to Anderson Cooper.
SPEAKER_02I like them salty. Oh.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Sometimes I like them roasted.
SPEAKER_08Yes. Insert some ASMR. Okay, we gather nuts.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_08Out of the way.
How We All Met Over Years
SPEAKER_04So let's get into kind of how we met you guys and know each other.
SPEAKER_05Sure. So I had a good friend that used to live in Savannah and he got a new job in the Detroit area. And in 2012, I came to visit him for the first time. It was my first time ever in Michigan, too. So on that we I flew in on a Friday, and on the Saturday, Michigan State was playing Notre Dame. And I'm a big Notre Dame fan. Okay. So we went to the game. So we were supposed to tailgate with my friends' friends, but on Friday, we got a little carried away at a bar called the Oakland. Okay. And we didn't quite fill up to tailgating, so we showed up a little bit later. So the following day on the Sunday, I finally make it at all. We made it to the game, but the it already started. Okay. So we made it within the first quarter of the game. Okay. But there was no tailgating, and I don't think there was any drinking either.
SPEAKER_04And we were there whatsoever. A bunch of us tailgating, and they kept we're supposed to show up, but we kept texting, like, what's going on? Are you coming? Are you what's happening? Never appeared, never showed. So we packed up and left. We were just tailgating that day.
SPEAKER_05So on the Sunday, you did Sunday Fun Day? We did Sunday Fun Day. We met in Detroit. I think we met um in Corktown.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_05We met there, and that's when I met Megan for the first time. Nice. And some others. And then Matt and JJ, Matty and JJ, I met them in St. Patrick's Day Parade 2013, also in Corktown. Yes.
SPEAKER_07We met.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, after we did the 5K.
SPEAKER_08I was there.
SPEAKER_05Yes. Yes.
SPEAKER_08Was I there for this meeting?
SPEAKER_05You may not remember, but you were there.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_05We were at Slows.
SPEAKER_08Back when they ran.
SPEAKER_05We went to Slows barbecue.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. And if you guys have never done St. Patrick's Day in Detroit, it's a lot of fun. It's a lot of fun. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04In Detroit, uh, the big day is the Saturday before St. Patrick's Day. That's when they do the big St. Patrick's Day parade. They do a 5K. And Corktown is the Irish part of Detroit. Yeah. So it's all sorts of craziness. And it's very, very fun.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. And you usually want to make sure and proactively take Monday off.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_08Do you want something?
SPEAKER_03It's a good idea. Yes. Yeah. Whenever you're doing the date, right? Of when the shade.
SPEAKER_07Whenever you're doing a Sunday fun day or even a saucy Saturday, like Monday needs to be.
SPEAKER_08Well, it used to be I had to take Monday off for a Sunday fun day. Now I have to take Mondays off for saucy Saturdays as well. Because it's the recovery.
SPEAKER_04I can't.
SPEAKER_08The recovery is real. It's real. It's real. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05So after after my 2012 trip, my first trip to Michigan is it turned into probably like 50 to 80 trips after that. And in 2018, in June, I believe, I met Melissa.
SPEAKER_07Oh.
SPEAKER_05We went boating on Spring Lake that goes out into Lake Michigan.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_05And had a blast. And then we became good friends after that. Did you go there with like your family and your boat? Oh my God.
SPEAKER_01Was Matt there that day?
SPEAKER_05So many stories. Was I there? I remember Brian. I remember. No, I don't remember Matt. Was Brian? I think he was. No, we I was not there. No, I know that. No, no. Jay wasn't. Maybe it was just me and you, Megan.
SPEAKER_04It was. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Oh. And then if we want to keep going with it, I met Denise at a party in Vail. Oh. And that's where we really need to get out of here.
SPEAKER_07And that was was that was that love at first sight, Mm.
SPEAKER_02It was a connection.
SPEAKER_07Okay.
SPEAKER_02Um, but we were both I was in and out in like 48 hours. And uh of what? It was a connection. The visit. Of Vale. Yeah. So so one of my best friends from college invited me um to a weekend at in Vail, and she didn't tell me or the guys that she invited two other guys.
SPEAKER_07Single.
SPEAKER_02Single to set us to figure out it was a setup, kind of setup, and it was like Denise, you have a choice. It was a competition. It was a competition.
SPEAKER_05Thank you. They had one guy who had us and they had me coming from Savannah.
SPEAKER_07Kyle, did you know? Oh, you didn't know either. No. You didn't.
SPEAKER_02No. So then it we there was there was a click, but then seven months later we got together and it was crazy magic.
SPEAKER_01You know, and Donkey Kong.
SPEAKER_02And then and we're it's seven years later, there's no itching. Wow. No. No, it's great. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07One thing that I'm sure that he's told you before, but one thing that we've I mean, we've had plenty of conversations while we always come here. This has been kind of a tradition for all of us to come in to the Asaba River around the 4th of July. And I he didn't have to tell me that, but you could tell that you don't just love each other, but you like each other. You you like each other's company. Um absolutely.
SPEAKER_02He's my best friend.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I would say the same, right? And that's different from what I've had in the past. But um, we don't have time for that. But it's important.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, for sure. You two are just, yeah. You can see it in everything you do. You guys are best friends.
SPEAKER_08I know we're gonna get a lot of fan mail about this. Can you, for our listeners, um, tell them what your accent is?
SPEAKER_05Oh Northeast Georgia.
SPEAKER_07Northeast Georgia.
SPEAKER_05Um I was born in Rhode Island.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, from the real housewife of Rhode Island.
SPEAKER_05Absolutely. Representing. I love it so much. That's a that's the 401.
SPEAKER_01Oh, the 401.
SPEAKER_05The 401.
SPEAKER_02He parks the cat. He parks the car.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so I left in 2002, and uh apparently the accent didn't go away. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07We love accents. I know Kyle. I know a thing or two about accents, so we're good. Yeah, gotcha.
