Matty: Hey slippers, here's what's happening on today's episode of Slip It In. We're revisiting Melissa's Dolly Claim to Fame, which now is more commonly known as Dolly Gate. Yeah. Melissa, you're in danger.

Megan: Absolutely. And we had kind of a crazy little Bravo MTV mashup, which God, I can't get enough of.

JJ: One of the things that I really liked about this episode, we just got into that brunch conversation talking about nothing and everything at the same time.

Megan: Absolutely.

JJ: And this is season two, season two, episode 67. Here we are. Buckle up.

Megan: Welcome, welcome, welcome, everyone. We're back, slipping it in with you, bringing you the unhinged brunch conversation. Well, about nothing. But for some reason, you can't stop listening to it. I'm Megan and I'm here with Matty and JJ. Hello. Hello, hello.

JJ: Is it time? Is it time now?

Megan: Time for what?

JJ: Sweater weather.

Megan: Oh.

JJ: We're all getting our little cardigans. Is it sweater weather? Sweater weather. Sweater.

Matty: Sweater weather. Sweater weather. Sweaterweather.

JJ: Sweater weather.

Megan: Well, I see. Bring that sweater to the cottage.

JJ: Oh. You're coming to the cottage. I've been in a few a few cottages this summer. Yeah. It's been the cottage summer.

Matty: You guys. Okay. We gotta get into this. I'm gonna do a quick setup just because the if you didn't listen to the last episode, I'll keep it short. But our five-time visitor from West Michigan, our West Michigan correspondent, if you will. Well joint role. Oh, Melissa. I mean, it's dicey, but she joined us for an episode that and we had a great conversation around Dolly. Yeah. And unbeknownst to us, she dropped this bombshell on us that she had met Dolly because her dad was on a little showboat committee, which gained her backstage VIP access on the showboat to meet.

JJ: Front row and everything.

Matty: I mean, we were hook, line, and sinker. We were with her the whole way. We were shocked. We were excited.

JJ: I was a little bit even emotional. I was throughout.

Matty: I know. If you watch back the footage, we are or listen to it. Or listen to whatever you prefer. Either or. There is an emotional connection we have with her.

Megan: Yeah, it was very exciting that her first concert was also a celebrity meeting. And it was with Dolly Parton, who you know is like the sweetest woman. And you know what a great experience to have is like going to your first concert, and that's it was Dolly Parton and meeting her and having her like say, Oh, hi, so nice to meet you, and her beautiful gown and hair.

JJ: Yeah. And we were honoring Dolly.

Megan: Yes. Correct.

JJ: So when we were already like our hearts were in our hearts, like our hands, we were there we thought we were all being our true authentic smoke. Well, Melissa, you and Danger Girl.

Matty: Yes. In the episode, at one point, I say to her, like, wow, I could have been at that concert as well because I live two blocks from the show boat, and I would always go as well. And I said, I'm gonna follow up and reach out to my dad and ask him about it. So when I was like doing the production of the episode, I saw gonna do that. So I reach out to both my dad and my sister, and I said, Melissa, what saw Dolly at the showboat? Were we there as well?

JJ: And my dad received And you, I'm sure that you were expecting that guy, yep, we were there.

Megan: Yeah, or we were out of time, we couldn't go, or we were sick, like it was just not part of our summer that year.

Matty: Right. Well, what I got back instead was from my dad's my dad said, Well, I don't remember her being there. And I'm like, okay, well, that could be.

JJ: He might not remember, yeah.

Matty: But then my sister said, same, and followed up with uh like a Google search she had done, and she's like, uh, according to Google, Dolly was in Michigan 17 times, 18 times in her career, but never in Lowell. And I'm like, wait, what?

Megan: And interestingly enough, never in Grand Rapids until like 2014 or 2016, which is crazy to me.

Matty: So so well, here's the thing, we're gonna get into this as well. I got a little slack from the last episode for being all over the place with these storms and tropical storms. Well, but then when this when Dolly Gate um blew up, I'm like, I texted you both, and I'm like, okay, well, I think we've got bigger fish to fry. We have got a scandal on our hands.

Megan: Absolutely.

Matty: Dolly was never at the showboat. I felt scammed, to be honest.

Megan: Well, I wasn't gonna trust someone else's skills because I'm pretty good on the internet and sleuthing 100%.

JJ: Yeah, so you were a professional sleuther.

Megan: I immediately went to town doing mini searches, and then it was like, okay. That's literally she wasn't even in like the area until like the mid-2000s.

JJ: So I'm like, and you would also know as a former first runner-up pageant queen of the little showboat, correct?

Megan: Anyway, so I'm like, okay, it has to be someone else, maybe that looks like Dolly. So I'm like, what other blonde singers were at the little showboat? So it came up with Dinah Shore. But Dina was in there, was there in the late 60s. But I'm like, was it Dinah Shore? And Melissa's like, no, no, no. It was definitely upset in her way. She's like, it was it was Dolly. Maybe she was there with Jerry Reed. Well, Jerry Reed did come to the show boat, not with Dolly, and that was before she was born. Before she was born in the 60s, not in the world.

Matty: And Melissa was very adamant, like, oh, as if the internet could not get it wrong. Exactly.

