Can You Imagine? 31-Mile Taco Bell Run, Brandi Glanville Thinks It's a Worm & $350 Advent Calendars
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Questions or Comments: Slip It In Here!
The Slippers have spoken, and Megan is setting the record straight. After a Céline Dion fan challenges her comments about René Angélil, she revisits what she said and gives credit where it's due. Then Matty and JJ revisit their Detroit Free Press Half Marathon experience, where one wanted selfies along the way and the other just wanted to cross the finish line. That leads to Denver's outrageous Taco Bell 50K, a 31-mile ultramarathon requiring runners to stop at 10 Taco Bells, eat along the way and somehow survive the consequences.
Are advent calendars a vibe or boomer? With brands offering everything from chocolates and beauty products to dog treats and $350 jewelry calendars, the countdown to Christmas has become serious business. The conversation also turns to Trader Joe's latest beauty find, Michelin-starred chefs who love Taco Bell and a Real Housewives star whose wedding menu couldn't quite deliver her favorite fast food.
Brandi Glanville's ongoing facial health concerns and Kyle Richards' public $500 GoFundMe donation spark a bigger question: Should someone's generosity be judged by how much they can afford to give? Then Slip It Ins and Pull It Outs bring Alanis Morissette's Q&Q philosophy, Matty's experience with Raynaud's phenomenon, an unexpected gym compliment, the debate over wearing makeup to work out and Megan's missed opportunity to cash in on Denny's limited-edition Sticky Kicks.

Slip It In Podcast — Episode 72
Full Episode Transcript
Megan: This episode is a whirlwind. We start with addressing some fan controversy with Céline Dion.
JJ: And from Advent calendars to Real Housewives alum Brandi Glanville, and even if you're wearing makeup or not to the gym, we really need your opinion.
Matty: We talk about Taco Bell and Michelin chefs' love for their food and menu items, all the way down to runners craving it during the ultra marathon.
JJ: Season two, episode 72.
Intro voice: You laugh, you'll cringe, you'll beg for more with a guilty pleasure you can't ignore. Like a drug text sent at 2 a.m. We slipped it in again.
Megan: Welcome, welcome, welcome, everyone. We're back, slipping it in with you, bringing you the unhinged brunch conversation that you just can't stop listening to. It's really about everything and nothing all at the same time. I'm Megan and I'm here with Matty and JJ.
Matty: Hello. Hello. How's everyone doing?
Megan: Good. Very good. I have to say I have been kind of obsessed with the Céline Dion information that's been coming out about her uh amazing concert in Paris or her multiple concerts. I guess it's sort of a mini residency. And I don't know if you guys saw it, but she had this fall on stage that literally like she recovered from like nothing. And when I tell you, ooh, yeah, it was. I mean, she was doing a sidestep dance in very high stilettos, like knowing stilettos and trying to do a sidestep dance, I wouldn't have attempted it. Like I was impressed she was even doing this little dance.
JJ: She's feeling good about it.
Megan: Yes. Well, but then, as we all know, what a sl stiletto can do, they slide out from under you.
JJ: Well, you don't know about that because I've never worn them.
Megan: Okay. Well, for all the gays who were dressed in drag and had a stiletto on and all my girlies, you know, those heels out of nowhere just take out from underneath you.
Matty: I do know on trips we've been on that Megan will say, Can we please not go on the cobblestone?
Megan: Yeah. Cobblestone is a nightmare with the stiletto. Yeah.
JJ: That's why the doctor doesn't want you on the stilettos either.
Megan: Yes. Well, Céline was doing this jig like I've never seen in the stilettos and out from under. She fell down on her side and immediately jumped back up, kept singing. Like that was an amazing recovery. Yeah, beyond like the fact that she's dealing with the stiff person syndrome. Yeah. But I do need to acknowledge some commentary we received from one of our slippers. So I was 100% called out by HopeWickham5953 on YouTube because Hope had some various uh issues with the comments that I said René kept Céline hidden away from her fans and totally kept her kind of in a little box, in my opinion.
Matty: I knew in the moment because you said something to me when we were recording. Like, you're you're like, I agree, Matty. I'm like, well, wait a minute. I'm not saying what you're saying.
Megan: Yes. So I really thought René was kind of this controlling figure in her life, but apparently, according to Hope, who is a big Céline Dion fan, she said it was really the media who kind of portrayed Céline poorly and kind of made it seem like René was keeping her away from fans when in fact he never did. He loved her fans. So after reading Hope's comment, I did some research. And I have to say, when I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
Matty: And Hope, you are right, Hope. Yes, you are right. Good job, Hope.
Megan: René, rest in peace, did not really hinder Céline from her fans or keep her boxed away. So I apologize to Hope, Céline, René, R.I.P. And all of Céline's fans. I'm sorry. Thank you for setting me straight, Hope.
JJ: Which, by the looks of it, um, Hope's account is all about Céline's.
Matty: We are following Hope now. Yeah, we follow you, Hope. We I mean, I think at the end of the day, even though we were expressing ourselves just about Céline as an icon that's been a presence in our life, it was all meant to be positive, but we might add a little slip-up here or there. Exactly. But we're Céline fans. We are we're Céline.
Megan: Céline fans. Yes. That's kind of a tongue twist. Céline fans. You have to really think about it, or you'll start.