SPEAKER_02Look at this. He doesn't like Duncan.
SPEAKER_05It's just the main uh donut chain, and it started in New England. I believe it started in Massachusetts.
SPEAKER_03We know what Duncan is. But why do you hate Duncan? That's it. Well, we want to know why Kyle dislikes Duncan. That's what I want to know.
SPEAKER_05Probably for the same reason because it was forced on me. Oh, well, the smell makes me want to throw off.
SPEAKER_08It was forced on him.
SPEAKER_04And I will say it is like an East Coast I love it. It is an East Coast thing, like how Ben Affleck and Matt Damon do those Duncan commercials. Which I love those commercials. Well, who doesn't love Ben Affleck?
SPEAKER_05And the Saturday Live stuff.
SPEAKER_04And mate, Matt Damon. Yeah. But like I will say, from a like food drink perspective, Duncan is really not that great.
SPEAKER_05Agreed.
SPEAKER_07Well, he agrees. Shots have been fired. That's all I have to say. So, Matt, you have some facts about the river that we are in.
Grayling History And River Facts
SPEAKER_08Thank you, JJ. So I like to make sure that if when we go out on location and shoot the pod, uh give a little nod to the area that we're shooting in. And so, as mentioned earlier, we have been here and did an episode previously with Melissa and we focused on pigs gotta eat. And so Grayling in that moment, I guess we didn't give it its finest moment because it was about two men killing two other men and feeding them to the pigs. Yeah. All right. So I got an I got something this time that's a little bit more just interesting in general. So Grayling was originally called Crawford. Oh, wow. Which is now Crawford County, right? Again, we talked about this yesterday. So Crawford County, but like it the city was actually called Crawford, but in 1874, there were fishermen on the Osaba and they caught this fish, and nobody knew what the fish was. They sent these fish to Washington, D.C. And they studied the White House. Well, it times were different. Okay, and ship the fish. Yeah. And at that point in 1874, they're like, we got nothing to do. Let's check these fish. Yeah. From the Osaba River, it turned out that the fish were graylings.
SPEAKER_07Okay.
SPEAKER_08So then they named the by God, we're calling that place Grayling.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. So from Crawford went into Grayling. Yes. Oh wow.
SPEAKER_08But the kicker is in nine nine, this takes a turn. 1936. Oh wow. After stream logging, overfishing, and somebody had introduced brown trout into the stream, which put pressure on the graylings, the gray lings disappeared. So now there are no graylings in Osaba, yet the name has persisted. And apparently these graylings can only live in three United States states. One is Alaska, one is Montana, and the third is Michigan. And they still are thriving and alive in Alaska and Montana. And there is a group trying to reintroduce them. No, these are these people are up to good stuff, JJ. They're trying to reintroduce the graylings into the Osaba. So in a future episode, we'll keep an update on that.
SPEAKER_05So what would be different this time around if there's still trout in the river?
SPEAKER_08When the trout well, I'm gonna that is a great question. And I really I'm not sure. I just feel like the the trout are gonna have to behave.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Well, the grayline, the grayling really ghosted the trout, and they're like, it's not you, is us?
SPEAKER_08Uh-huh. Well, I think the trout came in like bullies, and now they're gonna have to get along. And they're just be like, listen, we can't there's room enough. There, you know what? There's room enough for us all.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah. There is tell that to the animals in the Everglades when the Python got introduced.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Well, all right. I think though. I like the grayling story. That's right. I still think there's a couple graylings still in the undergrounds around here, and they're like, we're still here. Yeah, we're just self-populating.
SPEAKER_05We're back. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I would like to comment that it is pronounced Osabol.
SPEAKER_08Oh.
SPEAKER_04Not Osab. I don't know.
SPEAKER_08You're saying something I'm saying Osabol.
SPEAKER_04And that's not correct.
SPEAKER_08Osable.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_04What is it? Osabol. Osable.
SPEAKER_08Okay. All right.
SPEAKER_04And it is one of the top fly fishing rivers in the country.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, you could answer that when we were.
SPEAKER_04So if you're into fly fishing, you probably already know about it.
SPEAKER_08Just don't come thinking you're catching a grayling. No, that's not happening.
SPEAKER_04It is a big, it's about trout.
SPEAKER_05And the canoeing, right?
SPEAKER_04Uh well, there is a big 24-hour canoe race, which is one of the few with maybe only in the country, where they start and they literally canoe all night long, all day long in the ground in the dark with like little lights or with no light.
SPEAKER_03And can I just say that your family's place on this river for all these years? I came up when I was a little girl with Megan to her grandparents' house, and now her family has built another home. It's absolutely beautiful. And I wouldn't trade coming up here for anything. So thank you, Megan, for always having us up with you.
SPEAKER_08We have nice furniture and stuff, but you gotta keep your eye on it.
SPEAKER_04Well, that's very true.
The Missing Dock Chair Mystery
SPEAKER_04I was all aflutter the other morning because I came out and we have new black plastic Adirondack chairs that we got from Target this year. And I got this foldable wood table from Aldi, and I had them on the dock, and a chair and the table were missing. So I was adamant that there had been a theft on the river.
SPEAKER_07Until JJ wakes up.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_08Hold on. Hold on though. There was a thunderstorm, a brewing, a literal thunderstorm the night before they went missing. Yes.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_08Which is gonna is an important character in the story because that is this is why this chair probably and this table blew off into the water.
SPEAKER_07I woke up to the whole initial lift off.
SPEAKER_02I I agree. Yeah, probably.
SPEAKER_07I woke up to the whole fluster, and obviously, as we've known in the up on the slip it in, Megan was already surmising what the story was behind the chairs.
SPEAKER_08Oh, yes. There was there was an alert.