Megan: So I was like, AI can never be wrong. I'm like, well, God forbid, she said that the AI or Google gets it wrong.

Matty: I saw Dolly. So then I went, well, if she's not gonna trust Google or AI, I went to her local community newspaper called the Lowell Ledger. Yes. And I had the Lowell Ledger pull up the archives of every artist that had ever performed at the showboat. Do you think Dolly was on there? Never.

Megan: No, never.

Matty: And I was doing the math though, and I'm like, I wonder if it was Dottie West, because I remember going to Dottie West's concert. And so when I said to Miss, I said, Missy, okay, here's what I've done. I've gone to the Little Legend. Exactly. And she saw it, she goes, Oh my god, it was. I bet it was Dottie West.

JJ: Oh, so she started doubting about it.

Matty: Yes. And then it turns out it wasn't Dottie. No, she well then.

Megan: That led to the year before Dottie was there, was Tammy Wynette. And when you pull up a picture of Tammy Wynette from the 70s, she's very Dolly-esque. And when she saw the picture of Tammy Wynette, she's like, Oh my God, it was Tammy Wynette. Yes.

Matty: So we were bamboozled.

Megan: We were she never met Dolly. Never.

Matty: What do we do? Do we allow her back on the show?

JJ: I mean, we think that she we need to get her like her side and admit it here on the pod. So probably she will come in clean. Um and I mean eventually I feel that this is going to be a documentary that we will produce.

Matty: Oh my god. Yeah. And I just ask our listeners like, let's not blow it out of proportion. Like, don't come after her, don't start stalking her. You know, DM me for her address if you need.

Megan: And, you know, Tammy and Dolly were very similar looking back in the 70s.

Matty: But if you're gonna go on a national broadcast, and I mean you should.

Megan: Well, we're more than national. We are worldwide. We're worldwide.

Matty: You do have, I would just maybe have not dropped it as a bombshell, but maybe cleared it with us and had a little combo with us in the upfront because we would have you would have immediately fact-checked.

Megan: Well, I think in her mind, it was Dolly because Dolly became very famous as the years went on. Tammy Winnett, I think, kind of peaked in the 70s, and maybe that's where her career ended.

Matty: So I think this might be where Melissa's career ended as well.

Megan: So I think maybe that's part of the problem. In her head, it was Dolly, and in reality, it was Tammy Wynnette.

JJ: She did, and making light of the whole thing, I was sharing with her as I was preparing for uh posting our pod um post on the social media, and she went ahead and and and put Tammy on it instead of Dolly and Mike. It's pretty much just the image is very similar. So she was just admitting. She didn't say anything, she just sent me that picture.

Matty: Well, we just watched together. Megan wasn't with us, but we watched the pastor's wife on that flip. Have you seen it?

Megan: I've seen half of it.

Matty: And Melissa messages Megan in our group chat and says, Have you watched The Preacher's Wife? And I'm like, You mean the pastor's wife? And she goes, Dolly Dolly, Pastor Preacher, 60s Habsies. And I'm like, oh boy, girl, you need to really check your well.

Megan: Let's just get to have we're also we have something in common with Dolly, with these hurricane names, and you're going on and on, like it's all new information. And I think many of us knew, you know, many of us knew that they have these names that they name the hurricanes or these tropical storms every year, and that they go alphabetical.

JJ: Yeah.

Megan: And when you were going on about these names, and then you're like, well, Dolly is next on deck, and Julio's happening now. And we're like, well, but they're supposed to go alphabetical. Like, how is Dolly on deck?

Matty: And then I acknowledge that in the moment, like, yeah, you're right. Someone's not tracked.

Megan: And then you immediately like, let's move on.

Matty: I kept moving.

Megan: Well, when that taping ended, I immediately got to sleuthing. Because I'm like, She sure did. This does not seem right. Like, I've known about this hurricane naming situation. And I didn't know that my name had been retired. I'm like, that doesn't make sense. I don't ever remember my name being out there with a storm. And it wasn't that long ago that Matty had said it was retired.

JJ: I mean, this last episode really got you both you on one side researching about Dolly and Megan on the other side researching about this.

Megan: Because I'm like, this whole thing, I'm like, I knew a little bit about it before it got brought up.

Matty: But you did learn a few things.

Megan: What I learned, and I want other people to know, is there are actually 10 lists of names for tropical storms around the world. The one that we're most familiar with that Dolly was on, not Julio. Right. Was the Atlantic list. Okay. And the Atlantic list, I think, is what Americans are.

JJ: Julia wasn't the Atlantic.

Megan: Correct. And that's what Americans, I think, are most familiar with because the Atlantic is what affects us the most and where we're getting most damage from our tropical storms.

Matty: I'm just waiting.

Megan: So yes. That was accurate. Dolly was next up. She's come and gone. Julio is.

Matty: She was just a whisper. Yes.

Megan: So her name's still out there.

Matty: Edward, which tracks Edward alphabetically after. Like that. He he made a lot of news. Okay. Because there was a lot of flooding because of Edward. But again, he's not been retired. They didn't retire him because it was next year.

Megan: And Megan in the Atlantic. Yes. And Megan was from the Australia list.

Matty: Okay. Right. Not the Atlantic list. So here's the thing.

Megan: There's about 10 lists around the world.