JJ: I wonder if they have a name. You know, sometimes some celebrities. Yeah.
Matty: Yeah. Like the Celinas or something.
Megan: Yeah, but that gets into other territory.
Matty: Oh, yeah.
Megan: Well, right.
Matty: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Good call. Good call. Okay. So I'm glad, Megan, you made amends with hope. Um I wanted to say from a Michigan standpoint, up and coming, we have the Detroit Marathon happening in eight days from now. It'll be like four days or whatever when this drops. It's very cool. Yeah. Um, JJ, you and I have we did the half years ago.
JJ: And it's the Detroit Free Press Marathon is known because it's the only one that is an international marathon.
Megan: Which is amazing. Yes. You cross international borders.
Matty: Right. And is it the only one? Well, yeah. It is the only one.
Megan: The only one.
Matty: Probably you start in one country, go into another. We went over the bridge and back through the tunnel, and we did the half marathon. Um, it's a great I did it twice. I did it um once with you, JJ, and then a second one.
JJ: And that was enough for me.
Matty: Why don't you tell their listeners why it was enough?
JJ: Well, I was telling because I think that when we were talking about this, you mentioned, I mean, I wonder if eventually this Detroit Free Press Marathon will start with the new bridge. I can recall what the name of Gordie Howe bridge. Because when we go through this route for the Detroit Free Press Marathon, when you go to the ambassador bridge and come come back to the tunnel, you're already a mile eight.
Matty: Coming, yeah. Coming back on it.
JJ: So I in that the Gordie, is it Gordie? Gordie Howe Gordie Howe uh Britt, it's like further down, like south. So I I doubt, I mean, I don't know, maybe they they can create a route. But I was like, Do you to your point? I'm like, I was counting every single mile. Uh and Matty, like, he wanted to have a selfie at every single point.
Matty: I don't remember that. There was a lot.
JJ: We have documentation of that.
Matty: That's insane.
JJ: Um and I, it was my first, I'm not a runner. Yeah, that's I was my target was to get it done with, like, get it over with. And I remember my 11, and I remember mile uh mile eight and mile 11 rather because and mile 11. Here he goes, Matty again.
Megan: You want to take a selfie? That's insane that you're trying to take a selfie in the middle of a marathon.
Matty: One person's perspective.
JJ: And at the end, at the end of the marathon, I mean you're exhausted. Yes, you're hurting, and he's like, let's just take a selfie to commemorate this moment. Which I yes, I love it. But I knew that there was like massage tables waiting for us. Oh, yeah. So I'm like, let's just get there. I was not in the best mood, I will tell you that.
Matty: I did try to get selfies, but I also was just trying to talk to you, is my recollection.
Megan: That's inappropriate too during a marathon.
Matty: I mean, you're sharing the experience with somebody and just like checking in, and he basically was like, do not talk to me. Around my own.
Megan: I support that. I was 100%.
Matty: I was cut off at mile nine. I was not allowed to speak to him any longer. Because I was ready.
JJ: Mile nine, running. You got the last few miles to go. Yeah. And I mean, it was an amazing experience, don't get me wrong, without the selfies moment.
Megan: Well, that's out of control.
JJ: So you're done. You're I you're a one and done. I might do it before I turn, you know, another milestone. Sure. Almost a slip it up. Yeah. Yeah. Um God, he loves to slip ups.
Matty: I um uh I was two and done, but I'm thinking about coming out of retirement. Oh. Okay. But here's the thing have you heard of this marathon that happens in Denver? It just happened a couple weeks ago.
Megan: I haven't.
Matty: So it is a marathon that is themed around Taco Bell. Yeah. Oh. Which I'm surprised.
JJ: I don't think it's a full marathon, though. It's a marathon is 26, it's 50 miles total.
Megan: 31.1. Yeah, I think it's 31.1.
JJ: So that's not that's more than a marathon.
Megan: Okay, well, yes.
JJ: So it's not a marathon.
Matty: Well, it's more than a marathon.
Megan: Yeah. Yeah, I think isn't it more like an Iron Man? Iron Man is a marathon. Iron Man is 70, 70.1.
Matty: They call it an ultra marathon.
Megan: Oh, well, yeah, those are an ultra marathon.
Matty: Well, they have to put in some extra mileage and make the route a little bit longer because you have to stop at 10 Taco Bells along. Wow. Love that. So let me give you a little bit of a breakdown. It happened on the October 3rd. In order to like finish and be able to have bragging rights, that you completed it, you have to visit 10 designated Taco Bells along the course. You have to at least eat one menu item at nine of those locations. So only one can you say no thanks. Okay. You have to eat a Chalupa Supreme or a Crunchwrap Supreme by stop four. Oh my god.
You have to eat a burrito supreme or a Nachos BellGrande by stop eight. Wow. You also have to keep all of your receipts and all of your wrappers as proof. Wow. You have to complete the race within 11 hours, and you are not allowed to have any Pepto-Bismol, Mylanta, Pepcid AC. Oh, you're gonna get the runs for sure. Remedies during the race.
Megan: Wow. I wonder if people really get stomach issues.
JJ: Like normal, yes, 100%.
Megan: But when I eat Taco Bell, I have no stomach problems.