SPEAKER_07I immediately went into that is I don't think that is the case. We've seen we have not you didn't experience that storm, the storm that Maddie and I, because Maddie and I came in earlier, and the one of the biggest chairs was moving. The wind was crazy. And I'm like, I went on a mission with Megan's dog that he was very excited about. I went in a trail, and I'm like, poking through the water, I could see the corner of the chair, and I just immediately came back and said, the chair is well and alive. We could we I could not see the table, but the chair was there. What was her original theory?
SPEAKER_03Somebody came and stole the chair off her back.
SPEAKER_05God, you know her or canoe.
SPEAKER_02Well, it would have been a little bit of a deliverance moment there.
SPEAKER_07There we go.
SPEAKER_04100% it would have taken two. Fast forward, JJ went to go retrieve the chair.
SPEAKER_07A day after.
SPEAKER_04And yes, and he had a run-in with the neighbors across the river.
SPEAKER_07Yes, and she immediately was like a positive run-in.
SPEAKER_03You make it sound like a you make it sound well, and it was friendly and pleasant.
SPEAKER_07It was very interesting.
SPEAKER_03Talk about the facts.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it was very interesting because as I was I was clearly looking for something.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_07Because I went on a mission. I went on a trail, I saw it from the trail, and I'm like, I'm gonna go in the water, I'm gonna check, I'm gonna retrieve that chair. Yep. There was nowhere to be found. Like it was not poking through anymore. So I thought, I mean, it kept it. We had more rain. So we I thought, okay, maybe it's something. I mean, it's it's still like on the on the bottom of the water. There was nowhere to be found. I was looking for it, clearly. And here comes our neighbor, and she immediately came in and she asked me, like, are you guys renting there?
SPEAKER_04And I said, Point.
SPEAKER_07Not really.
SPEAKER_04She wants to know if we're gonna be around or we'll be leaving.
SPEAKER_08Or she's just being a kind human being.
SPEAKER_07Well, so she asked me if I was we were renting. I said, No, this is a family cabin. We're here with I I'm here with my best friend, and she immediately went into I wish I would have known because I saw the kayakers snatch your chair from the river. And they they immediately said, Oh, that's such a nice chair. Let's just take it.
SPEAKER_04But all the correct chair. Correct, Melissa.
SPEAKER_08Melissa, don't give her any.
SPEAKER_04All that was sticking out was just the top of it. Like, there was a corner, like a little corner, yeah. A little black corner. So you couldn't say, see the cup holders, the foam holders, or any of the other things. $25.
SPEAKER_08$25. Okay.
SPEAKER_07$25 plastic chair.
SPEAKER_04Fum Target, so it has a little style.
SPEAKER_07Non-spond. They look like chairs. The funny record.
SPEAKER_02What? They look like $75 chairs for the record.
SPEAKER_07The funny thing about the turn of the story and my interaction with our neighbor is like, so I am Mrs. So-and-so. And immediately her uh son was right next to her. And he's like, and I am the one that's always yelling. And she was like, You are a piece of work. That's who you are. Yes.
SPEAKER_04Well, and we heard that son last year. So Megan, what we we do know about the yelling. Yeah. Well, let's piece of work. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Megan, why don't you tell our audience listeners what this neighbor now you think is guilty of?
SPEAKER_04My now, this isn't our next door neighbor. They're across the river and downstream a bit. But we can kind of But you know them.
SPEAKER_03So don't say they're not your neighbor. They're your neighbor across the river. You've known them for people.
SPEAKER_04People know that they're not like next door next door.
SPEAKER_05Well, how long do you think they lived there?
SPEAKER_04I mean, they've been there like through families and things for years. For generations.
SPEAKER_03And they're not just random.
SPEAKER_08And a neighbor doesn't have to live next to the house.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so you guys know you can see their house from both properties. We can actually listen to them. We can hear and see them, and they can hear and see us.
SPEAKER_08I can see them right now.
SPEAKER_04I think personally saw some shenanigans sticking out of the river and they went and got it. Because how does a kayaker say she said, Oh, the kayakers were kayaking by and said, Oh, that looks like a nice chair when only a little black corner was sticking out of the river, and then they stopped and pulled.
SPEAKER_07Just FYI, I was the only one, I was the only witness of the corner. So nobody knows how much of what's sticking out.
SPEAKER_04And I'm listening to your facts. And I questioned you, and you said, JJ, to be clear, it was a little corner. You couldn't even see that it was a little bit more. Well, the kayaker would see it before.
SPEAKER_03I'm just going off how she presented it to JJ.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, and I I do also think that Maddie has a valid point as if you were to be the kayaker.
SPEAKER_08If you were the kayaker where the chair was located, it was not in front of anyone's specific property. I gr I give you the fact that there's five other chairs that are similar here. But like if you're going to seven, but hold seven, hold on though. Jesus. Hold on though. Like, I am not going by people's house looking at their patio furniture and counting them, and then I get 300 feet further and be like, oh, that's their missing set piece. Like, no. I am finding a chair in the river that then I'm like, well, part of my responsibility as somebody who enjoys nature is to help keep the river clean. So I'm gonna grab it. I don't know who to give it to. Honest to God, they're not gonna remember like 300 feet prior, those had matching chairs. I'm gonna just take it with me, a good find, and I'm cleaning the river.
SPEAKER_07I'm cleaning the river. It's a part that I feel like it's it's valid. I would have probably done the same thing. We're all very conscious of our name, like the nature and everything.
SPEAKER_02I would have probably My dad used to say, why ruin a good story for the truth?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_08Thank you. So Megan's neighbors have stolen her chair. And every night we go to bed, another one is gonna cut turn up missing. Because now she's on the hunt for a set.
SPEAKER_05They want that one odd chair that costs 25 bucks. Yeah. Right.
SPEAKER_04But let me just it was cheaper.
SPEAKER_07Now we're it's 25.
SPEAKER_04Let me tell you, I plan to keep an eye out on their property because I think they have it back there and we're gonna wait till we're not around to bring it out to you.
SPEAKER_08Well, Megan, I did bring my Binox.