Matty: Can I just we can't compare Melissa's Dolly Gate to my tropical storm coverage? Well hold on. Real quick, here's what I'm gonna say. For the episode, I zeroed in on relatable things for each of our names. Everything I said was true. However, I was not aware of these 10 different things.

JJ: And so I thought you do with new research before.

Matty: But I but I was just trying to make it about each of us. And then contextually, if you put it into the bigger picture, then thing questions come up. And we've cleared them. Yeah.

Megan: And now, after we did a revisit.

JJ: Yeah. And it's kind of on brand, Matty, because we've usually fact check you in a few things. So yes.

Matty: Well, and just so you know, JJ, you came and went, and you are not retired either as well. So you will be back next year. You and Dolly will both be back next year, which is on different lists. On different lists. There we go.

JJ: They will be on different lists.

Matty: 100%. And so this year was Arthur, Bertha, Cristobal, which I like that name.

JJ: Cristobal.

Matty: Cristobal? No. Okay. Crystal Ball. Dolly and Edward. And the next one up, just in case anyone's wondering, is Faye.

JJ: Faye. Faye? Faye. Oh, like can you spell it? F-A-Y. Faye. Oh. I don't think I think. For the Atlantic.

Megan: Like Faye Danaway?

JJ: I thought that she was F-E-Y. F-A-Y-E-E.

Matty: Yeah, she was F-A-Y-E.

JJ: Okay. But I I'm thinking about also like Faye from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, that she was like Kyle's Richards friend. Yes.

Megan: And her, she's also an F-A-Y-E. Yeah.

Matty: The more you know.

JJ: The more you know. Talking about this, uh, I just said Kyle Richards. Have you guys all caught up with uh Real Housewives of uh the 20th anniversary um Ultimate Girls Trip?

Matty: Yeah, I'm not watching it yet.

JJ: You haven't. No, it's so good. I I you don't like it.

Megan: It's it's okay. It's not my favorite.

JJ: You know what I've what I like about it is like if I were to introduce any of my friends that have not watched any of the housewives to the housewives, I I would tell them to watch this episode, this Ultimate Scroll Trip first. Because they see they do see a glimpse of all most of the Housewives throughout the years, and that could probably get them into watching the Housewives.

Megan: Yeah, I don't think this should be happening.

JJ: Yeah, it's just a product, like what's happening?

Megan: It's for anyone who can't see, yeah. Matty is trying to do a massage around his neck. Well, and it's distracting and noisy.

Matty: Yeah, I didn't. I didn't. I pulled a muscle.

Megan: Well, it's not appropriate during the recording. No, no, I think my thing is what I like about housewives, and they've gotten away from it over the years, and that's where I kind of go back and forth on some of the episodes with the current seasons of the Real Housewives is I enjoy it as a glimpse into people's lives who have so much more, and they take fabulous trips, they wear amazing clothes, they have great jewelry, they have beautiful houses. I like seeing that whole lifestyle and I like having the friendships and how they truly some of them are truly our friends, sometimes family.

JJ: Yeah.

Megan: I like the interplay of those relationships and seeing it in this amazing kind of aspirational world, whereas it's now gotten into oh, let's all dress up and do this, or let's go here in these costumes. Somewhat scripted, and then there's these weird fights, and it's they're fighting over nothing. The fights will drag on for five episodes, and it's literally over nothing. And I think that's gotten away from what Housewives truly was. And I really don't enjoy it as much as I used to. And the Ultimate Girls trip has gotten a little bit, they're going to the different cities, which I think is fun, and bringing in the different housewives, but I don't like the outfits and the dressing up in like, oh, let's dress up 80s or let's relive this bunko night. I don't enjoy this.

Matty: Become pretty formulaic to your point. They create these scenes, and it's like every housewife is charged with like one event or something, and then there's these themes like you speak of.

Megan: Well, I don't mind an event if you really throw a big party every day. I want to see that party.

JJ: Yeah, 100%. Like Kyle Richard's Y Party. That was something that even before the housewives. She did that, she would do that on her own.

Matty: So it felt very authentic. But some of these parties were now they're like, we're gonna bring in a psychic and all that jazz, you know.

JJ: Like Kelly from Real Housewives of Atlanta, she threw in a party about like the Balenciaga uh store, and I'm like, she's like, I do this every time. Like, no, like it's not something that you would do every day. Like they would not close a store just for you, like they're doing it because of Bravo. Yes, yeah. Well, so I mean I I like it. I'm I'm enjoying it. I sorry, yeah. So I'm like, I just want to throw it out there.

Matty: Are you saying that you are dialing it back on your are you gonna show you?

Megan: I'm still watching them all, but um I'm enjoying them less, and they're becoming less shows that I watch intently and more shows in the background. Yeah, that's fair. And that's because they're dressing up in these weird outfits and stuff. I don't care about a costume, I care about your day-to-day wear of like what's fashionable, what's in season, or your house and how you've decorated it, or the trip you're going on in this, you know, fabulous country or hotels and things.

Matty: I have another question for you, Megan. This is I'm taking it off this topic. I'm gonna start with her.

Megan: Okay.

Matty: And then I because she really thought she knew the answer to what the song of the summer was going to be. And we are transitioning to fall.

JJ: And when this episode drops, we're done.

