Irrational Fears & Dirty Pipes: 75 Episodes Deep

Questions or Comments: Slip It In Here!
75 episodes deep, and apparently we're still getting ourselves into some pretty messy situations.
Matty's $700 plumbing emergency kicks things off with a lesson in dirty pipes, DUDE Wipes, double flushing, and why his plumber thinks everyone should be using more water. Naturally, a conversation about household maintenance takes a few unexpected turns.
Then we're confronting our irrational fears. JJ has childhood trauma involving clowns, Matty worries that spending too long in someone's bathroom will make people think he's pooping (and he's genuinely terrified of bugs crawling into his ears), and Megan fears getting trapped in a car sinking underwater. Which fear is the most reasonable? You decide.
Dating gets complicated when Matty asks Megan and JJ for advice about a potential Hinge date. The guy seems promising, lives in Detroit's Palmer Woods neighborhood, and suggests coffee. There's just one detail missing from his dating profile that has Matty second-guessing everything.
We also reveal the winner of Oreo's 2026 Twist, Lick & Vote flavor contest, revisit some wonderfully mangled expressions, and celebrate the art of a good double entend.
Slip It Ins & Pull It Outs bring even more to the table: aggressive braking, election-season advertising overload, Werther's Original Pumpkin Spice Soft Caramels, and a bizarre incident involving a box of cockroaches at a Toledo public library. Plus, an unexpected conversation about what really happens in library bathrooms.
Seventy-five episodes, countless questionable conversations, and we're still finding new ways to slip it in.

SLIP IT IN PODCAST
Irrational Fears & Dirty Pipes: 75 Episodes Deep
Season 2, Episode 75
ABOUT THIS EPISODE
It’s Episode 75, and Matty’s washing-machine leak has become a $700 plumbing story involving a long drain run, DUDE Wipes, and a plumber’s unexpected advice to flush more often. Then the hosts compare irrational fears: JJ’s childhood fear of clowns, Matty’s anxiety about people assuming he’s pooping in their bathroom (and bugs entering his ears), and Megan’s fear of being trapped in a sinking car.
The conversation moves to Matty’s Hinge match and the question of whether to suggest coffee or drinks when someone leaves their drinking preference off their profile. There’s also an update on Oreo’s 2026 Twist, Lick, Vote contest, plus Slip It Ins and Pull It Outs about double entendres, aggressive braking, election-season advertising, Werther’s pumpkin-spice caramels, and a bizarre cockroach incident at a Toledo library.

[00:00 — Opening Teaser: Episode 75 Preview]
Unconfirmed speaker: 75 episodes deep, and we're getting our pipes cleaned. You're talking about my plumber. 100.
JJ: We also flushed out some irrational fears.
Unconfirmed speaker: Totally.
JJ: Tune in. Season two, episode 75. 75.
[00:16 — Slip It In: Opening Theme]
[Opening theme music and lyrics]
Theme: You laugh, you cringe, you'll beg for more with a guilty pleasure you can't ignore. Like a drunk text sent at 2 a.m. We slipped it in again.
[00:33 — Welcome and Episode 75]
Megan: Welcome, welcome, welcome, everyone. We're back, slipping it in with you, bringing you the unhinged brunch conversation that you just can't stop listening to, but it happens to be about nothing and everything all at once. I'm Megan, and I'm here with the scarecrow and the care bear.
JJ: I don't know. I think he's just coming from the fields of The Color Purple.
Megan: Well, when I see all this wheat coming around, it seemed very scarecrow.
JJ: I think he's just coming from the fields of The Color Purple.
Megan: Oh, wow. Okay.
Matty: Well, no, all right, care bear. Yeah.
JJ: I'm a grumpy colo uh care bear, so that tracks.
Matty: That does track.
Unconfirmed speaker: Yeah.
[01:37 — The plumbing emergency and flushing debate]
Matty: I know we've got a full list of topics we got to get into, but before we do, can I just tell you about my day today?
Megan: Yeah, I'd love to hear about it.
Matty: I was working from home. I decided to do a load of laundry, right? Like it's Friday laundry day. I go in, I do my laundry, I come up, and then when it's time to put it in the dryer, I go down, and what do I have? Water all over my basement.
Unconfirmed speaker: Ooh, that's the worst.
JJ: I've been on those days. Those are not fun.
Megan: And it wasn't raining today in Detroit for anyone who is from out of town.
Matty: Well, clearly it was from my washing machine. And I went down and I could see there was a leak springing. I was videoing it. You know, because I'm like, okay, I'm gonna have to so have someone come out. So sure enough, I do I have someone come out, Evan came out. Evan is a very nice young man.
JJ: And you were fine with that? Because usually you are not a big fan of like strangers in your house.
Matty: I agree. I'm not, but like sometimes I just have to do what I have to do because I have to get things repaired.