SPEAKER_04Yes, so we can monitor. I don't think it's gonna be seen this weekend, but I'll be back in a few weeks and I will be.
SPEAKER_07Oh, right when they let their guard down.
SPEAKER_04Cameras. Correct.
SPEAKER_07We can install some cameras.
SPEAKER_04We can talk to Kyle about that. There may have been a river crime, and until I feel confident that there wasn't, which means I never see the chair over there, then I do feel you're outnumbered here, but I don't think.
SPEAKER_08Do you guys think can we do a quick does anyone here think that the neighbors have stolen that chair?
SPEAKER_02No. No, I'm Switzerland.
SPEAKER_07Oh, Switzerland. Oh, wow. I I do not think that they have it, but I think that there is a neighbor that we're gonna see further down with it.
SPEAKER_04Maybe, maybe. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07All right, let's. I think we had enough of the stories.
SPEAKER_08I'm a I'm a hard no. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07I'm a hard no. Let's just move on.
As Ever Rosé And Spreads Review
SPEAKER_04Yes. Well, so you may or may not have noticed some of us are drinking a little rose today.
SPEAKER_07In a very fancy glass. Oh, somebody already drank hers, but she loved it.
SPEAKER_08She loved it. She loved it.
SPEAKER_04So cheers, Denise. Cheers. It's a very special rose. It is a very special one. Maybe should I say a susic?
SPEAKER_07Yes.
SPEAKER_04So we are sampling today the as ever rose, as well as we also sampled at breakfast the as ever raspberry spread and strawberry spread.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_04So all it's just part of it. And yeah.
SPEAKER_08I can show these edible sprinkles.
SPEAKER_04We also had a little sampling of the flower sprinkles.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_07So it's chic.
SPEAKER_04Yes. So let's ha talk about the tea. So these are for anyone.
SPEAKER_08It's magnetic. It picks up my phone.
SPEAKER_06Well, it's a it's a metal container. It's a metal container. So yeah.
SPEAKER_08I love it already. I love it already.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_04So everyone knows I'm a fan of Prince Harry and Megan Markle, otherwise known as Megan Sussex now. And Megan has anyone who's watched her Netflix shows, she has an as ever line. And it's a line of kind of pantry stable staples along with some wines. Um, we have the as ever rose, which is really great. The raspberry spread, the strawberry spread, and the floral sprinkles. So I really love the raspberry spread. It's rich in tart, but it has a little lemony taste to it that you don't normally find in a traditional raspberry jam. It also has um less sugar than your standard jams. So it's perfect if you want to try to stay healthy, but you still want a little sweetness, but you don't want to get too crazy with your sugars. So, what did everyone think of the raspberry stuff?
SPEAKER_07To quote the great RuPaul.
SPEAKER_04Oh.
SPEAKER_07Oh boy. I first I thought it was jelly and not jam because it there is a very famous song from RuPaul that says it must be jelly because jam don't shake. And it was a little shaky. So it was a little watery, but I do have to say that the taste is very natural forward. Um, and I think Denise was the one we were talking about it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was nice and tart.
SPEAKER_07The tartness of it, I think that that is what did it for me. If you can just give the mic to Denise.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, I love the tartness. I like the consistency.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I don't like a lot of sugar, I don't like a lot of sweet. I thought it was kind of perfect. And I loved the raspberry and the strawberry.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I am a big strawberry aficionado. So the strawberry was like my favorite 100%.
SPEAKER_03I am not a big jelly or jam person. So it tasted like any other raspberry or strawberry jam or jelly I've ever had.
SPEAKER_04I highly disagree with that. I think it is double advancing.
SPEAKER_07Here she comes that she doesn't like when she call her we call her.
SPEAKER_03If you don't like it, what are you measuring it against? Yeah. There we go. I didn't say I didn't like it. I'm saying it's a strawberry and a raspberry jam that I've had numerous times in my life.
SPEAKER_05And I agree. Oh.
SPEAKER_03Oh wow. Well then you're not getting yelled at for being a baby. No, I think the reality.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_04If you're not kind of more along the lines of a jam aficionado, that's what I said.
SPEAKER_03I don't eat a jam or a jelly very often.
SPEAKER_05Same here.
SPEAKER_03Like any other jam or jelly.
SPEAKER_05Tell it, Kyle. Tell jam is like nuts. I very seldom have it.
SPEAKER_08Worse of wisdom from Kyle. Wow. Put that on a card and a poster. But I want that t-shirt. Put that on a shirt.
SPEAKER_05But it's a tasty jam. Yeah. I just can't tell the difference between that jam and other jams.
SPEAKER_08Well, do you have a nostalgia jam?
SPEAKER_05That would be jelly.
SPEAKER_02All I'm trying to say is if you if you're all saying you don't you don't taste that stuff often, why are you qualified to kind of determination?
SPEAKER_03I'm just I'm not.
SPEAKER_02I'm not an official.
SPEAKER_03If I would have known that I had to be qualified, I would have said no, I'm not qualified to jump.
SPEAKER_08Does anyone hear for our listeners, are they able to say what is different between a jelly and a jam?
SPEAKER_03I can 100%.
SPEAKER_08Okay, the aficionado can.
SPEAKER_03Well, I'll let Megan because she'll be the correct answer. Well, you say it, Melissa, if you think you know. Jelly is just like a jiggly whatever. A jam actually is like the preserve and like the seeds.
SPEAKER_08Jelly is a jiggly whatever. That's great.
SPEAKER_03That's jelly doesn't the seeds and the actual like fruit broken down in it. It's just like a flavor.
SPEAKER_07I did think it had a seed. Jelly is what you're gonna see at uh National Connie Island for the uh in a uh kind of a deli type of breakfast, please. It's just a little so jam is healthier? I think so.
SPEAKER_04But Megan will tell us. Yes, so jelly only has fruit juice in it, whereas jam's actually made from crushed or parade or Google has been activated.