JJ: Do you have beans?
Host (unconfirmed): Well, are you running 30 miles on top of it?
Megan: I'm not doing the run, but I'm eating the Taco Bell.
JJ: You're gonna get the runs if you're doing this. You're gonna get a double run.
Matty: You can also add on a challenge called the Diablo challenge, which is where I mean you can get this. You have to put hot sauce on every item you get for the Diablo challenge. And for the Baja Blast challenge, you have to drink two liters of Baja Blast during the rice. Without vomiting.
Megan: The drinking would be hard. The Diablo, now does it have to be hot sauce or Diablo sauce?
Matty: It has to be Diablo because it's called the Diablo challenge.
Megan: Yeah, that's too hot for me. I can't do that.
JJ: Diablo is like above.
Megan: If it was mild, right? I could do it. Because mild, I use several packets per item.
JJ: Well, if we know there's some packets.
Matty: Yeah, but she keeps a little stash here for me. Yes. Well, for her, yeah. But at my place. The interesting thing though is this is great press for Taco Bell because Taco Bell doesn't even sponsor it. It was actually Are they aware of it? Well, I'm sure. I mean, they they're getting all kinds of um free press and attention. It's all for a great cause. Okay. So that's good. It's the Denver chapter of the Achilles International, which helps athletes with disabilities.
Megan: Oh, that's great.
Matty: But here we can wrap this up. But here's what I think is my favorite part of it. I was like, well, I wonder what you get when you finish, and you get pretty much nothing. And you what you get is you actually get a packet of hot sauce tied to a string that the mom makes. Wow, I love it.
JJ: That's amazing. Oh my god. You know, a Nachos BellGrande is Erika Hammond, the newest cast member of The Real Housewives of New York. Yes. That's her favorite order for Taco Bell. She is obsessed with Taco Bell. Matty, I don't know if you've saw the latest episode. She was talking about it. Oh, I have it. And she she had the this massive billion-dollar wedding in Egypt right in front of the Sphinx. Like it's like it's it that never happens. She she created In front of the what? Sphinx. Sphinx. Yeah.
Matty: Sorry, I just didn't. And she in the Wow, you can get you can get married in front of the Sphinx.
JJ: Because she is married to uh billionaire Ankur Jain, which he is a tech entrepreneur and he has actually the CEO of uh Bilt Rewards. I don't know if you've heard of it. I mean it's fine. Uh they actually just met and uh kickbox because she's a kickbox uh I bet she's glad she went to that class that day. I know. I know. But in the middle, she was actually talking that in the middle of our wedding, she was upset because the chefs didn't make the um taco bell, uh the the tacos that she they had it on the menu that didn't taste like taco bell.
Matty: Well, why didn't she just get taco bell? They don't it's she tried to do it.
Megan: She wanted Taco Bell as a late-night snack, and they don't have any Taco Bells in Egypt.
Matty: Do you know what I kind of like about that story is the fact that they he wasn't able to recreate it, which makes it feel like they've got a special recipe that people could try and try as they will. But even the the chef that's hired to do a wedding outside of the Sphinx, nope, can't touch it.
Megan: Well, even uh recently um the Wall Street Journal just published an article. Oh, that's true, yeah. Um, Taco Bells Loved by Michelin starred chefs. And the article was all about these Michelin-starred chefs who are in love with Taco Bell. So and they quoted interesting. Yeah, it's really interesting. The people who create like a $200 tasting menu experience, a la, you know, the bear or the menu, they still crave a Crunchwrap. Um, but what I thought was interesting, this chef, uh, he's a Michelin chef, Harold Moore. He's associated with Cafe Commerce in New York City, which is a top restaurant in New York City.
He said that there's everything in the perfect bite about the crunchy Supreme Taco, that you get it all in one bite. It's perfection. And so he says when he's creating recipes, he tries to balance the flavors and textures, you know, regardless of what it is he's making, like similarly to how the crunchy taco supreme is that you get everything in one bite. Interesting.
JJ: Yeah, so I don't know if a crunchy taco supreme is like my favorite.
Megan: Oh, it's one of my tops. I try to I do it usually with a little Doritos, uh local taco. Oh yeah, but otherwise, if it's not available, I do try to always do one taco supreme.
Matty: Just I think we probably have this conversation, but I've got to throw it out. I'm a chalupa. I'm a chalupa.
Megan: Yeah, the chaloops are not my faves.
JJ: I like a chaloop.
Matty: Well, at mile nine on the marathon, you would go Crunchwrap. I'd go chalupa.
JJ: Yes, 100%. I would. One of the things that I'd like to be a double decker.
Megan: Yeah, and also I will say this. We were talking about uh Erica, who loves she loves the nachos belgrande.
JJ: Nachos BellGrande with jalapeños and a side of Doritos Locos Tacos.
Megan: Oh, I love it.
JJ: Anyway, she made it very specific.
Megan: Tim Hollingsworth, he's a former French laundry chef and is the founder of Otium. He loves a Nachos BellGrande.
Host (unconfirmed): Oh, he does too.
Megan: According to Wall Street Journal. Yeah.
Host (unconfirmed): Oh, Wall Street Journal, uh pretty reputable.