JJ: Our dog Henry would hate those moments.
Matty: Yeah, for sure. Henry would have hated it. Well, I didn't love it.
Megan: So he's only say he's young, but like how old are we talking?
Matty: Probably late 20s.
JJ: He was ready to clean those pipes.
Matty: You do. So here's what happened. Comes over, does his thing, and I learned that my configuration downstairs is kind of weird in terms of how they did it. And the uh pipes that go around the PVC pipes are like it's a long journey from flush to sewer system. And over a course of a long period of time, the way the configuration is, it's not set up for optimal flushing out. So he fixed my pump for the washing machine and then snaked my drain. But he also started to ask me, yeah. He asked me, he goes, So do you how many people do you live with? And I'm like, Oh, it's just me. And he goes, Oh, okay. Sounds scary. Yeah, and he's like, So you don't have a lot of water activity? I'm like, what do you mean? And he's like, Well, like when you flush, like, how often are you flushing?
JJ: And I'm like, Well I flush what your toilet? Uh huh.
Matty: Yeah, my toilet. And then he goes, like, do you ever run this faucet down here in the basement? I'm like, no, no.
JJ: Hopefully you didn't tell him about DUDE Wipes.
Matty: I did it. No more of that. If that he found paper, uh backed up paper in the drain, JJ. So no more DUDE Wipes. Yeah, that cost me $700. Well, I wish I would have known. I wish I would have remembered this because I would have asked him to pull out and see if it was uh DUDE Wipe mint chill. Mint chill, right? He's like, it smelled like sewer with a hint of mint chill.
Unconfirmed speaker: Oh, God.
Matty: But anyway, I said, you know, I don't live with anybody. And I said, he goes, Well, how often do you have guests? I mean, really, I'm like, seriously, what's going on here? And I talked about like I have two guests that come over that are part of the pod on a weekly basis.
JJ: He goes, Water Well, you told him about the podcast.
Matty: I didn't name the pod, I didn't name you guys, but I just told him, like, you guys are the only guests I have over that could increase my water flow. Flow. Flow. And he's like, tell them that water message for us. Tell them that water is your friend. And they should come into your home freewheeling with the water.
Unconfirmed speaker: I love that.
JJ: They're like, when you are this is the water girl right here. I know.
Matty: Tell them to flush twice or double flush because I have the single. He goes, No matter what if you're doing a number one or a number two, always flush with the number two or hit them both.
Megan: Oh, I didn't know what's an option.
JJ: Yes, for Matty's toilet. He has a lot of options. Yeah.
Megan: I always do the double flush, but I didn't know I could push both buttons. I didn't either.
Matty: And I've always done single flush because you know how I am about like my little part of protecting the planet. But now I've got a pipe issue that cost me $700. So now I'm like flush away.
Megan: And he's like through the environment.
Matty: Well, I mean, he was here for four hours.
JJ: Oh.
Matty: At the end, he was like, Oh, I'm so hungry. I haven't eaten all day.
Megan: And I I think he was hitting when he wanted to go to dinner.
Matty: And he said, He's like, I I usually will pick up McDonald's, but I now I'm trying to eat clean. He goes, I have chicken and rice in my truck, but I haven't eaten. I'm like, This you need to leave.
JJ: Did he bring it in?
Matty: What? No.
JJ: Oh, the rice? No.
Matty: But he was just like getting to the point. And then he even said to me at one point, Oh my god, I'm sorry. I talk way too much. And I'm like, You're fine. It's fine. Because like he's nice. And other friend that I had was like, you should have just lied to him and said you had a date to get him out. And I'm like, you know, when you encounter a nice person, it's nice.
JJ: So he's he was not pro like yellow. If it's yellow, let it mellow. No, he was like if it's brown, flush it down.
Matty: He's like, if it's yellow, flush it down. If it's brown, flush it down. I do like that little JJ. I'm with you. I would do the same.
Megan: I it annoys the fuck out of me. Honestly. I hate when I go to use the toilet and it's yellow. I don't understand. Well, I agree with you. I don't know why you're not flushing.
Matty: Well, and I also wouldn't do it if I lived with someone else in the house, regardless male or female. Like if I shared space with somebody, I would courtesy flush, pee, and poo.
JJ: So sometimes I don't, it's not just about the the environment, but sometimes it's like the flush can wake somebody up.
Megan: Well, if you live alone, who does it wake up?
JJ: Nobody. But this is a more that's why I'm saying about like if I'm with like if if I were to be at the cabin.
Unconfirmed speaker: Yes.
JJ: Sometimes I I do it, I flush it, but I'm like, oh, people are gonna wake up.
Megan: They don't. They don't, they don't, they're not. It's okay. Flush. I don't like it because uh Andy Cohen is teaching his kids yellow, let it mellow, and I don't know.
