Questions or Comments: Slip It In Here!
We've been trying to get Peter on the podcast for months, and now that he's finally here, there's plenty to discuss. Peter, one half of Murray & Peter Present, joins Matty, Megan and JJ for a conversation about drag, theater, decades of friendship and some memorable nights out.
First, Peter takes on our This or That speed round before sharing the story behind two touring productions: Golden Girls: The Laughs Continue and A Drag Queen Christmas. From the Golden Girls navigating modern life, including Blanche and Rose launching a sex app for seniors, to the logistics of touring with RuPaul's Drag Race royalty, Peter gives us a look behind the curtain. We talk Nina West, Crystal Methyd, the 39-city Christmas tour and how a production that started with early performances in Detroit grew into a touring success.
Then come the stories only longtime friends can tell. JJ sleeping on a church lawn, the summer of Lime-A-Ritas, a memorable Fritos incident, someone being left in a sweltering car and a sake-fueled happy hour that ended with Peter climbing through his kitchen window and landing in a crockpot. We also learn the meaning of Shadoobs, a word that has become part of this group's vocabulary.
The conversation continues with Finland's reputation for happiness, Waymo's arrival in Detroit and an espresso martini experiment involving soy sauce.
Slip It Ins and Pull It Outs bring Lorne Michaels, the loss of a favorite Ferndale happy hour, cowboy hats, chicken feet as dog treats, God of War Ragnarök, face masks, a little girls-and-gays gossip and a frustrating encounter with a highway merging lane.

Peter: Muscles. Yes.
Matty: Funny old ladies or sassy drag queens?
Peter: Sassy drag queens who are funny old ladies. Oh, you gotta watch it there.
JJ: That's this might unfold later.
Matty: Leather bar or piano bar?
JJ: Oh, leather bar.
Matty: Really? Really? Lawn chairs or bar stools?
Peter: Bar stools for sure.
Matty: We might want to circle back. Madonna or share?
Peter: Cher.
Matty: Oh. Socks on or socks off at bed.
Peter: Socks off.

Matty: And this is the last one. High noons or white claws. High noons. Nice job. Wow, not a pass to be had. He had them all. Come on. That was easy. Well, answered those for spit or swallow. Oh. What was that? Spit or swallow. Well, he said they were easy. So I thought maybe I'd come in with a breath, a breath of fresh air.
Peter: Depends what I ate earlier.
Megan: But honestly, Peter, you have been good answer.
Matty: Good answer.
Megan: Peter, you have been known to sit in the lawn chair in your driveway.
Matty: Oh, yeah, I love that.
Megan: Well, you pick bars. Any driveway.
Matty: Any driveway. Absolutely. Any driveway.
Peter: Any lawn chair, but I do prefer a bars.
Unconfirmed speaker: Okay. All right.
Matty: All right.
Megan: I'm still as you can tell, Peter is lots of fun. And he has a serious side. And he is half of the amazing duo Murray and Peter Present. They are the producers and creators of amazing shows, two of which are currently touring the country. And we are avid lovers of Murray and Peter Present shows. One of our favorites is currently touring, so you should check it out. It's called Golden Girls The Laughs Continue.
Peter: Laugh, Laugh, Laugh.
Megan: Yes, absolutely. Golden Girls.
Matty: So tell us in a golden girls tour.com. Yeah. See my paddle? Sorry, Megan. I'm just doing a little paddle.
Megan: Okay, well, the audio people can see that. What is the Golden Girls The Laughs Continue, Peter?
Peter: Uh, it is a how do I explain this exactly? Uh, it is a theatrical production we uh wrote together with uh some friend of ours years ago. This script was created, um, it started in COVID and kind of came out from that, and then we started here in Detroit. And now we're 500 performances plus.
Megan: That's amazing. I remember coming when you were doing uh first trial shows.
JJ: I mean, I was just gonna say that. Yeah, like where was million friends? Yeah, down by the airport.
Megan: Yes, we did it at the Wayne County Community College. High school? Wayne County Community College.
Matty: And now you're like at the Fisher or the Fox.
Peter: No, we played the Fisher. The Fisher. We actually did look at the Fox. Okay.
Megan: And the U2 are typically at like Broadway show houses around the country.
Peter: Yes, we do as many Broadway venues as possible.
Matty: How many um countries?
Peter: We've only done Canada.
Matty: Two. Well, I remember talking to you, you're like, we might be doing Europe, but okay, how many states?
Peter: How many states?
Matty: In our country, like roughly, just 30.
Peter: No more. 40. Yeah.
Matty: Wow. So I mean to start out in a high school.
Megan: I think that I've introduced you. Yeah, like beginning, like they were like it was like trying to fine-tune the show.
Matty: That's my point. It's like the you begin in one like yes, mate. Okay.
JJ: I think I've introduced some of my very close friends through the beauty of drag through the shows from Peter. Yeah. Okay. So we get to see those.
Megan: Yeah. So um I wanted to say one last thing about Golden Girls for anyone. Like it is super.
Peter: I wanted to say more. Okay, keep going. Please. You want you asked me about how many states you did. We did at least 40 states. I know we've done that. But we are one of the shows that has gone from uh Newfoundland all the way to Victoria Island. Sorry, can't you tell me? You're good. We've done every Providence in uh Canada.
Megan: Oh, that's amazing.
Peter: Wow, really. And we've done over 50 cities in Canada, which is pretty crazy.
Matty: That is crazy. I didn't realize you were all over the Canada.
Peter: They love us up there. Absolutely. I mean, every podunk town I've ever you've ever heard of that has a theater, we've been there. Yeah.
Megan: Yeah. Well, it is for anyone, you don't have to love the golden girls. It is just so funny. And you guys have like modernized it. Yeah.
Matty: I think you kind of do want to love the golden girls. You should love the golden girls. You should.
Megan: Well, it's hard not to love. I mean, really.
Matty: It's just such a but it's brilliant.
JJ: The show is just like it's so well driven and like, yeah.
Matty: We okay, we're gonna give you space. Yes.