Megan: Well, this was their article. So, I mean, you know, when I see Taco Bell in the header, I stop and read.
JJ: Matty, you know that we're gonna get the headline on the pot topics chat immediately if there's Taco Bell.
Matty: This is why I couldn't understand why she had no clue about this marathon.
Megan: I'm shocked. Well, I I mean everything about it sounds amazing, but can I take a scooter? I don't want to do the running.
Matty: I mean that's a good point.
Megan: Nine taco bells, I'm in.
Matty: You should check out some of the content on TikTok about it because there's people that are like very strong athletes, but by mile whatever, you thought you were at it tough at mile nine, try mile 13 and you've had you know a value meal.
JJ: Imagine no, and on top of that, no, imagine if I have to try to find the bathroom in the middle of it.
Matty: Oh wow. Wow, that's crazy. I've been with you before you go about anywhere.
Megan: Yes. Oh my gosh, that's crazy. Okay. I think I'm going to switch it up. I need to know from the slippers. Are advent calendars a vibe or boomer? I mean, every brand seems to have one these days. And I must confess, I've already bought two, one for me and one for my dog. But I just, I don't know. Tell me, vibe or boomer?
Matty: I'm personally, do you want our opinions here? Yeah, absolutely.
Megan: I'm obsessed with them. Like I had the doctor buy me one from See's Candies that I'm really excited about. But then I just saw that Meghan Markle came out with an as ever one that partnered with the Los Angeles chocolate brand compartes, that I'm like, oh, that would have been good too. I've also seen you have Sephora, Burt's Bees, Lego, Keurig, uh, Bonne Maman. I mean, everyone has both that's the little uh French jams, and they have little French jams, which I've that and literally these advent calendars sell out every year.
JJ: So let me just try to get it like so. When you get, because I've never gotten an advent calendar, I've seen them. I'm not a fan. I'm never gonna probably get it. Wow. Um, so do you have to get them? Like, is it cut go from December 1st? Yes. Till December 31st?
Megan: No, to Christmas morning.
JJ: Oh, to Christmas morning. Yes. Okay. And there's a little So it's not a full calendar.
Matty: It's a correct hidden compartment, right? Yes.
Megan: So you don't know what you're getting.
Matty: Every day you open up a surprise.
Megan: Yes. Surprise! Every day it's a special little surprise.
Matty: I've never had an advent calendar either. Are you a fan? No. I I mean not I I don't want to go against the Advent community. It's not that I'm not a fan, it's just that I've never embraced them. And I guess if someone gifted me one, depending on the product, I might get excited about it. But I also feel like they a lot of times take up a lot of space. And I don't know, do you what do you did?
Megan: No, no, no, no. These are now so you're thinking when we were when you were little kids. Don't they? Don't they? When you were little kids, that was the tradition. You would hang it on the wall, see, and you would open the little doors for the pocket. No, I had them when I was little and I loved them. And now, fast forward many years, I still love them. And like I'm obsessed with all these brands that have the different ones because lots of times they have special limited edition items or flavors that you can't otherwise get. So it would be fun to be able to try them. So you were going to answer my question. Now they're in boxes.
Matty: So it's like a big thing flat, or do they let stand up?
Megan: You can stand up or you can lay them flat. You can fold, they usually fold out. So you have two sides. So you could fold them up and put them away if you wanted, but really you could put them on a table or whatever.
JJ: Um I remember Costco used, I mean, I don't know if they still have it, but they Costco used to have this wine advent calendar. Yeah, I'm sure.
Matty: And it will sold out like well, then how do you how do you get 24 bottles of wine? It's like mini ones.
JJ: They're all little.
Megan: Yes. Well, and that's what a lot of these are are little samples. So you get different samples that you try every day. They have beer ones, they have wine, they have liquor, there's a manicurist one. Uh Sugarfina just came out with one that's a collab with peanuts. So everything is like Snoopy or Peanuts.
JJ: We might have to try that one. We might have to try to bring the nuts in.
Megan: It's not no peanuts is in Snoopy. Not like Peanuts as in eating nuts.
Matty: Well, I like I like Snoopy too. Yes. Uh well, I um never mind. What? You had a thought? I did, and it escaped me. Okay.
Megan: Well, I think the idea of every day you get to wake up and have this little special treat is amazing.
Matty: Oh, it came back to me. Oh, are there some advent calendars that as you get closer to Christmas, the stakes get higher, or is it equivalent? Like all the time.
JJ: Oh, that's a good question.
Matty: I want to know, like, some do. Do you okay? Because I would maybe get into that. Like, I start out with something that's like really like okay, whatever. But like by day 22 or something, I'm like getting something like, oh, this is I wonder if your GQ magazine has like an advent calendar. Oh, I'm sure.
JJ: Yeah, maybe you imagine like every day you get a different item that it goes like higher. I mean, to you know, our conversation right now we have advent calendars that start at $20, $25, and now you can get them into hundreds of dollars.
Megan: Yeah, there's some jewelry ones that are like $350 that I was looking at. I'm like, oh my god, I kind of would like that. Um, there's we have a bark box one for fits, and it has uh like one big toy. Like it there's little toys and there's little treats, different treats, different. Small toys, and then there's usually like one big toy. Yeah. Oh, he loves it. He's ready every day. I could see him. Well, he sees that box and he wants to be a good thing.