Matty: But do you understand what's behind that? It's like you don't have to flush for every single biological thing that you expend out of your body. It's not always necessary.
Megan: Well, according to Evan, it is.
Matty: Well, in my house, in my house, because of my config. So my downstairs config.
Megan: Will you change your yellow mellow practice?
Matty: Yes. My whole flush routine is gonna have to change.
JJ: If you're a good water intaker, it's not really that yellow.
Matty: Correct, JJ. That's a good point.
Megan: So well, if it's clear, then no one knows.
JJ: So like if like what we talked about last episode with Caitlin, like she had a full-on gallon of a tub that she drinks. No, this was my pulling out. That was your pulling out.
Matty: But suddenly now I'm like it was a foot in mouth.
JJ: Yeah, Caitlin is here that are hydrated that I've gotten into like the 32 ounces. Do you know what?
Matty: Really pale yellow, maybe. JJ, as you say this out loud, maybe this is karma coming to get me. Probably. Because I said don't drink all this water, and now because of this water situation of not flushing, which if you drank a lot of water, you would be flushing more. He told me I need to up my flushing daily routine.
Megan: That's so interesting. And like I've never had anyone saying because of my convec.
JJ: I think it's probably a Gen Z thing.
Megan: Well, I will say, with the TOTO toilets, it does a pre-flush. It opens, it pre-flushes, and then it flushes when you're done as well.
Matty: I could use that in my, with my new sitch.
JJ: I love the TOTO flush and blow. The blow. The blow.
Matty: Yeah.
Megan: Well, I love it all. So you like, how did you eventually get rid of him?
Matty: Well, he commented again. He's like, I'm sorry, I just I should go. I'm like, you should. It's five to six. It's like it's a Friday night, it's devil's night. I've got a podcast coming over. And he but he was here four hours.
Unconfirmed speaker: Yeah.
Megan: I can't he talked to you nonstop.
Matty: No, I mean he was downstairs. I was upstairs working, but he would come up every once in a while, and I had tasks I had to do. I had to turn the faucet on. I had to double flush. I had to come down and look at those. When you get a moment, teamwork. It was teamwork.
Megan: So was he trying to talk to you about other topics when he would come up with the stuff? Just as chicken and rice. Just as trying to eat clean.
JJ: He's trying to eat clean. That's good. Yeah. Matty, you said that we are it's devil's night, and we at the time that we're recording, it's devil's night. It is. for Halloween tomorrow.
Matty: Hence.
JJ: Um somebody's got a phone that's going on. Um the devil's texting me. Uh I don't know if I tell you guys.
Matty: Probably.
[10:50 — Halloween memories and JJ’s fear of clowns]
JJ: I I don't know if I told you guys, but growing up, I mean, we recently celebrated my birthday growing up, because my birthday falls very closely to Halloween. I had a very close aunt that she would be in charge of my birthdays. And I remembered like if it was today, that every single birthday she turned it into a Halloween party. And I all the pictures I have growing up of my birthday is me crying while they're singing happy birthday to me. Because they're all like it's all my cousins, all my family members dressed up, and I'm like, I'm like two, three years old, and I'm like, this shouldn't be. And they were scaring. It is very, it was very, very scary. Especially with my brother. My brother had a he was obsessed with clowns.
Unconfirmed speaker: Oh, really?
JJ: Yes.
Megan: That's kind of an odd thing to be obsessed with.
Matty: In what way?
JJ: My, my little sister. So his room had multiple clown pictures. Oh wow. But there was one specifically, and my sister, I know that she listens. Well, she reads in Spanish, uh, because she puts the caption on the YouTube. Um, she knows there was a specific picture of a clown on his room, and we would never go into his room. And I don't know, probably it was in purpose.
Matty: He's like, I don't want you guys, because he was like 10 years older than repellent to keep you like put it, yeah, clowns. Yeah, keeping it.
JJ: But it was so scary. And sometimes, like, I think that that created like a maybe like an irrational fear of clowns to me. They are a little, they can be very creepy at times. I had my same aunt that did the the Halloween for me. She she had a collection of arlequins. Is that the word that you say? Arlequins.
Megan: Who? Yeah. Harlequins. Harlequins.
JJ: Harlequins. Yeah. And those are also another type of not in Spanish, but that's in my hand.
Unconfirmed speaker: That's an English word.
Matty: I know meaning.
JJ: Okay, sorry. We can cut this. It's a it's a clown adjacent, I would say.
Megan: Yes. Harlequin's word. Yeah. Just like a mime. And mimes are very freaky to me.
Matty: I'm more freaked out by a mime, actually.
JJ: You are? So I'm I'm curious, do you guys have any like irrational fears? Because sometimes some people really do like clowns. There is a clown.