Peter: Go talk. Well, it's the golden girls living in today's age, yeah. They're dealing with um social media, everything like that. Can you match? Also, yeah, you know, Blanche and Rose own a sex app. They own it? Yeah, they create a sex app. Yeah.
Unconfirmed speaker: Hello.
Matty: Oh, well, I'm I thought you saw the show. I did, I did, but I am playing the role.
Peter: Oh my god. So uh can you imagine?
Matty: We're bringing other listeners up to speed with us.
Peter: Okay, gotcha. Yeah, Sophia is now um being prosecuted for selling drugs at Shady Pines. Um so and then Dorothy uh falls in love with a guy she meets on the app called CreakN. So funny. It's so funny.
Megan: Freaking.
Matty: And the set the set is like to a T. Yeah, I feel like they production. It look the the kitchen, kitchen, yes, the wicker.
Peter: The furniture is actually a remake of the actual show couch and yes, we know stay off the couch.
Matty: Yes, careful if you are close enough to Peter and get invited up on stage for the after show. Just respect this stage.
JJ: I mean, in one of the last shows that we were able to go, some of the original gowns, yes, of the golden girls were displayed. That was a mean thing. Um, and even like the the singer from the the the theme song was also there.
Matty: So it's you remember when I came up to Peter after the show, and I'm like, oh my god, I just went and tried one of Dorothy's gowns on.
Unconfirmed speaker: And you were like, you're like, what? And I'm like, wow, she's six foot tall, just like me. It fit perfectly, didn't it?
Matty: I love those shows.
Megan: They are so good. But you also have Drag Queen Christmas, which is about to premiere for the 2026 season. Yes. Now tell us a little bit about Drag Queen Christmas.
Peter: A Drag Queen Christmas is in its 12th year. That's insane. 12 years. We have the longest running RuPaul slash drag race tour that has gone out. That's wow. Love that. Um the contestants from RuPaul's drag race are our main drag queens, obviously. Um so yeah, 12 years in the making. It's been a good thing.
Matty: What would you say are some of like the top three queens names? Well, maybe I shouldn't put you in that position. What would be some of the drag queens names that um people would be like, oh my god, really? She's a part of it.
Peter: We are very lucky this year to have the top five of this past season, which is pretty crazy. Of RuPaul's drag race. Of season 19. Oh, is that a lie? Yeah, one, two, three, season 19. Oh, that's five. We don't always find the spot. So yeah. You do, you. And then Nina West is our host again. Oh, she's so good. She's great. And then uh my fave, you know, always is Crystal Methyd. She's been on the show five times in a row, and she is uh also
Peter: the winner of this recent All-Star series.
Unconfirmed speaker: That's good.
Peter: Oh, spoiler alert. Spoiler alert. No, she already won. Oh, she's already won.
JJ: So if you're like us that we have not caught up to you all. Oh, surprise.
Unconfirmed speaker: Great.
Matty: I you know what we're talking about. All right, this is good. If I were to open up my photos and do a scroll back, I probably have about five or six photos of myself with some of the drag queens in the previous shows. Oh, yeah. And I think my favorite was oh, what's the one that went on?
Peter: My favorite, I can't remember.
Matty: The one who went to prison? Was in prison and then came out and like red did his life. Latrice. Latrice Royale. Latrice was such a She's a fan fave for sure.
JJ: She is a huge fan fave still.
Matty: She was so sweet, and uh I love that.
JJ: Something you mentioned, uh Peter, that this cast will do this year is that it will be the same cast throughout the whole tour, right?
Peter: We were fortunate enough to get the same cast for the all 39 cities, which is very difficult for their schedules in the past. But these ones we booked them last year. That's crazy.
Matty: So are you all on a tour bus?
Peter: They are on a tour bus. I am not on the tour bus. Yeah, there you go.
Megan: He's flying first class. Oh yeah. That's that's Delta One.
Peter: I don't admit that. Uh no. There's no room on the bus for any for Murray and I either. So um have too many workers.
Matty: Um a reality show or something, like what stays what happens on the bus stays on the bus or something like that.
Peter: Yes, we have discussed that, and it's something in the work.
Matty: Oh, look at me!
JJ: at me. This is all fascinating, but as we always do with every of our every one of our guests, Peter, what are your top three nuts? Okay.
Matty: That was a hard laughter.
Peter: That was a really hard laughter. Okay, walnuts, Brazil nuts, and um uh hazelnuts.
JJ: Oh, hazelnuts on my top.
Matty: I can't eat. Those are the like the three lowest nuts, typically. Oh, are they low hangers?
Megan: Yeah, Anderson Cooper's very negative about uh walnuts.
Matty: Yeah you wouldn't put like an almond or a cashew or a pistachio anywhere near the like.
Peter: No, they're not as healthy as the other three. Oh, so that's what you base it on? Yeah, Brazil nuts are high and for great for testosterone. Look at those muscles. Yeah.
Matty: Oh Megan.
Peter: Thank you for noticing.
Matty: Those are those arms are based on Brazil nuts.
Peter: I didn't say they were Brazil nuts, they might be Brazilian men nuts.
Unconfirmed speaker: Oh, yeah. I like that. Taking a note.
Megan: Let's take a look at love that. Well, speaking of nuts, you know whose nuts have been in the news.
JJ: I know. I know whose nuts have been in the news.
Megan: Well, Ben Affleck. And it's interesting because when I first met Peter and we've known each other, I'm the first one of the of the three of us that to meet Peter, and he was like, pure joy. I felt like I had this new special friend that no one else knew.
Unconfirmed speaker: Little did you know. Well, yeah, little did you know.
Megan: Soon enough, he was everywhere. But um I used to call him Ben because he looked a lot like Ben Affleck.
Peter: Really? And 20 years ago, yeah.
Megan: And so whenever I hear about Ben, I always think of Peter. And so Ben's nuts andor penis, yeah, has been in the news because he's been doing interviews for his new Netflix show that just premiered called Animals that he directed.
Matty: Apple TV is a movie. No, Netflix.
Megan: Yeah. And he said in Gone Girl, people said he was using a prosthetic for the shower scene. Yeah. And he has come out and said no. In fact, that is his real shaft and balls, alive.