Matty: Summer will be in the rear view. And Megan, um, how do you what do you think the song of the summer was too?

Megan: I don't think there was one, unfortunately.

Matty: Go West. Move West. Go West is still bad. Move West. Your best.

Megan: Well, I have a caveat. There is a song that recently dropped, so it would be a summer song. And that would be The Peach Life.

JJ: And that is Oh, do you think?

Megan: Oh, I love it. Oh, I don't know.

JJ: It's by Cynthia Bailey. Yes. Um, it's real house left to Atlanta. It's real good.

Matty: Also, no, this just popped in my head, but Lisa Barlow has a second song. Yeah. Yes. Oh, yeah. To Baby Gorgeous. I don't know what it was, what it is, but we'll have to see.

Megan: So I don't think like Andy and John did a whole rundown on Song of the Summer. And so far, like actually, I will give it, I'll say Madonna. So Madonna Danceteria. I think that's the best song of the summer that we have.

Matty: She just got nominated for the most number of VMAs for thewesome. Yeah. I will say this. I said Ella Langley, and I did a little. Really?

Megan: Is that that country song?

Matty: Okay, I did a little research. So three different categories or three different, I guess, sources. Billboard, Spotify, and TikTok. According to Billboard 100 or whatever it is, it was Ella Langley, Choose in Texas. It spent 20 weeks at number one over the course of the summer. According to Spotify, it's because of the number of streams. It was Hate That I Made You Love Me by Ariana Grande. And on TikTok, this was shocking to me. It's really based on, I guess, the number of videos they've made to music. It wasn't even a new release. It was Katy Perry's 2011, the one that got away, which I don't follow the trends as much.

JJ: Well, yeah, because now the trending, yeah, because I mean Megan and I talked about it because we managed some social medias with us. You do. Um, and they're you do you boo. You do you, boo. So there is either your songs, like songs for you, but also there is a section that is trending songs, and you can see them going up and down. Uh, there's a specific arrow that goes up and down, and you can see like there's those songs like KDP.

Megan: But I don't think the methodology in my mind for Song of the Summer is the like most downloads. I know, I'm just giving you a big thing. We're ranked on Billboard. In my opinion, it goes beyond that. Well, I and I think the closest thing, honestly, to it would be Madonna dance eteria.

Matty: I think it's very subjective, and I give you the dance eteria. I think for for some of the criteria someone might use, I think it checks a lot of boxes.

JJ: I think that dance eteria actually got me back to loving Madonna. Uh I constantly, I said it before the pod. I am constantly listening to that when I'm uh at the gym.

Matty: I'm excited for the VMAs, and I haven't watched them in years, but I'm gonna tune in because of how many. I am a little disappointed though. On I don't know how what music you all listen to, but I am on um not three. Well, I'm on the you know, the streaming music or whatever, and they don't play your music much, which I feel like it should be more. on some of the all the stations that I listen to and go through on Sirius. And it's really just on the BPM dance. I mean, I don't know.

Megan: And that's a serious that's serious. I feel like Sirius, that's my big complaint. I love Sirius, but my big complaint is I don't feel like they have a good channel for all around just good hit music and new music.

JJ: It's too segmented.

Megan: Yeah, it's all versus it's like dance. It's like party hits. It's this.

Matty: It's like they do have like a pop top hits and I don't hear her on there.

Megan: Well because they put her in this dance category, which I think is wrong.

JJ: I think you can be both I was going to say that because Candy's Candy Cohen's Kiki Lounge Plazer is channel 312 and Series XM. He's got all the hits there and the bangers and new old and new um we get you get a good combo of Aretha and Miley and Madonna and Lady Gaga and Cher. So yeah. I agree with Andy the way to go for his Kiki Lounge.

Megan: I agree.

JJ: And I feel a little bit bad for bad and excited at the same time for Miley Cyrus. She just dropped a banger but it's not a fall like it we're done with the summer. What's the name of it? Bass Pers... Bass Persuade. Bass Persuade. Bass. Yes. Bass Persuade. B-A-S-S. Bass Persuade.

Matty: Is it bass?

JJ: No it's bass because I um this says A L.

Matty: It's kind of I love the song. Yes. It's kind of a weird title.

JJ: Yeah I mean I love the fact that she it there's no reference to it as much to that title but there's a lot of uh like the kids nowadays don't dance anymore. Which is so true.

Matty: They just kind of stand and move slightly.

JJ: Yeah.

Megan: What I don't get is this whole like am I missing something? They're making this big deal about her dropping her last name. Like what's so Oh I didn't know that.

JJ: Yeah she is she's been major about it.

Megan: Just I mean she's going by Miley instead of Miley's name.

JJ: It's like a new they're thinking about a new era of Miley.

Matty: Well is she also maybe trying to be like known like her legacy like a share or a Madonna a one name probably because Miley is pretty unique.

JJ: Well I feel like she already has that without trying so well I have to say that Beyonce sent um Miley Cyrus is another one bouquet of flowers for the releasing of his um new single Bass per suede Beyoncé and she said to the queen of pop.