SPEAKER_08I can see her computer. Google has been activated.
SPEAKER_04Well, I did Google, so I was appropriately talking about jelly. So jelly doesn't have seeds or anything like that in it. I personally don't like a jelly consistency, so I'm a jam preserved girl.
SPEAKER_08I have a complicated relationship with raspberries. So I liked them, but raspberries and I I don't I've said it before, I'll say it again. I don't like a hairy berry.
SPEAKER_04Oh my god, I can't. So I like them.
SPEAKER_07Do we have prices?
SPEAKER_04Yes. So let the the raspberry spread and the strawberry spread are $12 on the As Ever website, or you can get them in a collectible um like tin or box, and that's $15. The flour sprinkles are $15 and they're edible, but they're great to anyone try these?
SPEAKER_08Whoa, it stuck to my phone.
SPEAKER_04They're great to sprinkle on over salads, cupcakes, avocado toast, cocktails, or desserts.
SPEAKER_07I wouldn't even put it in a in a little topper for the rose. Like if you're having brunch.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. So it just I don't like it.
SPEAKER_08I don't like no no offense to this particular product. In general, I don't the concept of edible flowers. I'm out.
SPEAKER_04Oh, see, I love an edible flower.
SPEAKER_08I'm out.
SPEAKER_04And I love that you can just add a little fun to your party, your event, your lunch, your breakfast.
SPEAKER_07There you go.
SPEAKER_04So the other thing that we haven't really gotten into is the rose wine. It is crisp, it's light, it's very easy to drink. It's perfect for a summer patio. It's a great porch wine. Here we are. Yep.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_04So may I have some more? Yes, absolutely. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Her glass be empty.
SPEAKER_04Girls' night, brunch, whatever. It's a little fruit forward, but it's not overly sweet. And it's a solid crowd. Just like I mean, it may not be your like if you're a total wine connoisseur, but to me, it's that easy, drinkable rose that I'm always looking for.
SPEAKER_07Very refreshing.
SPEAKER_04And it's it's as ever rose. It's from Napa Valley. All the grapes are from Napa Valley, and it retails for $30 per bottle. But I have to tell you, you can't buy just one. You have to buy them in a three-pack.
SPEAKER_08Oh.
SPEAKER_04And there's a $20 flat rate shipping fee.
SPEAKER_07Slip it in some pillows are going up.
SPEAKER_08So it's going to be a worse.
SPEAKER_04Well, but I will say that's pretty standard. I order a lot of wine from Napa, and that's kind of standard with the flat rate shipping. Yeah. Well, I'm in a wine club. My wine all comes from Napa.
SPEAKER_07All right. Sorry. Awesome. I love it. 100%. It'll be a burling tree.
SPEAKER_04What? You don't buy European wines? I'm more of a I'm a very American wine girl. I love my California wine, my Oregon wine. Like I'm very comfortable in that realm. It gets dicey for me.
SPEAKER_05Washington State.
SPEAKER_04I like Washington State wine, but I'm much more because I've gone to Napa. Squirreling wine?
SPEAKER_08Squirreling?
SPEAKER_04There's no wine in Grayling. I've gone to Napa many times as well as Oregon. And so I'm very, I can talk the wine. I know the wine. I can figure out what's good and bad and what I'll like.
SPEAKER_03Denise and Kyle, what do you are you wine drinkers? Where do you get your wine?
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_05So like the nuts and the jam. I do not drink wine. Oh.
SPEAKER_08Well, we all know.
SPEAKER_05What do I drink, Maddie?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, what does Kyle drink then? Vaka water. It's just like he likes the more concentrated versions. Vaca. Vodka with no mixer. Well, a chaser is a chaser of diet. Dia Pepsi.
SPEAKER_05This is true.
SPEAKER_08Is that right? I don't want to, I don't want to paint an incorrect picture.
SPEAKER_05I also drink bourbon and tequila.
SPEAKER_08Okay. The hard stuff.
SPEAKER_02I call him a bourbon connoisseur.
SPEAKER_08Oh. Oh, a bourbon connoisseur?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, if we're gonna put a label on that one.
SPEAKER_08I have talked about you, Kyle, to my friends and said, I am friends with the most impressive drinker of straight vodka I know. He can drink a full bottle of Kirkland vodka, and the next morning he's up, goals, ready to go.
SPEAKER_07In a hoodie.
SPEAKER_08Goals and ask. I think we're I'm sure that someone spill it out. And we'll get there, I'm sure. I'm not sure. But okay.
SPEAKER_07Speaking of time.
Slip It In Pull It Out Begins
SPEAKER_07It is time.
SPEAKER_08Okay, maybe we need to get to it. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_03Are we getting to slip it in and pull it out? We are. We are at we are there. I've been counting down for this. Okay. Wow. Who's going first?
SPEAKER_05I can go first. Oh. All right. Can I have multiples?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, do what you want to do.
SPEAKER_08What do you mean? Well, yeah, sure. It's our 250th for our country. Do what you want.
SPEAKER_05All right. So Team USA winning and all of us watching it together is a dappling slip it in.
SPEAKER_07Nice.
SPEAKER_05Another one I would say is just hanging out with your friends.
SPEAKER_07U.S. men's national team. Yes, of course.
SPEAKER_08You're saying Was Megan watching it with us?
SPEAKER_04Wait, let's just stop for a moment because I don't think everyone knows really what you're talking about. You're talking about World Cup soccer, correct?
SPEAKER_05Well, if we're talking about Team USA, I think everybody knows we're probably talking about the men's soccer right now.
SPEAKER_04World Cup. No. Yeah. No, most people wouldn't necessarily know. Yes. World Cup. I think we have to clarify what it was.
SPEAKER_08Yes. I think most people don't.
SPEAKER_04I don't think so.
SPEAKER_08Okay.
SPEAKER_03So what's your next slip then? You said you had more than that.