Matty: There's a Hulu documentary about killer clowns. It was a thing that happened like 15 years ago. We don't have to talk about it. I watched it. It was not extremely interesting, but there was this breakout of clowns. And I heard recently that the cat in the hat is there's cat in the hat appearances that are happening in uh Europe. So, I mean, they do have a stigma attached to them. And I feel like I'm okay with clowns. I don't love, I don't hate, but they don't freak me out. But I do have you asked me if I have irrational fears.
JJ: I do.
Matty: I have a couple. Yeah. Oh, can I can I give out two? Yeah, go ahead. Okay. One is kind of silly, crazy, and the other is legit fear of mine.
JJ: Well, it's something I want to stop you there because like an irrational fear is like it is real for you, but it might not land on us. Like it's just it might be something that Megan is like, well, I don't think on you guys.
[12:27 — Irrational fears: bathrooms, bugs and sinking cars]
Matty: But one is I would say silly trivial, and one is serious. But silly trivial is anytime I use a friend's bathroom, I have an irrational fear of that if I stay in there too long, they will think I'm pooping.
Megan: Well, probably because it happens a lot around your house. What do you mean? Well, someone at this table goes and disappears sometimes.
JJ: I do feel comfortable with that cute to Matty's place, and I just my stomach does know it. Like it recognizes. Well, can you do me a favor and double place before?
Matty: Can you do me a favor from now on and double flush?
JJ: I will double flush a win-win.
Matty: It's a win, it'll be a win-win.
JJ: You can do listen, I will add it to my task. I know that I cannot, I have to turn off the fan once I'm done. Oh, yeah.
Matty: Well, you're still working on that one. You're about he's about you're calling me out. Well, nobody is up at stairs.
JJ: Yeah, but he uses that bathroom and nobody every time I go upstairs, everybody knows.
Matty: Right. But if you turn the fan on and you're over on a Friday, I don't usually notice it until like it prints something on a Tuesday or Wednesday, and that fan has been going for 72 hours. Nobody needs it. Anyway, my other fear, and this is my legit one, is a bug crawling into my ear canal.
Megan: Oh, well, they say that happens. It does happen.
Matty: I've seen it does happen. Pictures and videos of that. I haven't a fear about it because when you fall asleep, you can you're not protecting those holes. Those holes are open for biz.
JJ: And those, yeah.
Matty: These two holes are open for biz in the middle of the night.
JJ: In a few other ones.
Matty: And you know that you read that like we all swallow X number of spiders in a year and we don't know it. What why are they crawling in our mouth and not on our ears? It's crazy. They're doing both. And it can drive you insane if you get like a beetle in there, yeah, or something. And I've seen it too, Megan. There's been a prisoner that complained of it, and of course, they didn't believe him, but like he won a lawsuit about it. It freaks me out, and it is a fear.
Megan: I yeah, I agree with that. I'm right there with you on that.
JJ: Yeah, and I've seen videos and pictures of like doctors taking their like box out of it.
Matty: My bra straps falling down.
Unconfirmed speaker: Oh God. The scarecrow.
Megan: I don't think he's coming from a cotton field.
Matty: For those of you that are just listening, I have overalls on and the straps keep falling down.
JJ: Well, he's just a rookie when it comes to Roberall. He needs a little bit of training of that.
Megan: For me, I think my fear that's probably irrational is I have a fear of going off the road into a body of water and then the car filling up with water. And you know there's a whole thing that you have to sit there and wait for it to fill up before you can open your door.
Matty: Or or roll the window down. Because you can't roll the window down while you're smart because it'll rush in.
Megan: Correct. So I told this to the doctor, and then he bought me that tool that you smash your.
Matty: It's like a little, yeah, a pen tool. Yeah.
Megan: So I keep it in.
JJ: Which body of water are you like driving in here?
Megan: I'm prepared. I got it. It's right in my glove compartment. It's right in my um my arm compartment. So I can easily get into it, pull it out, and smash. And I will say my fears kind of were like emboldened with last year's season finale of Grey's Anatomy because one of the adopted. Yeah, Kevin McKidd.
JJ: Is it season 20 or something? I don't know if the season. I think more than that.
Megan: But anyway, he went into the water and waited for it to submerge and he pulled out that same tool I've got.
Matty: Same. Well, that tool is now, I feel, pretty common.
Megan: Well, do you have it in your car? I sure did. Look at you.
Matty: You do have the same tool. I love it. I don't know if it's the same. Well, I think it does the same thing. With the body of water, I might have fear of the water. JJ, to Megan's point, suddenly you just don't know when you're gonna be run off the road.
JJ: Noah is coming with the ark.
Megan: JJ's car accident. You're gonna wish you had a couple under my belt.
Matty: You're gonna wish you had it when you are driving by Lake St. Clair, and you get run off the road, and you'll be like, they had a point.
Megan: We live in the Great Lakes. I know how to swim. Correct, Megan.