JJ: It's very little. It's just like you could see just a little bit. It's not frontal.
Megan: No, but it wasn't little either.
JJ: I'm not talking about the size of his penis.
Matty: You're talking about the length of the clip.
JJ: I the timeline and also how much of the whole shaft involves it.
Megan: It's a side view. It's a side view.
Matty: I didn't see any Brazilience in it.
Unconfirmed speaker: I just saw now you see a little tip of the top. Yeah, how do you see the tip of the tip? Yeah. Well, of the bulbs? Yeah, there was a little sack. Just a baby. I'm gonna have to.
Peter: A baby, baby sack?
Unconfirmed speaker: I'm gonna have to.
Peter: Let's not bring baby and penis in the same. Oh no.
Matty: Yeah. Ooh. Censorship. Okay, so how do you feel about that, Peter? Where do you where does this rank in your sure?
Peter: I don't have a story like Ben A.
Matty: I do remember Megan always would call you Ben.
JJ: I was surprised. I I knew this this week when you're talking about. Oh, well, he used to be in my phone as Ben.
Matty: Do you get called other thing? What other celebrity might you get? Just Jack.
JJ: Oh, Jack.
Peter: Just Jack from Will & Grace.
Matty: I kind of see a mix-up, a mashup. I could see Ben and Jack.
JJ: and I think that I was introduced to the concept of brunch by this group over here.
Unconfirmed speaker: Okay.
JJ: Um yeah. Talk about a lot of things. I have had so great stories uh of my few years that I've met that I've been, you know, I can't believe you remember those stories.
Matty: Well, I think he I think it's based on what we've told him happened.
JJ: Maybe, yes. But one story that I would never forget. Yes, you know what I'm coming to talk about.
Peter: Sleeping in the church.
JJ: That's the first one. Oh yeah, because I was, I mean, I was coming to the house. I used to, I I mean, I used to nap constantly, and it was like a brunch for the first time, and we would go to uh uh Enyo and we will open Enyo at 10 a.m. and we would close it at 3 p.m. for the uh all all you can drink sangria mojitos. Do you remember that? We would just take the whole bar. Yeah, and then next and all it's like I need to take a nap.
JJ: So people were saying it's like your friends are like sleeping on the church lawn. You were on the church lawn. Yeah, I sure was. Yeah. And then there was a summer and then we woke you up and went back in.
Peter: Yeah.
Matty: It's like continue. Yeah. And there was the day he ate those dirty pretzel rods. Oh, yeah.
JJ: Remember, Peter, you remember the pretzel rods? Peter would bring me the pretzel rods.
Megan: At Pronto, right? All those dirty pretzel rods that sat on the bar table. JJ would eat anything. Oh my god.
JJ: I would eat anything. Yeah.
Megan: We've talked about the pretzel rods on this pot before. So our slippers who are regular listeners know all about it. And uh to Matty's point, someone, I don't know if it was you, Matty, or someone else said, Oh, they would take those rods and lick the salt off them and then put them back in the jar.
Unconfirmed speaker: And that's what JJ would be eating.
JJ: JJ was eating them to survive. Salty rod. But some sometimes those will be.
Matty: Well, in all fairness, I wasn't much better because I got, I think it was one of the first weekends, or I don't know. Could it have been the same day? I reached my limit, and I think it was Rolando and Peter.
JJ: Rolando, one of our also very close friends, that lives now in Houston.
Matty: Yeah. I think they're like, okay, we can leave. And I'm like, great, I'm ready to go. I've had enough. And we walk out to get in the car, and next thing I know, I'm being put in the car, the doors being shut.
Peter: I wasn't there for that. Was it the summer? Oh, yes.
Matty: Okay, we just I was like, okay, well, whatever. I'm gonna take a nap. It was 95 degrees outside. I woke up and I'm like, am I alive? Am I in a coma? I was like in a sauna. Did people come in and check in? But did you once?
Unconfirmed speaker: Did you think they were gonna leave? Rolando came out once and checked on me.
Peter: And Matt walks in just screaming, You left me in the car.
Matty: I mean, I felt like one of those nightline, the nightline TV shows where like man gets you know sentenced for five years for leaving his child in the backseat of a car.
Peter: And as an adult, you got left in the car.
Matty: Oh, God.
JJ: Then there was the summer of the Lime-A-Ritas. Peter, do you remember the summer of the Lime-A-Ritas? Oh, they were the best. They were the best. And then Peter found out the best combo with the Lime-A-Ritas.
Peter: What was the best? Was the 1800 Coconut Tequila?
JJ: Oh, we will shape.
Peter: Sounds like a dream. Lime merita with the coconut. There was well, the Lime-A-Ritas weren't strong enough and they were super sweet. So to cut that, we had to add the tequila.
Megan: But that coconut tequila sounds like it would be adding sweet on sweet.
Matty: Oh, but it was just I think your tongues were numb.
JJ: Peter will make a full tub of this Lime Meritas. Yes, sweetheart. And then we will go to his patio, and next thing we know, we, and by we I mean myself, I'm eating Fritos right next to inflatable dinosaurs.
Matty: Well, you climbed over the fence and went to the neighbor's house.
JJ: I invited myself to the party.
Peter: To the party, to the Halloween party next door, yes.
JJ: Yeah. And then we all were at the party. That same night, then uh the Fritos, the Fritos decided to just like come out. They went down.
Matty: They went down and then they came back up.
Peter: You didn't, we forgot to say we went to the bar. We went to Pronto. We went to Pronto. We did. Yes.
Matty: Was I there? Was I? Yes, we did.
Peter: You were there.
Unconfirmed speaker: Were you there, Mizan? No.
Matty: See, you might have met him first, but girl, we're just we were we took him around the block.
Peter: Yes. At Pronto. We're it's very Halloween.
Matty: Little video bar in Royal Oak.
Peter: Okay.
Matty: We like to we like to We're an education pod as well.
Peter: Yeah, education, yeah.
Megan: Yeah, we need to know.