Megan: So even Beyonce is calling her the queen of pop oh interesting I like that so everybody's talking about that well I don't think I mean I feel like Madonna is queen of pop with Michael king of pop and I don't think they're relinquishing their thrones. I think there's a baton that can be passed I think so too I agree. I mean it can be for something new I think that a queen of what? Well she doesn't need to be she can be a princess of she doesn't need to be queen I mean queen remains queen I'm not giving up on Madonna as my queen and Michael as my king so she can be a princess she can be in the royal family she's more than a princess I don't know okay I'll call her president of pop president of the pop president how about we move on I'm gonna work on a new title for Miley book I'm working on a new title for my buzz all right well let me say this so I had my mind blown last week and it came again from my dear I like to call him friend Jeff Lewis friend and on Jeff he'd love it if we never met in real life. But anyway he had on Phaedra Parks oh and if you don't know who Phaedra is she is uh was on the original no maybe not the original cast she came in the couple seasons in I think season two that's when she came in Real Housewives of Atlanta and she is you know Phaedra right I do I love her I don't I don't watch Real Housewives of Atlanta but I just love her and she's been on Traitors and a girls trip I watched and she's on clips she's got that Southern charm she's so funny. She's just naturally funny she's very funny very smart she's a lawyer very smart she's also a mortician now she is she has a funeral home and puts on funerals yeah she's I'm not a big fan of funerals but I love that piece of info. And she's a practicing attorney so and she like Matty said super funny always has the greatest little one-liners and phrases she's a fabulous dresser I've always loved her my mind was blown because talk about a crossover we didn't know was going to happen we've been talking about all these original MTV king and queens Madonna Michael okay well okay MTV also was the beginning of reality TV as we know it was true the real world yeah so take Phaedra Parks take MTV and you get Phaedra is dating CT Tamburello who was on the real world Paris and then became a constant person on the CT super cute.

JJ: I always had a crush on him back in the day on the real world he was one of my favorites on real world and I don't remember him on traitors he was on traitors Phaedra called him they were in the same season right yes his her castle daddy and now we love a daddy dating so he's going to the Emmys together CT is presenting my guess is it's for a reality show we'll see yeah um but they're dating they're like officially it's official it's out I love that for that so the guy that she was dating or so like kind of dating on like um I think it was also like a real house of was she in love hotel no no she was dating a uh a guy like a younger guy um L C T I think I haven't done their ages uh I feel like he's a little younger shocking I'm surprised you don't have that piece of intel well I honestly I never like imagined in your wildest dreams this real world real housewife bravo MTV crossover I mean nowadays I expect the unexpected and I love it and the CT still looks really good he actually won didn't he win did he win Traitors I don't know but I did find out for he should have brought well it wasn't a plan to talk about it I got all caught up in the um Madonna Michael and we were talking about the Real Housewives and it just like oh my god my mind was a track when you were trying to Princess of poppy won season two of traitors like Princess of Poppy Castle Daddy. Well so CT won uh season two of Traitors alongside fellow reality TV star Trishelle.

Matty: Yeah that's right also they weren't on the same season together.

JJ: Fedra yes CT Fedra did not win.

Matty: But that was season two?

Megan: Yeah season only four seasons oh it seems like it's been around for a long time well it has been in other countries in other countries yeah so maybe that's your tropical storm but anyway there's different lists Mary right thank you Jeff and Jeff Lewis live because Jeff Lewis questioned Phaedra about it and she was on Jeff's show on Friday of last week and CT was there with her and so Jeff's like I can confirm because Phaedra is being dodgy about the questions and Jeff was like I can confirm he's in the green room it's a confirmed there you go and then Phaedra kind of admitted it and then said yes I'm his date to the Emmys he's presenting and it's been going on for several months.

JJ: Wow you heard it here second exactly exactly exactly oh that's so good that's so good.

Megan: It kind of goes into like Andy Cohen actually now he already heart launched his boyfriend but now they're out and about yep oh yeah once you launch it you might switch he said that he was a little bit hesitant about like going into like the whole reality TV in the house first but that's what you get well everyone who's everyone who was from New York and in the Hamptons like a week ago were all out and about for John Mayer's concert. Yeah and Andy was there with his boyfriend along with Howard and his beautiful wife Beth yeah they're friends everyone yes and they and then they just did for anyone who is a Sirius XM listener I'll give you this Radio Andy has now moved to 101 channel 101 Howard has given it up it's almost like we are a paid sponsor for him and we could be we could be well so Howard has always traditionally had two channels on Sirius XM. His new contract he only has to produce one show a week okay and he's given up channel 101 to Radio Andy this is like I mean this is like we are in brunch talking about nothing and everything at the same time because this shit is a contract.

JJ: I do have a question for you, Matty. I'm sure that Megan might chime in. Now that we're talking about Andy Cohen and his boyfriend, he does call him very often, 'my fella.'

Matty: Yes, he does. My fella.

JJ: Okay. How do you feel about somebody calling you like that?

Megan: I think it's cute.

JJ: The question was to Matty.

Matty: Fella. That's true. That is true. And you're like, 'I'm sure Megan will chime in.' Sure enough. I was pondering it. I gotta get it out.

JJ: Don't ponder too long.

Matty: Calling him a fella. Okay. My fella all the time. I don't have a straightforward answer. Okay I will say in general I don't like it as a term of endearment broadly but if someone used it for me and it felt personal to me I would embrace it and like it okay like I don't think everyone's going around saying my fella my fella so it kind of makes it cute for them if everybody was using it then I probably would be like fella I don't know we can do better.