Matty: I'm sure dogs everywhere are fans of advent calendars for themselves.
Megan: So and Trader Joe's every year has a dog advent calendar and a cat.
JJ: That's it.
Megan: Just dog and cat for now. But I keep thinking they might have the best of Trader Joe's advent calendar. And boy, that will sell out quick.
JJ: yeah. I have something that is new here that I wanted to show you guys. Um I've been using it just this past week. It's the Trader Joe's new Milky Hydrating Bi-Phase Face Mist.
Host (unconfirmed): Ooh, I think it's a good one.
JJ: And if the reason why I wanted to show it this way is because the bi-phase, if you can see, it's there's two different um lotions of the two different um ingredients. And that's really the bi-phase formula. That's a chance. And then when you shake it, then it's a little milky.
Matty: Oh, and then you can see that when it was sitting there, it was just half full.
JJ: And then you can get... Matty, you can be our model. Okay. Uh, because I have my glasses on. Um, then you can get the little milky. I mean, who doesn't want a little milky face?
Megan: Oh, nice. Now, is when do you use this? Is it just a refresher or is it like I use it as a refresher?
JJ: Look at that.
Megan: It is refreshing.
JJ: Yeah, I use it as a refresher, and it's only $6.99.
Megan: I love it.
Matty: I'm too hydraulic, hydraulic.
JJ: Oh, yeah.
Matty: That's tough for me. Acid. But that's why I didn't read it. Hyrolonic. Yeah.
JJ: Thank you. The beauty queen right here. Acid. Yeah, it's pretty good. Yeah, I like that. $6.99.
Matty: That's great. Yeah, I'm coming around to the Trader Joe. Like, I feel like they're getting more. They are becoming a beauty brand. Megan, when you turned us on to the vitamin C.
JJ: I still use it.
Matty: I do too. I've repurchased.
Megan: Well, that's a I have repurchased. That's a dupe. An exact almost duplicate. I don't like the smell of it. But I do. So the SkinCeuticals, $185.
Matty: I like too, JJ. That's nice. I like it. It's yeah.
Megan: That's great, especially on a hotter day, a little like refresh. I love it.
JJ: I actually found it on the new items in Trader Joe's. I always pass by that. Oh, yeah.
Megan: Oh, oh, okay. Good. Well, I think it's a good one. Yeah, I've been looking for their new, I like to read their little uh catalogs of what's new.
JJ: Oh, you do. I never do.
Matty: Those are my favorite things. I wish you'd redesign them. They're just when they come out, I feel like they look too text heavy and they scare me. Oh god, I love it.
Megan: I read it front to back.
Host (unconfirmed): Front to back.
Matty: Well, she you know how long it takes her. 30 seconds. I am a speed reader.
Megan: But I love it because and then what that's cute, they've now added like a little, you can do like a little checkbox of what you want to look for and buy.
JJ: Oh, really?
Megan: Oh and I know in the store you'll see it'll say Fearless Flyer. It I mean, I for Megan.
Matty: That seems boomer.
Megan: Well, I I buy a lot of what's in there. I'd like to try the new products, but also in the stores, you can look, they have a little Fearless Flyer tags on items. So look for that. And that means they're like we're talking about featured in the flyer. Mm-hmm.
Matty: Yeah. Another thing is cutting out the side. No, I don't cut it out. Okay.
Megan: But I sometimes will check or look and that, or sometimes I tell the doctor, tell me what you want, because he likes to read it too.
JJ: Another new thing, I don't know, I know that we're not talking about just Trader Joe's today, but uh another new thing that I liked, and I found it on my local Trader Joe's, is that when there is the in the new items section, there is another section that they just put little flyers and things, and they just put where to find it, which aisle.
Megan: Oh, that's helpful. Yeah, that is very helpful to me.
Matty: Oh, that is helpful.
JJ: Because sometimes I'll see it and I'm like, oh, wait, like where can I find this specifically in the Trader Joe's?
Matty: Yeah, aisle to I'm gonna say this and it's probably gonna be like, oh Jesus, Matty, but I still have yet to find the new product section for frozen goods. I found the like non-fridge freezer aisle end cap. Yes. But is there one for the freezers?
JJ: They have they to that point, they just have a little sticker with the where the image is and you see them on the page.
Matty: But they're not grouped together. No, they're not. Well, I've been everything. And they'll do Fearless Flyer. That's also where you want to look for Fearless Flyer. But for the non-frozen goods, there is they pull them all together at the end of that one aisle in our particular one that we go to in Berkeley.
JJ: They used to, not in your no, I just was there.
Matty: I just saw it, yeah.
JJ: Okay. I haven't seen those.
Matty: Well, I don't know. You should check it out. Check it out.
JJ: I'll I'll bring a report back because I don't think that this is happening.
Matty: It is totally happening. You know where the pizzas are. Yes. It's right there at the same end.
JJ: No, that's not it.
Matty: 100%. Okay. 100%. Yeah, 100%.
JJ: I'll I'll report back.
Matty: Okay, please do. Yeah, please. Please do. Let's settle it. Waiting. Okay. What else we got today? We I think we're going to slip it in and pull it out.
JJ: Oh, you got something that you need wanted to talk about. It's been wanted to talk about. I thought that you were like pins and needs.