Matty: Thank you. We are in Michigan, by the way. I know how to swim.
Megan: It doesn't matter. You gotta get out of the car or you're gonna drown.
Matty: It's not about how good you can swim. It's about your car filling up with water. All right.
Megan: Yeah, you see how well you do.
Matty: What's your fear?
JJ: I said it, clowns. Oh, that was it. Yes. I think I mean it, I mean, it I have some fear and respect for clowns. I do think that also there is like a like nowadays in the world that we live in, if if I see a clown, I might be a little bit suspicious about it.
Matty: Oh, I'd be totally solid. Unless I'm solid.
Megan: No, unless I'm at a circus. At a circus, I'm comfortable with it.
Matty: When you say shit like that's the obvious, like I'm just saying. Of course, if you're at a circus and you see a clown.
Megan: I'm comfortable with a clown in that environment.
Matty: But if you see a clown just hanging outside of Trader Joe's.
Unconfirmed speaker: Oh, it's questionable.
JJ: Yes.
Megan: And I might be getting 911 ready to go on my phone when I see that.
JJ: Especially if they're doing the figurine, the balloon figurines.
Megan: Oh, well, I don't mind that. If they're doing balloon figurines, I'm accepting.
Matty: So many clown caveats. Yeah.
Unconfirmed speaker: No, I'm fine.
Matty: I am not, I don't have a fear of this, but I am afraid of how to this gentleman.
Megan: Oh, you know, I love it.
Matty: Switching the topic, clearly.
Megan: I know I love a gentleman. This is a dating because you're the dating expert. I am a dating expert.
Matty: And Megan, I saved this for you.
Unconfirmed speaker: Oh, god.
Matty: Oh, I'm not right here. I hi JJ, but Megan also Megan does think she's the dating expert. And I do want both of you. Okay, we'll we'll see. Because I want both of you to weigh in on this. Here is the deal.
JJ: Yeah.
[19:59 — Hinge, coffee dates and dating preferences]
Matty: You're included. Okay, this is on the hinge app. Okay. Oh, I just got back to it.
Unconfirmed speaker: Oh, I love that.
Matty: This is what happens when I try to do this with you too. You guys do so many side commentaries, it's hard for me to get through it.
Megan: That's the whole point. Do you guys want to zip it emoji? Okay. Zip.
Matty: I have not communicated with him at all at this point. I got a I liked his photo. He liked no, he liked my photo. I liked his photo. And then I got a message from him. The message says, Thank you for the like. Nice bio. Coffee question mark. Okay. Hold on. I think we've talked about this before in our stances on coffee. Immediately, what I do is I go to the profile and I start looking at his stats.
JJ: Oh, you already liked that. No? Didn't you? When you when he liked your profile, you should you don't go.
Matty: My likes are based on initial. I feel strongly of about initial attraction. I don't find it the only quality, but if I'm not attracted to them visually, it's gonna be a tough sell for me. So I need that first. And then if they were to if we were to connect, then I do a deeper dive into like, okay, what else is going on here? Okay. So age-wise, great. Where he lives, Palmer Woods.
Megan: Oh, love it. Love it. Love it. Love it.
Matty: Okay.
Megan: For anyone who's not in the Detroit area, that's like this area of Detroit that has all these beautiful old borderline mansion historic homes. Beautiful homes. Beautiful homes.
JJ: And now it's up and coming, as Jessa will say.
Megan: Oh, well, it's been up and up for years. Well, and I would say there's an occasional rundown house.
Matty: I could probably get to I don't know where he lives, but within ten. I was gonna say ten.
JJ: Oh, yeah. Which is great. Oh, five. Five, six. Like I because Rolando used to use live in that.
Matty: Okay. He does say he has children. I but I'm assuming at this point they're adult children. They're adult children. Has dog, which I love, because when they do cat, I'm allergic. Not that I have anything against cats, I'm allergic. Yeah, I'm okay.
JJ: Smoking. Usually cat lovers have a cat profile pack.
Matty: Correct. Smoking, no.
JJ: Oh great.
Matty: Marijuana, no. Great. Well.
JJ: We're open to it.
Matty: Drinking left off the profile. So here, okay.
Megan: This was the critical one I was gonna ask about too. Correct. Here's where I stand.
Matty: Here's where I stand.
Unconfirmed speaker: Yeah.
Matty: The response is do you want to get coffee? I would get coffee, but when I look at the profile, and you can check whether or not you want your drinking to be visible or not. Most everybody makes it visible and then claims yes or no, which I respect. And that's totally fine.
JJ: That it you can actually check the box if you want it to be visual. Exactly. That's what I'm saying. It if you're not going to be able to do it. He made a conscious choice to leave it off.