Peter: So we go to Pronto, and I'm not someone's knocking on the door of the bathroom, and I'm like, what's going on here? I gotta use the bathroom. They open the door, and there is just Frito vomit all over the bathroom floor. And I go, I know who did this.
Unconfirmed speaker: I can't believe that.
Peter: Yeah, it was. You were, you were standing on the patio.
JJ: Those were my snacks, ready to blow, to blow some more. Peter was there to protect me.
Matty: And you're like, he's with me. You know damn well, JJ, you had to be to work at 5 30 in the morning the next morning.
JJ: Yeah, shuffle some papers and then come back for the next round.
Unconfirmed speaker: Oh God. Well, Peter.
JJ: Rolando used to do the same thing. It's like, I'll come back.
Matty: Peter, I don't honestly though, I don't think you are immune to some of the things, maybe having too much sake, maybe. Oh, let's not even.
Peter: No, no. Yes.
Matty: I'll just say Saki can sneak up on you.
Peter: Well. Yes.
Matty: Um, can we maybe it's not my fault that have been. Can we maybe have you come back and tell a sake story?
Peter: Well, I don't mind the telling the sake story. It was the happy hour. Why don't you tell it? I'll tell it from my perspective. Tell it from your perspective and then we'll fill it. Ronin, which is in Royal Oak, a sushi bar. They have a had a great happy hour prior to COVID. Yeah. This is actually this area.
Megan: It was way before COVID.
Peter: So for nine dollars, you get a pint of sake. and a 16-ounce Sapporo. Well, that's like heaven. It is heaven. So drinking four of those in the matter of an hour and a half.
Megan: Exactly. And I want to interrupt Peter because we started actually that day across the street first.
Peter: Oh, we did?
Megan: For happy hour. Yeah. It was, I think that place that changes.
Matty: It was Tapas.
Megan: It was Sangria?
JJ: Sangria? Oh, I think. That day? I don't know.
Megan: Yes. We started there because they had happy hour an hour earlier than earls.
JJ: Well, that's right. We would find out. I don't remember that. I don't remember that either. But then we went to the house. We would do find out where was the earlier's happy hour, and then we'll make our route as we go.
Megan: So we started there.
Matty: The more you know, Peter, the more you know.
Megan: Then we went to Ronan.
Peter: So go on. Oh, okay. So anyway, it's Ronan, and pretty soon I'm not remembering much, and I'm being driven home.
JJ: Well, okay. You were eating the edamamis from like the neighbors. So they were nice neighbors. They gave me.
Unconfirmed speaker: I was eating the neighbor's edamame. I can't.
Peter: Enough.
Unconfirmed speaker: Well, you said it was.
Peter: No, all right. They gave it to me. I didn't grab it. I just said, are you eating that?
Matty: And then oh my god.
Peter: I'm like, oh, I'm sweating.
Matty: So Jimmy.
Peter: I know it is hot mirror. Yeah. Well.
Matty: It was you were with me, right, in Rolando when we took him home. No.
JJ: He was seven, seven, three. No, I stayed with the ladies. No, I stayed with the ladies.
Matty: Okay, so Rolando and I drove him home. And we get there and he didn't have his keys.
JJ: By the way, Rolando, if you're listening, if you want to tell your side side of the story, please.
Matty: Well, Rolando was driving. He was sober. But anyway.
JJ: We should have called him tonight.
Matty: So anyway, we we get there, and of course, Peter does not have his keys. And that's weird. And this is summertime. It is 7 p.m. But in Peter's mind, it's 2 30 one. It's night out. It was light out. You kept saying to Rolando and I, like, oh my God, did we go to after hours?
Peter: Like, oh, come on.
Matty: We were like, yes, we're dropping you off. We're because we were gonna go back to Ronan to meet up with JJ and Megan and others. And so then we're like, well, how do we get we can't bring him back? How do we get him in the house? So we start trying all the windows, and we found the kitchen window was open. So the kitchen window is a little bit higher than your average. So we had to like get him boosted up there.
Matty: He gets the window open, he crawls through, and the next thing we hear is like, oh my god, I fell in the crockpot. So his crock pot was going.
JJ: Well, those crock pots were ready for Sunday.
Matty: Hence why I asked him roast beef or pot roast or ham hocks, because he's always got a pot, he's got a crock pot going. He climbs through the window and he falls in the crock pot. And we're like scattered. We're like, I'm like, Rolana, close the window. Let's go.
Peter: That's kind of how the story went. Yes. That is.
Megan: Oh my god, it's so funny.
JJ: One of my favorites. Oh my god.
Megan: One of my favorites, too. Thank you. I appreciate it.
JJ: I love it. We'd love you, Peter.
Peter: If you want a crock pot recipe, email the show. Oh yes.
JJ: You are the crock pot queen. You like meat in general.
Matty: You like meat in general. You told us earlier today you eat a pound of meat a day. I do. I do.
Megan: Well, you need a lot of protein for muscle.
Matty: For those guns. Okay, yeah. The guns.
Megan: Well, I have a fun fact. is my one and only Finnish friend. Finnish.
Matty: He is in like from Finland.
Megan: Finland. He's 50% Finnish, and I'm and I'm 25% Finnish. And I've never known anyone who was finished. Yeah. Except my family.
JJ: I've known a few that have finished.
Megan: Oh, 100%. Until I met Peter.
JJ: And they were 100%.
Megan: And Peter, Peter has amazing skin, and fins are known to have great skin. Mine's not as good as Peter's. But you did say that your doctor's. I know. I know. I'm jealous of the 50%.
JJ: But Megan, you did say that your doctor said that your skin is like a from a 30-year-old.
Megan: Well, that was a dermatologist. Oh, dermatologist. But from a viewpoint, I feel like Peter always knows like 25% better skin. Yes. I would say. I know.
Peter: Well, the Italian and Croatian. Oh.
Megan: Well, oh, look at you. Well, let me ask you this, Peter. You probably know this, but Finland has topped the World Happiness Report rankings for the last nine consecutive years, including 2026. So do you think Finns are generally happy or simply have lower tolerance for unnecessary nonsense?
Peter: Lower tolerance for unnecessary nonsense. Exactly. And Finns are also hesitation.