Matty: What is that topic?
JJ: Brandi Glanville.
Matty: Oh, well, I don't know.
JJ: We've been waiting for you to say.
Matty: That's not true. Yes, me and no. You were going to talk about Brandi. When we got into like a little housewife's conversation, we were going to dovetail into Brandi, I thought. And I thought maybe since you passed it up, we weren't going to go there, but we can go there. Something's eating her face. So she says, Yes.
Megan: For everyone who doesn't know, Brandi Glanville is a former real housewife of Beverly Hills. Yeah. She was a little bit of a firecracker, controversial cracked character on the show. Um, she called out people for allegedly doing cocaine in the bathroom, but I don't think they were. She just would say crazy things like that on the show. So a lot of times her castmates, I think, weren't the biggest fans of the hide somebody's artificial leg? No.
Matty: That's New York.
Megan: That was a New York and it was with Beverly.
Matty: Brandi at one point, didn't she take somebody's prosthetic leg and hide it behind the couch? No. Well, this is why I wasn't gonna bring Brandi.
Megan: I will say another interesting fact about her is she was married to the actor Eddie Cibrian. And he went and did a Hallmark movie, or maybe Lifetime. I don't want to, it may be Hallmark or Lifetime, with um Leanne Rhimes. And they fell in love, and he came home from the movie and divorced Brandi and then got married to LeAnn.
JJ: Yeah. So she had a bacteria or some sort of some sort in her skin, like it's under her skin. She says, right now she says it's a worm. But it it's kind of a piece of like I mean, she moves it on the video, and she now has even uh GoFundMe, which has me now. I do have a question for you guys now that we're talking about Brandi.
Matty: It's all coming back to you now.
JJ: No, it was not my topic now. It's on the agenda, right? Don't bring it to me. Um so my question is so she's got this GoFundMe, Kyle Richards for her treatment. Like right now, she's not working, she only has a podcast, she's got this IV treatments that are $3,000 a day, and then so she's gonna go fund me to fund those you know treatments that she in order to get healed, because she really is he has disfigured her face. Like it's just it's just really bad.
Matty: If she has something in there eating her face, and to your point, Megan, she said she thinks it's a worm. Like, why is the GoFundMe, why is it not to raise money to get that fixed versus IV treatments?
JJ: No, that's IV treatments will help dissolve what she's got in it. Okay. So it's part of the treatment. But the IV.
Megan: Yeah, she's now getting facial surgery for this worm parasite. I don't know, whatever it is. That's really something well, and she's saying that she did a real housewives ultimate girls trip, and that's where she got this worm.
JJ: That's what she's claiming, but she's she's in the middle of like many things with the housewife.
Matty: Maybe something was uh introduced in terms of an infection that grew into something during one of her surgeries because she's had a lot of plastic surgery, right? So I thought all of this that was happening was all intertwined.
Megan: And then she also was on special forces and just recently. Yes. And she also like Denise Richards popped a breast implant.
JJ: Well, she this she dislike it was dislocated. Oh, it didn't get popped.
Megan: Oh, okay.
Matty: From the helicopter jump.
JJ: Yeah, from the helicopter jump.
Megan: Well, maybe she's she broke a rib and she was like, I mean, that show these housewives might be going on the show trying to get some free surgery. You know, those are the things.
JJ: Well, she wanted the money. Like there is an there is a stipend that comes along with that, and she's needing the money. I'm sure that she's like, you know what? If the opportunity arises, like I would well, then you can also stay relevant and stay.
Matty: Yeah, absolutely. But I do think special forces should consider when they're doing their checks, like potentially not allowing candidates with implants to be on the show because more than one have like you are doing, and I'm not saying that in a disparaging way, but you are doing a lot of activities that are intense and that throw your body around or your body has impacts on things, and that can be very dangerous if you have you know artificial. Well, I am curious.
JJ: I didn't even ask the question. I was gonna ask the question. I was asking a question.
Matty: Oh, well, I mean that it's of more detail.
JJ: Yes. So back to my question GoFundMe, Brandi. Yeah, Kyle Richards donated publicly $500 to her GoFundMe.
Megan: That's great.
JJ: So my question, I I was feeling some type of way because Kyle Richards can afford more than $500. Yep. So it seems like dimes and nicks.
Megan: I know, but Kyle Richards has never been a fan of Brandi. I don't think they were really ever that close on the show. I think her giving anything is very nice.
JJ: Stay anonymous then. Well, like, why do you want the spotlight on just $500?
Megan: I'll say this. Don't come for me, Kyle. I'm a good fan of yours.
JJ: I kind of have a Kyle hat on today.
Megan: Yeah, well, what do you do? It's kamosaki. And I don't think that it's kamulsomi because it's a good thing.
JJ: It's kimosabi. We went from jamasuki to kamasabe to kimosabe.
Megan: We're a little ADHD, but I want to say this about Kyle.
JJ: Oh Lord.
Megan: I don't come for me. I'm a Kyle fan. She's one of my favorite real housewives, but I sometimes wonder if she's that technologically...
JJ: savvy. Oh, that didn't even think about that. So you think that she was going for a 5,000?