Matty: But I don't know why. Why not put it on and check no if you're a no? Do you think that he's doing this? This isn't my final question, but this is an iterative question. Do you think he left it off? Because in his mind, like if I leave it off, then maybe it won't be a strike against me. If in fact somebody would have an aversion to somebody that drinks, because I'm of the mindset, like I don't like you do you, and I respect and support all of it. And I once thought I could date somebody that didn't drink, but at the end of the day, I'm a social person. I socially drink. All my friends, all my besties do. We hang out, and it's just I think it I just think unnecessarily brings in a component that is hard to navigate. And so I just would say probably no to that.
JJ: I do think that his move forward before you even commented on him or message him of coffee question mark, it is attached to the drinks not being uh positioned there as a profile. Well, so because he's leading with uh if we're meeting, we're meeting for coffee, not for drinks.
Matty: Right.
JJ: So I think that there is an ad there is some but here's my thing it's like everything else I'm cool with. Yeah.
Matty: And so if I meet him for coffee, is he handsome? Yeah. I like I mean, yes, because otherwise I wouldn't have done the initial like, yeah. But if I meet him and then I find out, then I feel like, well, if I wouldn't do this up front, we could have saved time here. And Megan, there's this other component where I know you autumn you like to automatically get to whatever the face-to-face part is, whereas I like to try to, I'm not like that. And he his first message to me is coffee. And so this was on Tuesday. I haven't responded, but he's still in there and I need to respond. My ultimate question, my ultimate question is do I respond and say, sure, I'm up for coffee. Do I not respond and just let it fade away? Or do I respond and say, I'd be up for it, but can I ask you a couple questions? But then I don't also want to like come across as like it's such an important factor for me.
Megan: Yeah, this is what I think you should do.
Matty: Okay, I knew it.
Megan: I knew you'd have I think I agree with everything you said, both of you, your sentiments about the the drinking being left off. It's likely he's a non-drinker, but maybe not. I would go, I would say, yes, you meet for coffee. It's an hour, that's it. You see him in real life. You may see him in real life and immediately know there's no attraction. So who cares? Yeah, you have your coffee and you go. Yeah. Maybe you like him. Then you can talk. Maybe there's a story, there's something more going on with alcohol than you know. Maybe it won't matter. Maybe he does sometimes drink, but he doesn't want to say yes because he's not a big drinker. He doesn't want to say no because he doesn't want people to not go out with him because he doesn't drink.
Unconfirmed speaker: Right.
Megan: I mean, I would I would just do the coffee date, or you could respond if you didn't want to say just yes, you could say yes, or maybe a drink. Question mark. That might be good. That kind of puts it out there. And then he may tell you, well, I don't drink, and then you could say, I like that.
Matty: You know what worries me about your first proposal is that I do go and meet for coffee. Clearly, it's in a morning, you know, meet and greet.
Unconfirmed speaker: It could be afternoon.
Matty: Okay, or or early afternoon or whatever. But I don't do a pass three, it'll keep me up. But anyway, um, but anyway, like I don't want I don't want to leave that date still not knowing. Well, you also don't address it on the I don't think I would want to. I wouldn't want to be like I would so you so where do you stand on drinking?
JJ: That seems very no, you could just say I just so I noticed on your profile you left off the drinking.
Matty: No, that's I don't want that either. I don't want to say that. I like what you say. You don't owe him anything. He didn't want to.
Megan: I think you could say on the coffee date, so I see you live in Palmer Woods. Where do you like to go out? Oh, my favorite place to get a drink is here. What's yours?
Matty: Oh my god, she is pretty good at that.
Megan: Thank you. That is good. That is good. 100 First Dates gets you somewhere, and I know how to get to the answers I want. But I do it doesn't matter. It's still knowledge I have in the back of my hand, but I'm ready to go.
Matty: I mean, I do think both. She gave three options. Yes. Two I'm a fan of. So I give her credit. I do actually think I like I'd be up for coffee or perhaps a drink.
Unconfirmed speaker: Yeah.
Matty: That way they can, and I'm suggesting an alternative plan. And therefore, he could comment like, Well, I don't drink.
JJ: I do see that point. Do you see it? Like it's like a way of like on me. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Matty: Yeah, without that.
Megan: Well, it's also a way of like some, you know, for me, what I particularly don't like about a coffee drink.
Matty: Care bear's warm.
Megan: Yeah, care bear's warm. You could take it off. You do a little bear chest.
Matty: Maybe just take your care bear hood off.
Unconfirmed speaker: Oh, look at that.
Matty: For anyone who's watching the video, you gotta get on the video to see that. Yeah. That's an OnlyFans content. Only bears. Barely there.
Megan: Yeah. Um, I think it works well because a negative about a coffee date, to your point, is that usually it's a little bit earlier in the day. So by offering a drink option, it it's not necessarily meaning you want to go get a drink. I mean, obviously you do, but it also gets it into an evening, more of an evening type get together, which I find a little more comfortable.