Megan: And Finns are also known to be very kind of direct and to the point.
Matty: Oh, that tries to be a good thing. Oh, that tries a lot of things. Although I would have flipped it. I would have said that makes you 50%.
Megan: Well, he got the skin. I got the directness. Shadoobs.
Peter: Shadoobs. We're not even nearer. We're not even nearer. Shadoobi level.
Unconfirmed speaker: I feel like we're shadoobing. Are we shadoobing?
Peter: Oh, that's a whole different level. That's a different one. We're not there, yeah? Yeah. Shadoobi is a different podcast.
Megan: So for the listeners, though, we should just say, like, Peter created this word, Shadoobi. Or Shadoob.
Matty: Shadooby, I think. Shadoob.
JJ: Sometimes it goes into Shadoobs.
Matty: It can be used, Shadoobs. Yeah. Shadoobi. Shadoobi dude. Shadoobi. Shadom.
Peter: That was, I think.
Unconfirmed speaker: Shadom Shadon.
Matty: Shadom.
Peter: This was created on tour from a friend of mine who used to work with us a lot.
Matty: It was them and it wasn't you.
Peter: It was a male, it was a combination of an amalgamation or whatever.
Megan: The drag queen tour or another tour?
Peter: No, it was the drag queen tour. Okay of itself.
Matty: Well, we do know when we're all hanging out, when you know we all have a we all have a tell. We all have a tell. We all have a tell when we cross over. Yeah. And when soon as we're here. Oh, shadudes.
Megan: Peter can't drive home.
Unconfirmed speaker: Peter is sleeping on the cool. Uber. Ubering home.
Megan: Well, ooh. But that is, yep. know. Waymo is now officially driving.
Unconfirmed speaker: No.
Megan: No, in Detroit, but only with employees right now. Okay.
Unconfirmed speaker: Yes.
Megan: But it means it's going to open to the public very soon. We're almost there.
JJ: She's in.
Peter: I've been waiting for it. Big breath. Are you excited about that? I'm ambivalent. I really don't.
Megan: Have you taken a Waymo? Because you've been all over the country.
Peter: I've been to LA many times and we've never taken a Waymo. Okay. Wow. And I was kind of scared.
Matty: Well, do you want to come with us on the when they do it? Yeah. The minute Megan hears that it's open for available. We have a full day. Yeah. We have a full day.
Peter: Now they were saying because obviously it can only go certain areas. Yeah. You're not going to take it from Royal Oak to go down to the Well, we'll soon, but not in the very beginning. Yeah. I don't even they don't go on the it would have to go down Woodward because I don't believe they take the highway.
Megan: Oh, they're taking the highway in LA.
Matty: Oh, yeah. Oh, I think that's a good thing. Or they're highway official in uh they're gonna be on the highway. But I don't think they know what the fucks they're in for. 696 business. They are gonna be like, what?
Peter: Do I think the Waymouth's just gonna turn around square?
Megan: Our out of state listeners and out of Detroit listeners, the one of the major through fairs that you would take to get anywhere in Metro Detroit has literally had one side shut down for like a year and it's supposed to still like keep swapping sides and it's gonna be shut down for another like year or two. It's insane. So you have to reroute yourself constantly to avoid traffic, etc.
Peter: Mm-hmm. Or be as lucky as me and only drive two miles together.
Megan: Well, that's a mean thing.
Peter: There we go. I stay in my five-mile radius.
JJ: Can you imagine going for brunch in a Waymo? Yes.
Matty: I can't wait. My thing is though, you know I don't like to talk to drivers until I am tipsy. You talk to us. Well, no, I want to like what about I'm gonna get in the car like to get my safe ride home after the bar, and I wanna get it. It'll just be an AI first. I'll be like, how many Johns do you have? Like, where are you from?
JJ: I'm sure there's gonna be a camera with a little lady saying talking positive in there. Yeah. Can I have to do that?
Peter: Oh, there you go. I needed someone to talk to.
JJ: Like in a gas station.
Peter: You'll push a button and get to talk to somebody.
Matty: Yeah, true. Maybe. Yeah. Can we talk? empty? Oh, okay. Well, that's okay. I'll see. So we've been drinking um, well, JJ, you know.
JJ: We are known by our obsession with espresso martinis. We've lately we've been doing a pair of espresso martinis and espresso uh espresso martinis and french fries.
Matty: Wherever. Take a breath.
JJ: I know French fries. Um and we have, yes, you need to try it. Spresso martinis and french fries. It's cut.
Matty: Like the salty fry and then the sparso fries.
Peter: Well, that would make sense of what's coming up next. Yeah.
Megan: Absolutely. Ah, so we saw, or someone saw, I don't know who. I don't know if I'm not sure. I think Matty was the one that said it to us. He saw this guy on Instagram with the handle of traveling bartenders, and his name is Tao Zrafi. Yes. And he said he's like a master cocktailer. Yeah. Mixologist. Mixal. Mixaladist.
Unconfirmed speaker: There we go.
Megan: And so he's constantly making drinks on Instagram. And so he said the way to make a proper espresso martini is to make it with soy sauce. So we made my espresso, favorite espresso martini recipe.
Peter: I'm gonna finish.
Megan: Yep, from the doctor. And then we added soy sauce. So we've got soy sauce, espresso martini in these little cups. Oh, you finished it with the big.
JJ: Well, I just no, no, no, no. We poured it in our glasses.
Megan: Oh, okay.
Matty: I'm going to put this in here as well.
JJ: Yeah.
Matty: If you're watching, I'm pouring my ramekin. Portion. Rama lama ding dong.
JJ: Yeah. Slippers, if you're espresso martini fans, please let us know. There's a weird Oh, we're going to taste it now.
Megan: Yeah, taste it.
Matty: Huh.
JJ: I'm out.
Megan: It kind of gives you a sweetness.
Peter: It's not cold.
Matty: Yeah, I don't know.
Peter: It's a little too much soy, but I can see where it would be.
JJ: But I do have to say that there was an ingredient that he had on his recipe that was vanilla syrup. Yeah, that we didn't. Maybe that would have cut. So I think that that could be.