Megan: Or she doesn't know that you can choose anonymous. Or she had someone doing it. Exactly. Or her assistant did it and she didn't.
JJ: She probably said, just donate something.
Matty: I'm gonna say that I feel like every move that the housewives make is calculated and intentional. Miles power. And so I think this is it's an interesting conversation to have because if you remove the fame and all of that stuff, it's a question about like if you're gonna support somebody, is any support good support? Or is it gonna always be tied back to um expectations because you perceive this person to be able to donate more or contribute more? I mean, Kyle, let's face it, could probably pay for her surgery, right? Like 100%. But it's not her obligation to do that.
And to Megan's point, if they're especially if they're not close, yeah, but then someone looks at a $500 donation and is like, wow, really? That's all you're gonna do? So like I don't know where I stand on it. Like she gave her something, it gets her closer to her goal, yeah, and she's not obligated to do it, but like you do look at that in context. That would be like Megan if I gave you five dollars, right? You'd be like, Well, Matt, I don't know that I mean you're giving me five dollars for my reconstructive surgery. And I do have to while I'm contributing, and I do have to clarify.
Megan: If it's just for me to have my face lift, would you take my five dollars?
Matty: I would.
Megan: And I would say thank you, and I actually would be happy with that. Well, I'll publicly donate it.
Matty: I won't turn the union. I didn't know I needed to go for it.
JJ: And I do need to add that Brandi has not said anything bad about this $500 donation. She was very grateful about the $500 beach.
Matty: Well, that's good.
JJ: It's just an opinion of one here. When I saw it, and I'm like, oh, wait, is this something that should be or not?
Matty: Well, it yeah, it does beg to be discussed. Yeah, I feel very much so.
Megan: Well, and I think we did we hammered it out.
Intro voice: We did.
JJ: Now we're ready to do some slips and some pulls, and jump in on it.
Matty: Yeah. Okay, well, I was doing some cleaning today and I was listening to a podcast or two, and I might have said this before, and I'll say it again. I feel like podcasts are so educational and it's entertaining but educational as well. Especially if the guests that you are listening to being interviewed, uh you are listening to their life story, and they may not be educators, but to just listen to other people's stories when it's a whole different uh lived experience than you have lived, you just absorb information and it's uh it's really enlightening to me.
So I'm gonna uh just say that I listened to um Marcello Hernández on Good Hang and I learned some things about him and his immigrant experience. Um but um I'm also gonna say that I listened to um Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper. And she had on Alanis Morissette. And Alanis Morissette, if you don't know, if the slippers don't know, like for me is like my ultimate. I just feel like she is the ultimate uh songwriter. And she said, I no longer participate in QA, which is questions and answers. She says, I only participate in Q and Q.
Megan: Oh, I love that.
Matty: She's like, because he it's all about learning about other people. So if people are asking me questions, yeah, I want to engage with them and ask them questions. So she's like, I'm just so inquisitive with people and like community and people, like this is where you can find solace and community and connection. She goes, So I just do Q and Q moving forward. I like that. Isn't that awesome?
JJ: I think I'm gonna try to practice it.
Matty: Yeah, I mean it just it just is basically like showing an interest in the person that's asking you a question. Pretty pretty amazing. So the other thing I just uh or the other or my pull it out rather, sorry, is um I do love a change of seasons, but with a change of seasons for me comes the Raynaud's syndrome. Actually, it's called Raynaud's phenomenon. I have Raynaud's and um for those of you that don't know what Raynaud's is, it is a condition in which small blood vessels in your fingers and toes, and it can happen actually in your nose or your ears. I have it in my fingers and my toes.
They temporarily constrict and they reduce the blood flow to those areas, and so then my fingers ultimately will turn, like the tips will turn white. Yeah, it it um and they don't know what causes it. Um it can for it can some things can trigger it for different people, like stress can trigger it, but also changes in temperature. And for me, my experience has always been those days where um like we're having now, where like maybe in the morning when I leave for work or whatever, it's crisp and cool, and then it gradually gets warmer through the day, or vice versa at night when it starts to change. And the change in temperatures, like I just it'll it'll trigger it.
JJ: Now let me ask you this. Um do you have any sense? I guess do you feel it that it's very getting cold, or like you get it numb? Is it numbness on your tips?
Matty: I can I can I can feel it coming on, and then it will progressively get a little bit more intense, and I can feel it, and then I'll know like, oh, this is happening. And within like 10 minutes or so, it'll start to turn white. And sometimes it'll be like all four fingers, sometimes it'll be one finger, yeah, and sometimes it'll be on both hands, and sometimes it's one hand, and then I mean I'd rather be one finger than four, but um I'm I'm asking this because this past week I had a moment that I'm like, Do you have what Matty is having?
Well, I'm you know, it it was getting it was get it's getting cold here in Michigan, but then my finger never turned white, so I was like, okay, that this is well, I'll tell you, I've had it most of my adult life, but there are if you read up on it, um, people can develop it later in life. In fact, a lot of people do start to experience it later in life. So just keep an eye on that thing. That finger might just see if it starts to turn white. But so anyway, that's yeah, that's my pull it out.