JJ: I do too. I do too. I've done very seldom.
Matty: Okay. Now I'll say this. If this turns into something, he's gonna know that I brought this all up on the pod before I even met him. Okay, but I'm gonna take your advice. I'm gonna tomorrow I'm going to respond. And I'll just do it tomorrow.
JJ: Do it tonight.
Matty: Yeah. No, no, I think tomorrow. It's devil's night. Listen, exactly. Well, I shouldn't do it on...
JJ: Be mischievous about it.
Unconfirmed speaker: Zip it, zip it.
Matty: Yeah. I'm gonna whatever do you just got your pipes clean. Wow. That was funny, Jason. That was funny. That was funny. Yeah, I got the night. I just got flushed out. I'll tell you that.
Megan: So you're gonna do that or maybe a drink.
Matty: I am gonna do that, and then I will see if I get a reply. And he probably won't reply right away because I didn't reply.
Unconfirmed speaker: Yeah. unknown: Yeah. I wouldn't do that.
Matty: Six days.
JJ: I get it.
Megan: So well, I'm liking the sounds of him.
Matty: Yeah. Yeah, I do too.
Megan: So well, speaking. And you know, I usually go for your younger, and so this is a guy that's yeah, I think it's all good, which is worthwhile to even if he says he doesn't drink. I don't know, maybe you still go get that coffee.
Matty: Yeah. I'll check his house out.
Megan: TBD. Palmer Woods. I'll see what you know. I'm all about that. What about those?
Matty: I'll be like, what about a pool? He got a pool.
Unconfirmed speaker: Oh, damn.
Megan: Then he needs to be at the top of the contenders. Forget about the drinking.
Matty: If you got a pool and you don't drink, do you mind if we bring cocktails? Exactly.
JJ: I mean, sometimes some people aren't comfortable with.
Unconfirmed speaker: Yeah.
JJ: You know, I mean, we have friends.
Megan: And maybe that's why he left it off because he's totally open for drinking around.
Matty: Well, I appreciate your feedback and um I'll report back. Well, you helped the convert. You had a great point about my pipes.
Megan: Yes. Well, speaking of pipes.
Matty: Oh, speaking of pipes.
Megan: Well, I know everyone. You're waiting with bated breath to know who won. This has nothing to do with pipes.
Matty: This has nothing to do with pipes.
Megan: Licking pins and needles. Licking pipes. Pins and eats.
Matty: Licking pipes? Are you out of your mind? Go ahead. Okay, what's the licking pipes about? Licking the Oreos.
Megan: Licking pipes. Okay.
Matty: Are you saying a pipe as a phallic symbol? Yes. Oh my God. Too much. Yes. All right. We've been talking about you live in.
[31:33 — Oreo’s Twist, Lick, Vote results]
Megan: Yeah, exactly. So Oreo had the 2026 twist lick and vote contest. Lick it. And the votes had to be in by October 12th. Oreo has announced a winner.
JJ: Yeah. Did you vote?
Megan: Yeah, oh, I did. The contenders were deep fried, chicken and waffles, and banana pudding. And as you know, we tried them on the pod a couple different episodes. We all had our favorites. Who do you think won?
Matty: Tell me them.
Megan: Banana pudding. Deep fried and chicken and waffles.
Matty: Yeah, I think I would have voted my favorite was chicken and waffles. And I don't think chicken and waffles. I would think that that probably would win just because it's novel.
Megan: Yep. Banana pudding one. Yes.
Matty: Wow, the oldies, but goldies must have voted.
Megan: Banana pudding. I like the banana pudding. You didn't think it tasted very banany.
Matty: Bananiny.
Megan: Bananiny, but I thought it did.
Matty: Yeah.
Megan: My favorite was deep fried, so I'm sad that we won't get deep fried baths. So banana pudding will be returning to stores in 2027.
JJ: Love that. Wow, that was a great update.
Megan: Yeah, I knew you'd want to be hearing who won.
JJ: Yeah. We always like pins and needs about it.
Unconfirmed speaker: Well, pins and needs.
Matty: Pins and needles.
Megan: Sometimes we like to abbreviate words.
Matty: Well, yeah, but I love pins and needs.
Unconfirmed speaker: Yeah.
Matty: Just like JJ also says Nick's and dimes. Like, stop Nick and Diming me. Like Nick's and dimes. Yeah.
Megan: What was funny? We were talking uh with one of our other friends about Halloween costumes, and Matty said, Oh, you could go with a partner as Nick and Dime. And she was like, Well, I don't have a partner, so I can't.
JJ: Did you say partner?
Matty: I said two-person costume. A great what I said was a great two-person costume could be, I said purse. A two-purse costume could be Nick and Dime.
JJ: Yeah.
Matty: And she came back with a broken heart emoji. And I'm like, what is that about?