JJ: It's cute I think that at the beginning he he wanted to avoid calling him by his name so he started saying my fella and I think that Jordan also from the show uh Radio Andy she would try to chime in and say hey can you just like call him by his name I just don't know how I feel that somebody I mean I I know that you know now that we're grown up some sometimes like a boyfriend is like feels like are we grown up no yes no we're not a boyfriend feels like could be like my dad would be like my man friend yeah my dad JJ was always my man friend yes I remember I remember when I looked at your dad's phone because I am his tech support, and I have been for many years. Well, for any new listeners, JJ and I used to date. Yeah we're we used to Dave Jesus best friend style but we're family now yeah yeah yeah my dad would always be like oh he'd introduce us as like this is my son Matt and his man friends but then one of those days that I was actually like helping him with his phone I noticed that I was named as Matt's friend quote friend really he has it still I think it's like Matt's Matt's... well, it might have changed, so it was tech support. It might have changed to tech support. Probably. Probably changed to tech support. But I don't know. Like, I got a title when you're like grown up and like a boyfriend like fella I'd never thought about like having that floor we can now you can say like what is your I like it and he says it usually in kind of a cute way he's like my fella oh I don't like that though yeah that's how he says it I can see Andy's it was me and my my fella that's a good impression can you say it in vegan sexy way I think well no because Andy doesn't say it in that way no but I want to hear it well come on Natella I'm coming to the cottage with my to meet my with your fella yeah to meet my fella so do you find with fella and like probably man friend I I don't like man friend but I like fella.

Megan: Who does like man friend it's funny and cute but I like I agree with the idea of at a certain point you don't want to say my boyfriend. It feels young and childish so I can say my fella partner I'd be too much committed we've had this conversation because partner does not really respond well to partner because they think we've talked about it on the pot like about partner she gets worried people are gonna think she's a lesbian that's that's true that's a woman I if I say my partner I immediately I bit my tongue but I was like no I bit my tongue I had some uh crazy dentist appointment this week oh okay well all right well speaking of crazy oh oh oh you I'm great transition she loves it speaking this is great because it's her product yeah CRZ Yoga sorry I yep you are I'm obsessed over this new product great it's made by CRZ Yoga, which is spelled C-R-Z Yoga, and as it kind of hints at it's like athletic wear but if you know like those like soft scuba butter um stop like I don't know can you scuba for me feels like oh sleek soft so it's like a athletic wear. Oh, so athletic wear from like Lululemon, Athleta, okay. I... this is Lux Soft scuba um I hadn't heard the term soft scuba but I like it I forget which brand uses that but so you know the scuba fabric is kind of um a little more rigid so soft scuba is that same kind of fabric makeup but super soft and kind of silky and kind of flows on you. So I recently had started buying some of this stuff for my like everyday out and about athletic wear for Pilates, yoga classes, etc but it's so expensive. It is so then I'm constantly monitoring sales waiting for something to go on sale and then I saw an influencer that I follow uh Courtney Kerr she was on a long-term old school reality show back in the day on Bravo she's from Dallas she's created a whole lifestyle influencer situation for herself called currently she's like, 'I'm obsessed with these CRZ Yoga capri pants,' to leggings to wear so they're on sold on Amazon I bought them I love them I've bought their tennis skirts so I now have like four or five pairs of these CRZ Yoga things. Do you wear them for pickleball or no? I wear the skirts out and about, and I wear the leggings to Pilates. But when we play pickleball again, I probably will be wearing a CRZ Yoga tennis skirt.

Matty: I've said on the pod, I have two items from them them that you turned me on well you didn't turn me on to these items you turned me on to the brand and I have two items in my cart right now I've got the motion pocket workout pant 30 inch inseam so they're gonna hit me right above the ankle and I've got a cloud jersey pullover hoodie long sleeve with a pocket. So and the prices to your point they're amazing like I and your testimony of how already having these products I've got super high expectations because I don't I like Lululemon but I don't like I'm like come on everything's over a hundred it's stupid yes I think that Lululemon I'm a fan and it's it it it is kind of a lifestyle you see that little logo and like it's just like becomes like that.

JJ: I was very impressed when I went to the CRZ Yoga website because they not only had the five inch no but they have a 3.5 and a four inch that seems they're the shorty shorts that you like.

Megan: So and let me say this like Lululemon is kind of a little bit on the outs with the kids. They're all about Alo Yoga now. But anyway I will say talking about prices good for you guys so the tennis skirts that I love because they've got the little pants underneath with pockets um 20 $28 well or dog treats or your phone or dog treats well I'm often in the tennis skirts when I'm at home walking the dog the capris they have a style with the pockets I like the capri leggings $28.

JJ: That's good they have a longer yeah I'm trusting you on regards of the the quality the quality that's the only thing that because I this one thing that I go back to Lulu about it is just it is pricey but the quality and the texture and the feel of the fabric is like like nobody.

Matty: My stuff is $40 for the pants and $38 for that's not the hot fudge pullover hoodie. Well which it's hot fudge interesting because I um but I was on there and I had different pricing. Well I put two items in my cart and I got 10% off oh well the I have I'm on the site not on the Amazon. So should I... oh, you were on CRZ Yoga. Megan: So men's motion pants pivot pivot pivot $36 the men's cloud jersey pullover hoodie $3420.