Peter: If you would have asked, I had that at home. Oh, you didn't?
Megan: I said, let's ask it. Megan said it. Megan said it.
Peter: Do you know I had the bottle in my hand? I'm like, I should bring this in to discuss it. Damn it. I swear to God, because I have a chocolate one too.
Megan: God. But this does have the crème de cacao in the colour.
Peter: I don't think I can have liqueur in it.
Unconfirmed speaker: I don't think I can drink a crème de cacao. Cacao?
JJ: crème de cacao. crème de cacao. You know what cacao is? Cacao. Cacao. It's powder. It's chocolate. That's chocolate, yeah.
Megan: It's like cream of cacao. Yeah, and this is a white. It's clear, so it's not dark.
Matty: This is not can you do your clucking that you do for horses?
Peter: What is but you don't cluck for a horse. What do you call it? Yes.
Matty: You to get them to come to you. It's like the it's like the drag queens.
Peter: Yeah. The Alyssa call. I can't do it. Okay.
JJ: Megan clocks and we fan. That's what we do.
Megan: This is these are Golden Girls.
Peter: Peter look at me.
Megan: Oh I got it.
Peter: There she goes.
Megan: They're so fun. If you go to Golden Girls, the show, you can pick up these fans. You have different designs, don't you, Peter?
Peter: Yeah, there's four or five different five.
Megan: Amazing.
Matty: There's five different five designs for your fans.
Megan: Do you do drag queen Christmas fans?
Matty: Yes, we do.
Megan: Do you know that?
Matty: Do you know that I'm a fan of fans? Yes. Do you know that I started a Facebook group called Fan of Fans? Uh no, I did not.
JJ: Do you know? Do you like it?
Matty: Do you know that he well the this is a fan, any fan? There were three of us in the group.
JJ: Well, I think Peter does like does know that Matt cannot sleep without a fan.
Matty: Right.
JJ: You've heard about this before, I'm sure.
Peter: I do know that, but I didn't know you actually. So he created one of my other closest friends is like a fan fanatic. Oh, well, he should come in the group. I'm gonna have to say he was just at the fan convention in Wisconsin.
Megan: Oh my god. Fan convention.
Peter: Fan convention. Oh my god. You want I'll bring you the magazines. There's full on fan magazines.
Matty: I don't need a fan magazine. I don't think that's a good one. I don't know.
Peter: It could be your new. But I can look at those blades. But I could. Oh my god, that's not a bad. It even has temperature gauges on some of these fans, man. Wow.
Matty: I will say I could be I could be a speaker at the fan convention. Okay. I don't know how much they pay, but you can't.
Peter: Well, you need to learn how to do it. It's dying in here, I guess.
Matty: I'm sorry, you guys. It's the change of the seasons. So I don't have or our hormone.
Peter: I don't have maybe.
Matty: I don't have heat on or air on.
Peter: Could you open a window?
Matty: No, not at all. No, not at the end. Not until after we stop recording. Oh, that's true. I forgot. Ah, girl. All right. Is it time?
Megan: I think it's time. It's time for a slip. We've had the best time, I'll tell you that.
Matty: Wow, this was fun.
Megan: Our slip it ins, which are things we're just loving and do you have something you want to bring into the comedy?
Peter: No, it's time. And what we always say, it's time for me and greet. Oh, yeah.
JJ: And you have not gotten your tickets yet. Oh, yeah. They should get those tickets. Uh dragfans.com.
Megan: For Drag Queen Christmas, the first show 1111. And Golden Girls The Laughs Continue. There's about 34 shows cities left. Yeah, the laugh the laughs. No, the last Golden Girls The Laughs Continue. Yes. There's about 34 cities left that they're touring before the tour ends. Check it out. GoldenGirlstour.com. You can get your drag queen Christmas tickets at dragfans.com. 39 cities across the country.
Megan: Yeah.
Peter: And the show starts in Detroit on November 11th.
Matty: Peter, and on November 11th, can you tell us where our seats are going to me?
Peter: Probably the same as last year. Oh, I love that. Those are amazing to see.
JJ: Oh, so it is time. I mean, again, we've had the best time, but it is time for some slip it ins and pull out. Slip it ins are what, Matty?
Matty: Things that we love, are obsessed with, can't get enough of. You're vibing.
JJ: Pull it out, Megan?
Megan: Those things that are just annoying you to know.
JJ: Yeah. My slip it in. I'm gonna start myself with I just finished watching Lauren Michaels' uh SNL documentary. I it was very eye-opening to me. I learned many things about him, uh, about the power that he has. And I was like actually talking to Matty about this. I think that Lauren after this documentary, I think that Lauren Michaels is what Anna Wintour is for fashion, he is for comedy.
Matty: Oh, so when JJ said that, I said, did they say that in the documentary? No, I'm like, well, good on you. Because I'm like, immediately you know what that exactly you can draw that comparison.
JJ: You can see him on the little room, taking a look at it, having like people getting to know and understand his manners and what what this piercing of his lips look feels like and sounds like. It's amazing. And if you are shortcase, isn't he like how tall? He was actually pretty hot when he was young. Really? Yes.
Matty: How tall did he stand at his height? How he's at his height.
JJ: Really?
Unconfirmed speaker: He's that short.
JJ: He's very short. He's a shorty short. I don't know. They didn't say about anything about his height.
Unconfirmed speaker: Well, Lauren might be single. I don't know.
JJ: But yeah, it was it was very good. If you haven't watched it, you should. Lorne Michaels documentary on Netflix. It's just called Lorne. Yeah. It's on Netflix.
Matty: Oh, he just he's like Cheryl.
JJ: Lorne. It's it it's a I mean, it took a little bit for him to agree to have the documentary, but he did, and I found it with it. Um I pull it out, is that we recently learned. I don't know, Peter, if you know this, but Pop's for Italian is a Ferndale um restaurant around here that we love. No longer has the happy hour that we loved.
Megan: Yeah, they ended their happy hour. It was every day.
JJ: Yes. No more.
Matty: Megan's gonna come right in and you know what Megan, you know what Megan told me.
JJ: You usually are on the news of what's happening now.