SPEAKER_05My next one would be just hanging out with you guys, just hanging out with my friends. We probably see each other two or three times a year, but there is something magical about coming to this cabin. I've been coming for like the last 10 or 11 years now. And it's just always a lot of fun, and it's just always a lot of laughter.
unknownNice.
SPEAKER_02I'm a little newer to the equation, and I'm gonna say I 100% agree. And it's not just here, it's wherever we get together. I love you guys.
SPEAKER_05You're in the two-time cabin club.
SPEAKER_08Oh, I love that. You have a pull it out, right?
SPEAKER_05I do. It's probably where I'm lodging. I'm lodging in a bedroom that's probably 150 degrees. And to try to get a breeze, we have to keep the windows open, which means as soon as the sun comes up, guess who's up? And guess who? And everybody else is sleeping for another three hours.
SPEAKER_08Can I say something? I empathize with you. However, when you are up and you're outside and I find you outdoors, you are wearing, you are wearing wool socks, a hooded sweatshirt, a fleece line pants, and a wool hat. And so in my mind, I'm like, that's the perfect bedroom for him. Because when he's out of the bedroom, he wants back in. He wants that feeling. Am I wrong? Am I making it up?
SPEAKER_05You're not making it up.
SPEAKER_08Okay. This outfit is very January, December. Well, sorry.
SPEAKER_05I love me a hoodie. I love me some slippers.
SPEAKER_03And wool socks with shirts.
SPEAKER_08So wouldn't you think this room, why do you hate the room if you like the heat?
SPEAKER_05Because when I sleep, I like it cold and I like to have the least amount of clothes on, other than socks. He's a sleepmaxer.
SPEAKER_08Okay.
SPEAKER_05I do have those wool socks on when I sleep.
SPEAKER_04Oh, well, that's the big problem right there. I think if you took them off, you would feel much cooler.
SPEAKER_05Megan, I guarantee you the socks are not the problem.
SPEAKER_08Well, I will say heat leaves your feet. So you should try it tonight. I would recommend taking those wools off.
SPEAKER_03I can't with you. I didn't know you were sleeping with those socks.
SPEAKER_05Sometimes just the socks.
SPEAKER_03Well, take them off.
SPEAKER_05I don't know about that. I don't want my toes exposed.
SPEAKER_03Okay. So can I are you done? But that was your pull it out.
SPEAKER_05I am done.
SPEAKER_03Okay. My slip it in, which Matt kind of jumped on. That's totally fine. So I came a day after Kyle and Denise arrived in Megan, which was two days after JJ and Matt arrived. And when I woke up the next morning, came out, I could see Kyle out on the dock on the river. And it was, I mean, it's fairly humid. It's the 4th of July in Michigan. It's very humid.
SPEAKER_05No, it was probably like 80. It was like 10 o'clock in the morning.
SPEAKER_03Okay, but that was a high. Okay, so Kyle was 6 a.m. had been, he brought the rocking chair out as he could to the river on the dock. He had, as Matt pointed out, a stocking hat.
SPEAKER_08It looked like we just got done snowmobiling.
SPEAKER_03Adidas pants, wool socks, and slippers that were Sherpa lines. Uggs.
SPEAKER_04Let's just get to the point. They were Uggs slippers.
SPEAKER_03Okay. So he had been out there rocking const the whole time, just rocking, doing this cardio. Well, we ended up sitting out there chatting till noon. And I said, Kyle, are you okay? I looked at him, his whole face was beat red like a tomato. Oh my god. He never took off the hat.
SPEAKER_08We finally got him to take the wool hat off.
SPEAKER_03And the rest of us are in swimsuits drinking ice water, and you were burning up. Do you remember too?
SPEAKER_05Remember your little eyes like, oh, I'm sore. And you're like, it's probably because you've been rocking for five hours.
SPEAKER_03Oh, it was. By the time you went in, it was noon, and you were out there rocking from 6 a.m. until now.
SPEAKER_05Six hours.
SPEAKER_03Yes. So that's my uh slip it in.
SPEAKER_05God.
SPEAKER_03My pull it out is um earlier in the day yesterday, we had the most amazing rafting trip down the river. We all got tubes. We all got different types of tubes. Kyle and I got the same type of tube where we just floated and were at the mercy of the river. The rest of the group got tubes where you actually had paddles where you could navigate how you were gonna go.
SPEAKER_04They were known as half tube, half kayaks. Yes. Yeah. What were they called?
SPEAKER_08Rockets.
SPEAKER_04Tube tracker.
SPEAKER_08It's a hybrid.
SPEAKER_03Yes, correct. So I'm getting in. Well, I see everybody's kind of like floating off and paddling away. And I was hoping that we would all kind of stick together and chat and you know, just have fun talking together. Well, luckily, JJ was so sweet and let me attach to his tube tracker, which was great.
SPEAKER_08Like a barnacle.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, okay. Well, as we keep going and we're trying to just chat in different groups, I try attaching to Megan. She kicked me off of her tube and said, I can't do this. I'm not responsible for you. Correct.
SPEAKER_08That was the true crime on the river. That was the real crime.
SPEAKER_03And then I said, Megan, I want to talk to you. You said that's fine, but I can't manage you and I'm not controlling you. Didn't she hit you with a paddle? No.
SPEAKER_04I took my foot and pushed her tube away. She did because I didn't want her attaching to me.
SPEAKER_03So fast forward, our ride or our float was two and a half hours. And then we get to the point where we actually I grabbed you. You did, Denise. And so did Matt. Matt let me be a barnacle on him as well.
SPEAKER_02I didn't. You weren't a barnacle.