JJ: Well yes I will pivot so you went into like what is it crazy fudge with prime no not crazy fudge no the pants that you pick hot fudge and the other one what do you mean color color gray sage yeah you really are going with the earthy colors even with ridiculous they only have neutrals just so you know which is No, big alley. Correct. Well, and let me preface that: beige and brown, the neutrals are for men because in the women I wish that there were some a little bit more color.

Megan: The women's like the tennis skirt has probably like 20 different colors but 20 yeah we always get the shaft but some of the other products have less so it kind of I think depends I'm excited I mean fudge and sage fudge and sage well I'm I just bought a tennis skirt from Nordstrom that's Zella it was $79.

Matty: And Zella's cheaper than like a Lululemon or Athleta. How many tennis skirts for a non-tennis player do you need I am a tennis player.

JJ: Well oh well tell you that but that's what I like to wear are the tennis skirts with the built-in skorts those are my like day-to-day summer outfits they're comfortable they're easy summer over girl I'm excited about this and I'm I'm ready I'm ready to just test it out put the order up through our Linktree and to just test it out, put the order up through our Linktree and get those CRZ Yoga... I've... Matty: Slip it in to things that we love can I go first things that we love yes I'm excited pull it out and pull it out what are these things we just can't deal with can't deal with them. Matty speaking of the floor is yours speaking of tennis oh mice you don't know oh no you might know a little bit it's kind of a double slip okay I slip it at US Open is out yes I'm loving it it's my favorite of the four championships the William sisters played yeah unfortunately spoiler alert they're no longer in a first round however related to this there has been a viral tennis ball created what every time you hit it it grunts oh

JJ: Yeah. Oh. I wonder who they used.

Matty: Okay, so the guy's name is at Dexer2. D-E-X-E-R-T-O is his Instagram.

JJ: Yeah.

Matty: And so it's a tennis ball. Has gone viral because it loudly grunts every time it gets hit or bounces. Here's how it works, according to the report. A standard test tennis ball gets sliced open. Inside goes a compact circuit with a tiny impact or shock sensor. The ball is resealed so it still plays and bounces like normal. The sensor detects the jolt from a racket and then wirelessly triggers a Bluetooth speaker sitting courtside.

Megan: Oh, so it's coming from a I don't like that.

Matty: You don't like that. But you might like this. They've gotten requests for a Michael Jackson version.

JJ: Probably like a can you imagine? Would be heaven. Could you imagine? That would be that is heaven. Okay. Would you get the blue?

Megan: Would you get the Bluetooth speaker for a why can't it make a noise like dog toys do?

JJ: I would love a little Cher moment.

Matty: It's like, oh you you hit it and it's like, oh that's I mean, there's so much potential. You can love it. That's so much. I know. Yes. And can you imagine just pretend like you don't have the ball, but you're on the courts with someone that does, and all of a sudden you're playing and you're like, what is going on?

Megan: Or even a oh well, I feel like sometimes I've given a little grunt. Yeah.

JJ: Yeah. We're still talking about tennis.

Megan: Yeah. Well, no, when I'm hitting the ball.

JJ: Yeah, I'm sure. Yeah. I'm we're still talking about tennis. Are you in the bedroom? Okay.

Matty: Um, so JJ and I yesterday had a this is my moving into my pull out.

JJ: Okay.

Matty: JJ and I were running a lot of errands yesterday, and some funny things happened. Um, people just I think it was because I was wearing Megan my storyteller hat. And I think it brings people want to talk to me on his head. On his head.

Megan: I can't.

Matty: People want to talk to me, and that's not okay, Chris. I don't see. I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna talk about some of those stories maybe in a future episode because they stick with me. Here's the thing as we're going from store to store to store to store, this happened, and I told JJ, I cannot stand it. This happens all the time. You are at a stoplight, and whoever is in line in front of you, the light has gone green. Clearly, they're on their phone. Oh, yeah. And so you there's how much time is left you lose so much time of your life collectively because people are stopped looking at their phone, occasionally looking up.

Megan: Well, do you tap your horn?

Matty: I do.

Megan: Sometimes I do every time. It's ridiculous.

Matty: Are you good? Do you guys have a hundred percent? I will glance at a stop, but I because I pisses me off so much, because some like it usually causes at least one person not to make the light, if not two, because if you were paying attention, we could have all made the light. 100%. But no girl or boy, you had to be on your phone, and you're not you're looking down, and then you're like, oh sorry, I just can't.

JJ: It drives me insane, and it could be a cause of an accident.

Matty: Well, yeah, but at a stoplight, maybe not, but like in all of it, yeah, combined, it's not great. But I just get really annoyed. Like, especially if you're first in line, you have a duty. I have a duty to have your eye on the green arrow ready to turn left.

Megan: Well, sometimes it's not even the first in the line person, it isn't. It's second, third, or fourth. It is. That's it. And let me tell you, I'm always a beep beep, and then I've gotten I've gotten a lot of flip-offs because of it.

JJ: Oh, people get pissed. Exactly. They get mad at you.