Matty: Well, I don't hang out. When this unfolded in real time, Megan said, Well, we're not gonna be able to have our pre-production meetings here any longer.
JJ: Yeah, we used to go in and just have espresso martini and fries and do pre-production there, but not anything.
Megan: It was a dream.
Matty: And she's like, we're gonna take our business elsewhere. I'm like, well, where are we gonna go?
Megan: I'm like, I'll find the happy hour for us.
Matty: Well, Capitol Grill, maybe. Well, no, it's gotta be close.
Megan: I think uh the we went there, Peter. There's a couple places Romolo Bar Romana in uh Pleasant Ridge.
Peter: They have a good happy hour, the little pizza place.
Megan: Yeah. So we may go there.
Peter: So that's my polen. Jim Brady's has a decent happy hour. Oh, I haven't gone to Jim Brady's in a long time. That's a good one.
JJ: It's many nice great stories from Jim Brady's.
Matty: I sure do. We've got a few things from there.
JJ: Or a cover pot.
Megan: So yeah, we're on the lookout. So slippers, anyone who has a good happy hour place in Metro Detroit, we want to know about it. No. Preferably with a later end time, six or seven.
Matty: Six, seven.
Megan: Yeah, six, seven.
Matty: Oh boy, wow, girls. Well, my turn. Yeah. Okay. I my my slip it in is cowboy hats. Oh, oh, that's ironic.
Peter: Last night I was at my cousin's. I my cousin's birthday was yesterday, and I they said, Oh, why don't you stop by? I'm like, okay, before I go to dinner with other friends, I'll stop by. Well, little did I know that it was a theme party. Oh, and they're standing outside with total cowgirl and cowboy outfits on.
Matty: And I'm like, What's going on? Was it a all straights at the party?
Peter: Yeah. And so they're like, Do you want to wear a hat? I'm like, no. Do you like that?
Matty: Do you like a man in a cowboy hat? I love cowboy hats. I love cowboy hats. You do too. JJ, where do you stand on it?
JJ: Six, seven.
Matty: Meh. Well, I feel like I wish I I have a cowboy hat that I had bought um when I went to Denver, I think, to our friend Christian. That might not be true. That's all I think it was Texas I got it in. It doesn't matter. But I love it and I wear it only for like costumes or themed events. But I kind of wish I had the outfits to go with it.
Peter: Gravity.
Matty: Like the confidence to just go for it. I wish it didn't have to be such a southern thing in those states. Like, why not?
Peter: There's a lot of cowboys in the state of Michigan. Yeah, there are. There is? Yeah.
Megan: There is. Okay, well, let me know.
Matty: As long as you'll say y'all boy boots, I'm fine with that. I love y'all. Yeah, I have cowboy boots. Well. Is it I have big buckles too? I have big I've got big buckles. And they don't lie.
Megan: Um, let me ask you this felt or straw?
Matty: Felt.
Unconfirmed speaker: Okay.
Matty: Felt. Straw. Straw.
JJ: Straw speaks. Strawberry. Straw hat speaks Nashville to me. Or like all inclusive in Mexican. What are you?
Megan: Clearing the air. Straw hat. What?
Unconfirmed speaker: That's straw cowboy hat. That screams girls run wild.
Peter: Are you trying to get the crump of the cornfield? A straw cowboy hat. Not a cowboy hat. That's a costume.
Matty: Okay. My pull it out. My oh well, my pull it out is giving your pet chicken feet as a treat.
Unconfirmed speaker: Oh my god. What? I can't stand Peter.
Megan: Peter makes chicken feet for his dog.
Matty: They're so healthy, aren't they? This is why I've been waiting for this because I cannot.
Peter: My dog hates it. He's got the best teeth.
Matty: I just have a problem with these a jar of chicken feet.
Peter: A jar.
Matty: They're dehydrated.
Megan: They're all dehydrated. They're not in a jar.
Matty: Well, they're in like a dog container.
Peter: Correct.
Matty: That's what I mean. I don't mean like a jar of like freshly chopped off chicken feet. I know they're dehydrated, but they're little from the HM market. Yeah. Oh yes, or I'm not coming. Costco sells for the biggest thing. You're not coming, what?
Peter: Coming for you. Oh, but I just have a Yeah, Costco used to sell the bike briefly.
Matty: I don't know. You know how you toss like a a chick uh like a dog bone? And like I've been there when like, oh here's a random chicken.
Peter: But that's for the dog. Yeah. Correct, JJ. Well, I use chicken feet also to make bone broth. Yeah.
Matty: That's in for myself.
Peter: Yeah, people do it all the time.
Matty: Have I eaten stuff from your house that has been?
Peter: No, this is more recent. You have not.
Unconfirmed speaker: Have I had marinate? Chicken feet, marinate. Oh my God. I am never gonna be able to recover. I thought they were just for the dogs. I thought they were just for the shops.
Peter: Everything I feed the dog, I can eat if I wanted to. So you the chicken feet bothers you, but the duckheads don't?
Matty: I well, you want me to say duckheads as well?
Unconfirmed speaker: I was trying to keep it. I was trying to keep it above board.
Peter: Oh God. If they sell it at the butcher, I'll take it home and feed it to the duck.
Matty: Listen, duckheads is on you. I didn't bring that to the table.
JJ: Peter, do you have it?
Peter: Have you been to the H H Mart? It's like a zoo. Oh, I went to the H Mart. I love that stuff.
Matty: Yeah, I've been HM.
Peter: There's chickens there, not chicken feet. Oh. Peter, do you have a slip it in?
Matty: Oh my God.
Peter: Right now, my slip it in is this goddamn video game called the God of War Ragnarök. I just can't stop it. I played it. Do you consider yourself a gamer? Not necessarily. God of War Ragnarök. It's several years old, but I played it years ago and then I just picked it up for some fucking reason. And now I can't put it down. What's it on?
Matty: What do you play it on?
Peter: PS4.
Matty: Oh, I thought it was a PlayStation 4. It's not on your phone.
Peter: No, I don't play it. No.