SPEAKER_03Thank you. It was fun. I love that. So we're getting to the end, though, in Two and a half hours in, we pull up. We're like, okay, here's the dock. Like, here's the place where we all get off the tubes, all of this stuff. So I have no paddle. I have no nothing. So I'm at the mercy of somebody to pull me in to the edge to get on the dock to get out. Megan was the closest one. I went to grab her. Megan pushed me off of her, pushed me away. I went past the exit and I'm floating well past where I was supposed to get off. So I had to jump off the tube and walk upstream to get off my tube to get out. Yes. Okay. I'm sorry. This is a long pull it out. This is really quick. Okay. I finally navigate myself out of the river, come home, take a shower, get all cleaned up, and I'm walking in the house, and Kyle, what happened?
SPEAKER_05I said, there's something in the back of your leg. Can you come over here and turn around?
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_05And it was a leech. It was a small leech.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_05And it it had a pretty good suction going on.
SPEAKER_03Yep. He had to pull a leech off my foot because Megan wouldn't tow me in to the end.
SPEAKER_08Is your pull it out the leech or Megan? Both. Wow.
SPEAKER_04All right. I have to add some comments.
SPEAKER_08We don't have time. I don't think we have time, Megan. We're going to have to move on.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_07No, but I agree, Megan.
SPEAKER_04It's not true facts what are being told.
SPEAKER_07I was there.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. But I mean, when you tube, you just the current was strong. But tubing means you have to get in and out of the river. It doesn't mean you have this clean riding experience, which is why I chose the tube track.
SPEAKER_08I do agree with Megan on that. Like you can't get on the river and just out act like a helpless infant, which was happening. Exactly. Which was happening.
SPEAKER_04And I when she we had to get to the dock to get out, there were workers there that could have been.
SPEAKER_08Well, I heard the worker say to the other worker, like, I just bought these shoes. I'm not, I wasn't going to do that.
SPEAKER_04They weren't jumping in. And I say it from the wall. I didn't jump in.
SPEAKER_08I don't remember that. There were like young teens. Okay.
SPEAKER_04And there were only two sets of stairs. So I was trying to make sure I got onto the dock where the stairs were. And I didn't have a hold of the dock when she was whizzing by. And I'm like, I can't help you because I've got to navigate myself.
SPEAKER_08I feel for both of you. And I think, yeah, the true the I mean, it's all there.
SPEAKER_04You said you didn't want her barnacled to you either. Correct. So you know. Correct.
SPEAKER_08I feel I didn't like it when you kicked her in the face.
SPEAKER_04I kicked her too. And pushed her away.
SPEAKER_08At the end, when we were getting off, I felt, Missy, that was on you. Yeah. You needed to like, we're all trying to catch the doc.
SPEAKER_04Exactly. We can't help others.
SPEAKER_08Early on, 10 minutes in when we're just trying to have fun. And getting kicked in the face to be disconnected. I'm with you.
SPEAKER_04It wasn't a kick in the face. It was a push on the toe.
SPEAKER_08As Denise said, don't let the truth get in the way of a good story. There we go. There you go. Denise.
SPEAKER_02So my slip it in. So I love your ling. Your lang. Yeah. Our leg and speak to each other. It's so much fun. I really enjoyed it. Participating. Participate. That didn't really work. I have to practice. I had to practice and learn the language, but I love it. And also, Megan. Should we the best hostess ever? Yeah. Again. Another year. So fantastic. And thank you, Megan Sussex, and as ever.
SPEAKER_01Oh God.
SPEAKER_04A little help with the flower sprinkles and the roses.
SPEAKER_08Just say thank you. All right. So you like the way we talk a little bit with our abriefs.
SPEAKER_02I love it.
SPEAKER_08Just for the audience. It's my face. Like it's a little bit of an abrief here and there.
SPEAKER_07So it's my face. It's an internal language. Yeah, that's for sure. It's super fun. Do you have any pull out?
SPEAKER_02I don't have one. No, it's been so great. I just don't have one.
SPEAKER_07I love it.
SPEAKER_02All right, guys. Oh, and one other. I love this podcast. Oh fun. We're glad that you anytime you need a guest star, we're in.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I love that. You will be welcomed back 100%. Whose turn?
Ticks Leech Drama And Heat Complaints
SPEAKER_04All right. I'll go next. So my slip it in is global warming.
SPEAKER_08Oh, it's supposed to be. I can't. Can I just say for the audience, it's supposed to be shit that happened this weekend. And I guess it's happening. Somebody's going very heavy. This is going to be about ticks, I swear. It is.
SPEAKER_04I knew it. I knew it. I'm going on to ticks on global warm, yeah. We came back from a little hike yesterday. I took my shoes off. I had a tick on my foot. Then we started to record this podcast. I looked down. I've got a tick. I tried to push it off my foot, and he could, he was starting to like bite in, and I had to like yank him off. Got him off, thank God. So growing up, we never had tick issues up here. It is a very new issue, and they're rampant, and that is due to global warming.
SPEAKER_08I got a tick on my neck, and you had a tick and your foot. On your foot, and you had a tick and a leech. Oh.
SPEAKER_03Just the leech here.
SPEAKER_08Just the leech here.
SPEAKER_05So you are right though, because they're in Alaska now too, and they never used to be in Alaska. In Alaska. Wow.
SPEAKER_08With the graylings. All right. Global warming.
SPEAKER_04Yes. So that is my uh pull it out. Well, that was sorry, I confused him. That was my pull it out. That wasn't my slip it in. My slip it in is my crazy Rottweiler who thinks he has to protect us from every fly around. Yeah, that I can't simply he cannot, he is not getting his sleep in that he normally does because all he's doing is monitoring the air and running and trying to chase after every fly, dragonfly that comes around.
SPEAKER_08I think it's cute.
SPEAKER_04It is very cute. He's very perked up and he's just he can't get enough. He's on patrol. He is, it is adorbs. It's very big patrolling. So that's it for me.