Megan: Then I'm beeping my horn. It's like it's a green light. You're not going. I have every right to beep my points. I do it as a little, hey, hey, let's go. And they're taking it as... they're not interpreting a 'hey.' They're interpreting it like, 'you fucking...'

JJ: I think that there is an opportunity. Well, that's just not unfold that right now. Um, it could be an opportunity for the honk then to be like, woo-hoo.

Megan: Oh, if I could get a Michael honk, that would be heaven.

Matty: Oh my god, shh. We're gonna have to edit that out because that's a great idea. Someone might see it. We should get custom honks.

Megan: Tesla. I thought Tesla has that. You can uh change your honk on the Tesla. Oh really?

Matty: Yeah, I think Tesla it.

JJ: I don't either. So pull it out.

Megan: Anti-Elan.

JJ: it in. It is the second season of the show in Hulu uh Adults. I cannot get enough of it. I didn't tried the first season. I didn't sound on it. It's also I do love me, and this is kind of a double slip. I'd love me a 20-minute, 24-minute max comedy show. Like it just brings up the mood, it's just short and sweet, and it's I can make it without falling asleep. Right, because you usually are even when when watching a movie, you watch it in a 15, 20-minute increment.

Matty: I do. I treat it like a series. Yes.

JJ: But the show adults is like if for those that have not watched it yet, is it's meant to be for those that have like you're done with college. Now adult life is in. They all live together. These friends live together, trying to figure it out life. It's so funny. It's like kind of a bitter version of uh overcompensating that I really like. I didn't watch that either. Yeah, but I think it's so good. It's so so good. The show adults, um, you better go and watch it.

Matty: What is it on?

JJ: What it's on FX, but it just goes into Hulu. You know, FX and Hulu are like all combined. Okay. The rest, I'm not having a pullout, I'm having to live it in because I really not know. I don't know if this is a pullout or live in. We can know that you will have an opinion about this.

Matty: Ready, Megan?

JJ: Um I think I've become my father. Oh, when it comes to readdiness road rage.

Matty: Oh, sorry. Oh road rage. We're back on the traffic.

JJ: Yes. And it's interesting that you're going. I feel like I remember growing up.

Megan: Well, I was probably giving you a hey, hey.

JJ: You were gonna be like, woohoo. But I I found myself thinking, like, I remember in times when I was like probably five, seven years old, I'm like, that is really grumpy on this road. I've become that person.

Matty: Okay.

JJ: On the road. Like it's like very I've seen it off the road. But it's like in between like the Michigan construction, which is getting crazier and crazier. Let's just not get into that. But it's just like as pull it out. But I've become one of those persons like I do think that there's people that drive worse during rain than snow. And I'm like constantly like that person on the phone, and I've become my father. Like I'd become a big thing.

Matty: So is it a leave it in because you feel like am I part of me feels I'm justified to be this way, and part of me is like, should I really take it so seriously?

JJ: Thank you that you're making that clarification. That's a live it in for me because I I just don't know if this is a good. I mean, it reminds me of my father. So there's like a moment of like, right. Sometimes I have that conversation with my dad's father.

Megan: Is what's that's the issue.

JJ: Well, that's a good thing though. Like, I'm like, I feel like, oh, like I get the memories from my dad when I'm in the middle of it. I'm like, oh, this is exactly what my dad would have done. And I was complaining about it when I was a little child at the same time. I see.

Matty: I've had these moments where I'm like, oh my god, I am my dad.

JJ: I have turned into so that's why it's a live it in for me. Okay, that was good, yeah interesting.

Megan: Well, my slip it in is Lionel Richie. And I have this because American Idol's coming out again. He's one of the judges on American Idol. He is so amazing on that show, and he is always the consummate professional in every situation. And I love that you can see how his early days at Motown have not only shaped him as a performer, but on how to handle the media and how to handle people how he talks to these contestants and handles himself. And he always is so stands up. Well, he does stand up, but he and he always does this, he puts his hands together and it's a little prayer.

JJ: I'm gonna tell you something.

Megan: Yeah, I'm gonna tell you something. But when he says that, I'm like standing there with like faded breath of like what's Lionel gonna say. I love that.

JJ: That's a slip it in for me. It's usually whenever you say better breath.

Megan: Oh, it's on my it's usually something kind of breath, yeah profound. So he's been as a possibility for me as a slip it in. I've been waiting for him to come back, American Idol to come back. But now he's also my pull it out. I am very nervous. Yeah, for anyone who hasn't seen the news, Lionel is 77. He struggled at a concert a few months ago, I think back in June or July, where he had to sit down. I saw that too. Uh, like a week ago at a St. Louis concert, he had to uh sit down during his final song all night long, and then he immediately went and checked himself in to a hospital and he was there for three days in the ICU before he finally went back to LA. He's now home, he's released, he's supposedly doing great, but we don't really know what's going on with him and to have two issues. His team is kind of saying his issues were from dehydration and just being performing and being dehydrated.

Matty: Dancing on the ceiling.

Megan: Well, exactly. So I'm very nervous. Yeah, hopefully, after Dolly, I'm hoping Lionel's just fine. His next concert is September 26th in San Francisco. So hopefully he's there performing and doesn't need a chair at the last song.

Matty: Hopefully.

Megan: And everything's well.

Matty: Yeah, our thoughts are with Lionel. 100%.