Matty: Oh, so you're like a little bit gamer. This is not a Candy Crush. No. Do you have a gamer chair?
Peter: No. I almost bought one for Menards, though. It was on a sale the other day.
Unconfirmed speaker: Menards.
Peter: It was in my car. JJ.
Matty: Menards, where you can get your chicken feet and your game chairs.
JJ: Peter, for a second I thought. For a second I thought that that was going to be your slip it in, just sales everywhere. Sale. Good sale. I love a good sale. Estate sale, garage sale, yard sale.
Peter: I have not gone a garage sale the entire summer.
Megan: Wow.
Matty: I'm I'm shocked. On purpose? Your garage thing sale. Shut it.
JJ: Do you have a pull it out?
Peter: I can't think of a pull it out because everything bothers me.
JJ: You mentioned the number of masks earlier.
Peter: Oh yeah. I was driving over here, and this guy was standing outside the library in Ferndale looked like he crawled out of a garbage can and he's wearing a he's wearing a mask and he pulls the mask off and lights a cigarette. And all of us, I wanted to pull over and be like, well, maybe he has emphysema.
Megan: Then he shouldn't be smoking.
Matty: No, he shouldn't.
Megan: Then he should have just smoked through the mask.
Peter: That would have been funnier. Smoke through the mask.
Matty: If you have emphysema, don't you wear a mask? And like you shouldn't be smoking, I get it. No.
Peter: He didn't have an oxygen tank or nothing with it.
Megan: People who are wearing masks, I assume, have COVID.
Peter: Oh, really?
Matty: Or they're shouldn't necessarily have to be able to do that. Or they're trying to avoid COVID. There are some people that are paranoid.
JJ: When I see them like with their nose still sticking out in the mask, that's not the appropriate map. Or even driving by themselves that there's nobody else.
Matty: JJ, that's my worst. When you drive next to somebody and they're alone in their car driving and they have a mask on, I'm like, oh, with the windows up.
Peter: With the windows up.
JJ: Yeah, windows up. For what? I'm out. For what? For what, man? For what? Yeah. Like Ashley Padilla would say.
Matty: For what? Is there somebody laying down in your back seat? For what?
Peter: You know what? It'd actually be kind of funny to do that just to see how many people react to you. What? Drive around with a mask on. Just go look at this asshole so mad at me.
Megan: That is so funny. Hold on.
JJ: Slip it in, Megan. Do you have one?
Megan: Yes, I have a slip on the box. Did we do it in the Waymo's?
JJ: There we go. That would be too funny. Can you imagine? No driver. We all wearing a mask.
Matty: And they're like, why do you have a mask on?
Unconfirmed speaker: I'm like, pointing, pointing to the front seat. I'm like, and they're like, no one's there.
Megan: So why? For what? For what? For what? I love it. So my slip it in is the other day, uh, Jeff Lewis had on Jeff Lewis Live some of the new Real Housewives of New York, and he was talking to them. And they were talking about how they were upset with one of the other show um cast members, that they were just gossiping. And what I loved is Jeff Lewis just goes, Well, girls and gays love to gossip. And I just love that statement, girls and gays.
Megan: Girls and gays. It's so cute because it's like my life, girls and gays. I'm the girl with all my gays.
Matty: And I just love a little gossip.
Megan: Always.
JJ: Yeah.
Megan: As you may tell from today's show.
JJ: Look at you at your table.
Megan: You're like, you're living your best life. It is my three favorite gays.
JJ: There you go.
Peter: Let's tell a story about Megan.
Megan: Only if it's good. Um and my pull it out is I am not a fan of these combo exit, on and off exit and on ramps. Sorry. An on and off ramp, basically. Or it's a combo. It's where you're you're taking the exit to get on the freeway.
Matty: At the same time, you're taking the exit to get on the free.
Megan: Sorry. You're right. I'm taking the on-ramp to get on the freeway. At the same time, I, as I'm getting on the freeway, before I can officially be on the freeway, I'm on this little road where other people on the freeway are exiting to go on the off-ramp. So you've not seen this?
Peter: Where is this occurring?
Megan: Four or five of them around town.
Matty: Girls and gays, because I am about to gossip about us..
Megan: Because I'm constantly in large.
Matty: I don't know that we're not.
Megan: I almost got run off the road by a semi.
Peter: Well, because you were going the wrong way.
Megan: No.
Peter: Obviously drinking. No. Going the wrong way. No, he was already hobby techniques.
Megan: It's in the morning, going to work. It's on my way to work.
Matty: But it does sound like you were confused on what ramp does what.
Megan: Well, no, I'm confused with what I'm saying. But I'm not confused to what I'm saying. So you get on an on-ramp to get on the freeway. You're off the on-ramp, but now you're on this little road. The little road doesn't allow you to get on the freeway.
Matty: Are you talking about the service drive?
Megan: It's not even a service drive.
Matty: No, it's just a tiny little rug.
Megan: It's a it's is it a yellow brick road? Yes. It's just a little snippet of road. It's a snippet road. It's basically part of the off-ramp and on ramp. So you are getting on at the same time someone is on the same road getting off.
Peter: Oh, I know. I get what you're saying.
Megan: Yes. And so in that moment, the people getting off kind of need to like let you over, or you have to like slow way down to let them over in front of you. Someone has to make a crisscross. Yes.
Peter: That was the one you used on 696 going west. It was when Detroit. From Coolidge trying to get on to Greenfield. There's also a M-14/275.
JJ: That used to be my playground.
Matty: What about the Davison trying to get on the lodge off of Woodward? I mean, like I know it's specific, but like you gotta move. You gotta move, girl.
JJ: I call you out. You gotta move the other day.
Megan: So anyway, yeah, I get that. A semi, a very big semi. I'm not even worried about that. That was the setup. Okay. No, a very big semi was exiting, and I'm coming on very semi. And that fucker on this.
Matty: And a tiny snippet.
Megan: He wouldn't slow down or go faster. So literally, I could go nowhere. I finally had to slam on my brakes, and he was so big that I'm just sitting there.
Matty: How big was it? Yeah.
Megan: So big.
Matty: Did you get rammed?
Megan: Almost.