SPEAKER_07You or me? You. I'm gonna do it. My slip it in is um when I went on the hunt for this chair, I did after I decided that the chair was not where to be found, I just went in a little solo kayak. Um and I, you know, I I one of the things that I look forward the most about our time here together is really the conversations that we had, but also like I think that we are not. Also the silence we looking at. No, I'm I'm saying that we we in the world that we're living in, we really not appreciate it more the solitude and the nature and the peace that it brings. And I I really enjoyed my 30, 40 minutes that I was like just me and the nature. And um I know Maddie knows this, uh, but I not many know. Like I connect with my mom through butterflies, and there was like a bunch of butterflies around when I was there, and I was just like, it's just like a little conversation that I have with my mom. So beautiful. Yeah, so I'm I love I love the solitude that this you know atmosphere brings uh to me and to my soul. So I love that. Oh my pull it out is that Maddie promised me.
SPEAKER_08I just was supportive, just so you know. Just so you know, I was very supportive of this.
SPEAKER_07I I was very happy that when we went to New York, he found the best gadget ever. It was a portable bidet. He forgot about it. He did not bring it.
SPEAKER_02I didn't know that was a thing.
SPEAKER_07I forgot about that.
SPEAKER_02You feel good about it? No, he forgot.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, forgot. So he I was just playing on it, and I was like, and then next thing I know when he's unpacking, he's like, oh my god, JJ, I forgot the bidet. And I'm like, I am not gonna, you know, he instructed me not to use my dude wipes because of the situation that we have. Oh, yeah, I have dude wipes, but in a in the cabin, you should probably not use them. No, yeah.
SPEAKER_08See, I told you to hide that. She will not use them when you told me not. Yeah, yeah. Well, they don't actually they can I just do you mind just real quick? Because you brought it up.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Because even if any wipe that says flushable, they don't they can say that legally, but it's does it doesn't um disintegrate. Like toilet paper will disagree. It doesn't dissolve. Dissolve. So it is not flushable in the yes. And I said to JJ, I said, JJ, it's okay on night one, but she's arriving night two.
SPEAKER_07No, I didn't. After that, I mean I'm gonna pack the dude wipes and I'm gonna just live without the portable bidet that Matt forgot. So that is definitely Apple Out. It would have been a different weekend with the bidding.
SPEAKER_08There's something though that passing that portable around is a little because you you gotta take it and stick it underneath it. Yeah, I'm sure you wouldn't have done.
SPEAKER_07All right, that's all right.
SPEAKER_08My turn.
Pillow Pathways And Closing Plugs
SPEAKER_08All right. My slip it in and I have receipts. Let me grab my phone. I have receipts. So this um this thing that we did, this uh tube thing that we did. Um, Melissa, afterwards, I so we I organized uh this group photo and I got us all I got us all in it and in the photo perfect day. Just before you get upset, somebody might want to give Missy the mic. She's probably got something to say. Before you even get up and get riled up, notice that I'm calling it a slip it in, not a pull it out. It's a slip it in. Okay. So I post this photo. I'm doing a selfie. If you know me, you know I'm not great on it. There's six of us, and I managed to capture a pretty great photo, I think. Perfect day, you say. Yeah, okay. Yeah, and and then I put in the I put in the photo in a little space that was unoccupied, perfect day, and posted it. And then Melissa gets on later in the evening and says, and I'm reading. This is in your quote. If you're watching on video, I'm reading a receipt. The receipt says, It was a great day, great day, not perfect. She says it was a great day. Exclamation point. Don't want to go so far as perfect, but dot dot dot. And I read it and I'm like, I gave the wow emoji, like that emoji, and then I said, Maybe because you refuse to navigate on your own. I said nav though, just so you know, Denise.
SPEAKER_01I said, Nav exactly.
SPEAKER_08Just because you refuse to nav on your own and attach yourself like a barnacle to all of us and made us do all the work. And then she replied to that with, well, one person got a leech on their foot, and five people did not. So perfect for some, it's not perfect for all. And I and I attach I sent a Debbie Donner. And I call it a slip it in because it's just it's a joy.
SPEAKER_07I kind of like the friendship that we have.
SPEAKER_08I mean, I just I do love it, it's fun. I mean, we're sitting next to each other sleeping in this cabin, but social media playing it out there. So credit.
SPEAKER_07Awesome.
SPEAKER_03Very funny. I have no I I will just let you run with it. That was funny.
SPEAKER_08Okay. And you pull out. My pull it out is we've all been indulging in drinks and stuff. So, JJ, you even though you were drinking, uh, in this story I'm telling, we all were drinking. But I JJ and I are sharing a room with two single beds fully separated. Okay. And in the I get up to go to the restroom several times a night. The first night, I he's a one pillow person, which is shocking. I like three pillows, two pillows at least. So he had put, he would put his pillows on the floor. And I'm okay, fine. But like second night, I'm like, I might have drank more. I want to make sure this pathway is clear. So I say to JJ, I and Megan was there to witness. I say to JJ, if you don't mind, I'd like to sit these pillows over here so that my pathway to the bathroom, I don't twist an ankle. Oh, really? He's like, Well, I like he goes, I like to keep them right here. They are my emotional support pillows. He goes, I do squeeze them. So all no, that's not true. It's a lot. So all of a sudden, I'm in a I'm been put into a position. Do I choose my ankle over his emotional support pillows that he has no attachment to that are laying on the floor?
SPEAKER_07I was to pull it out. I was just playing.
SPEAKER_04Exactly. It was crazy.
SPEAKER_07It was but Megan didn't. It might have been the cocktails talking.
SPEAKER_04I said, I think you need you have a little space between the wall and the bed. Like let's put a pillow.
SPEAKER_07Between the second pillow and yeah, game changer.
SPEAKER_04So we did a whole refresh of bedding at the cabin this year, and I made sure every bed had two to three pillows per person, which I do love. Well, it has become a very big complaint with my brother and his friends.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Wow.
SPEAKER_04They said there's too many pillows. Disagree. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Well, even if you don't use them, you use them for emotional support. So on that note, just put them on the floor. Let's leave it there.
SPEAKER_07Let's leave it there. So good job.