JJ: Awesome. My slip it in uh happened um this past week when while I was like walking out of the gym, I noticed that there was like this individual following following me pretty close to me, like he was close to me, and I'm like, I was like having my earbuds on in, and I was just focused on getting in my car, and all of a sudden, this man tapped into my shoulder and said, Hey, I'm not sure if somebody has said this to you before, but you are a very handsome man. Oh, and just walked away.
And I mean, I'm I was not attracted to this individual, but it just made my day that uh this I mean that we live in a world that is freely like we feel freely enough to just say, Hey Matty, you look handsome today. And that amongst men, regardless of his sexual preference, maybe he was gay, maybe he was not. He I couldn't tell. Um, but it it really made my day. So that's I love that. Definitely a slippery.
Matty: Was that a leg day you were doing?
Megan: Now, if you were attracted to him, would you have tried to like I would have probably interacted more and would you have done a QQ with him?
JJ: A Q and Q. I would have just done a Q and Q with it. I would have just done a QQ and probably even get the number.
Matty: Yeah, what are you doing after this? Want to do a coffee Q?
JJ: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. 100%. And I will start with like, what are your three top three knots?
Matty: Oh boy.
JJ: Oh God, I can't. Well, it's on our brand. It is, for sure. My pull it out, and I'm sure Megan is gonna have an opinion about this. It's still on the gym um uh atmosphere, is that I'm really don't like when women wear makeup to the to the gym. How do you feel about this? Like heavy makeup. I'm not saying about a little a little lip gloss here, a little blush, but I've seen like lately more and more, and I don't know, maybe they're trying to find their partner too, so they're ready for putting because I think that gyms are uh a place that you can actually meet somebody.
Yeah, but it's it's heavy and heavy, it's it's like full on beat.
Megan: Well, I feel like lots of times if you're trying to put a workout in within your day, so if you've already had makeup on, then you're just going to the gym as you are. Uh other things that kind of come to mind is some girls are doing content at the gym. So in that case, I can see why they want their makeup on it.
Matty: Yeah. So I also have a comment. Yeah.
Megan: Oh, go ahead.
Matty: I'm wondering, JJ, like makeup is not a traditionally a thing a man does, but if it was, to the same extent, when you go to the gym, don't you make choices so that you look in a way that is presentable at the gym and like makes you feel confident and like you're putting your best foot forward, so that men maybe will say, Wow, you look handsome. So I can't imagine women who probably don't leave the house without makeup on ever would choose to make that choice when they're going to the gym.
JJ: Yeah, that's a good point. Yeah. Yeah. 100%. I just I'm like in my mind, I'm like thinking it's like you're coming in and you're sweating. Like I feel bad for like like what's gonna happen. It's your I mean, I and I know that it's their problem, it's not mine, but it's just like it makes me somewhat like uncomfortable for them.
Megan: Well, if it's seven in the morning, I find it questionable. If it's the afternoon, five o'clock.
JJ: Yeah, you got a good point.
Megan: It seems normal.
Matty: Yeah, I mean, if you're in the locker room putting it on before you go out to get on the list, yeah, I vote no.
JJ: You know what? With this discussion, it's not a pull it out anymore. It's a leave it in.
Matty: Oh, leave it in. Oh changing hearts and minds, we are love it. Look at us.
Megan: Look at us. Well, I have a slip it in, and it's kind of a slip it in and a it out. The slip it in is Denny's, which is we talked about Taco Bell earlier. Now Denny's is another all-time fave of mine. Denny's just came out with these new limited edition sticky kicks, and what they are is a um uh high top tennis shoe that's like yellow and brown, and it's got these little pockets that look like it's syrup inside them, and then they have blue laces for like a blueberry pancake. And they came out with a similar pair last year that sold out within minutes. So this year I saw they were going on sale the next day.
I'm like, oh I don't really want them, but maybe I would get them. They're kind of cool. I like the name and they're kind of I love Denny's. Like, maybe I'd get them. I don't know. And then I went to sign up because you had to sign up in order to get them. And there was a whole big rigmarole with the sign up. So I didn't sign up. Now my pull it out is this I should have signed up and got them. They did sell out within hours. The next morning I look and they were on sale on StockX for $699.
Matty: That makes sense.
Megan: They only retailed like around 100, 150.
Matty: Because I mean, I feel like we're seeing this more and more with like food brands putting something out and selling out of it really quickly, and then they become the sought-after collectible. If you would have pursued it and got the shoes, would you have ever worn them or would you just sell you would have done the same thing?
Megan: I was only gonna buy to sell. Oh so, but then it was too much process. One, the process to even be able to purchase, like you had to sign up, and then it was like a draw, like you weren't a guaranteed I can sign on to purchase. Then you had to sign on and purchase. And I knew they were gonna sell out quickly. So I'm like, this is a lot of steps for something that I'm not that into. That makes sense.
Matty: So and yeah, I feel like your last meal, if you were asked to have a last meal, it might be a Moons Over My Hammy.
Megan: It could be Moons Over My Hammy. I don't know, or talk about like I don't know. Like crunch ups are not my like my number ones, but I don't know. It would be top five for sure. I'd have to really think about it. I love a Moons Over My Hammy.
Matty: God, we haven't been to a Denny's in forever. We should go.
Megan: It we need to do a little um outing and go to a Denny's. We should yes. All right, with that, slippers, it's the end of another episode. So in the meantime, check us out.