Megan: And so did I. So did I. But I said, I'm no Nick or Dime. I'm a Susan B.
Matty: Well, I didn't get that. Susan B. Anthony is like a dollar coin.
Unconfirmed speaker: Oh.
Matty: But and I also said I'm a dollar. I also said she should be the dime because at the cabin when I was cleaning up our room, I found her dimes.
JJ: And you know how I get when she brings in her Nick's and dimes.
Megan: Would you accept a Susan B. Anthony?
JJ: Yes, I will.
Megan: Okay. 100%. GTK. Although I hold my Susie B.
Matty: No one's gonna know GTK. That's internal. Good to know.
Unconfirmed speaker: Good to know GTK.
Matty: Would you learn that from me? I invented that. Really? Yes, JJ.
Megan: It's used by a lot of people.
JJ: A lot of people.
Matty: Well, God, I started it.
JJ: Look at you, a pioneer.
Unconfirmed speaker: Look at you.
JJ: Look at me. pull it out.
Matty: Wow, that flew by. We're already there.
[34:38 — Slip It Ins and Pull It Outs]
JJ: It did. It did. Okay. I'm gonna start with my slip it in. Um it's been on my list for a long time, and I think that we've used it a couple on this episode. Episode. I really love a double entend.
Matty: Double entend.
JJ: A double, I call it a double entend.
Matty: I do too.
JJ: But I just love it's I think that it probably is fascinating to me as a Spanish-speaking individual. Because I don't think that there is an equivalent of it in Spanish.
Unconfirmed speaker: Oh, really interesting.
JJ: I don't think so.
Matty: Can I ask a question?
JJ: Yeah.
Matty: If a Spanish-speaking person, or let's just say your sister, ask you to explain what a double entend is, how would you do it?
JJ: I would say that it is the same phrase or same meaning of something. You have two double meanings to something specifically that you're talking about.
Matty: And typically one is a little dirty.
JJ: It's a little dirty. Yes.
Matty: Yes.
JJ: Like you talked about your load on the washer. Oh I guess. You got your load done. And the plumber came in. So many doubles. I didn't. He finished his laundry load.
Matty: JJ, do you know what he noticed the water on the floor? But listen, I have Evan did tell me because of the pump box is smaller. is smaller. He goes, if you ever want to, if you ever wanna—double entend's coming up, JJ. He said, if you ever wanna do big loads. JJ, he said, if you ever want to do big loads.
JJ: There we go.
Matty: He's like, I can give you a price.
Megan: I can I really think you can't make this shit up. He might be your new lover.
Matty: No, me. No, he was in his 20s. Well, and he's trying to get off.
Megan: He's trying to get off the McDonald's.
JJ: But I do love me a double entend.
Megan: Oh my god, I do too.
JJ: I love it too. I love it so much. And every in Matty knows every time I have an opportunity to do that.
Matty: I think on the podcast, you are kind of well known.
JJ: Ambassador.
Matty: And I'll be like, oh, there we go. There we go. If you say the word blow or shoot or hole, chances are or pipe. Or pipe now. Well, yeah, pipe.
Megan: Well then you're getting flushed. I don't know if the pipe was around a lot. Getting sucked and licked.
[36:58 — Aggressive braking and passenger anxiety]
JJ: Oh Lord. No. My pull it out. It is to an aggressive braker. And Matty, I'm gonna put you in a spot. He's an aggressive braker. You mean in the car? In the car job?
Matty: Applying the brakes?
JJ: He lives right on the tail of the car in front of it.
Matty: I don't agree with us.
Megan: Oh, I don't mind that.
JJ: Nope. I'm sure you don't. But he is like, you know what? There's two things. He if if the car in front, if the car in front is pumping the brakes, it does not do anything to Matt.
Matty: I'm gonna just let you speak.
JJ: He just continues his speed like nobody's best.
Matty: Not true.
JJ: Until he comes in. Oh my god. And I'm like, I find myself on the passenger seat braking and braking and braking. That's like an aggressive.
Megan: I have to support Matty on this.
Matty: Oh well, thank you, Megan, because also this one is usually on his phone.
Unconfirmed speaker: Well, there you go.
Matty: Not paying like as a passenger, which is fine. Yeah. But he's not paying attention. And then I have to maneuver appropriately for the people in front of me. And then he freaks out like he's my old lady grandma.
Megan: 100% understand. I see what you're doing. I support you.
JJ: I've been with you, and you can be an aggressive braker as well.
Megan: Well, there you go. I've been with you.
Matty: I've been with you as well. And you are not great, my friend. You are not great, my friend.
JJ: I am talking about the concept of an aggressive braker. And it could be me, it could be anybody.
Matty: Look at man in the mirror.
Megan: I will say some people don't know how to drive, and they get in that fast lane and they're driving way below the speed limit and they're braking constantly. Those are the aggressive brakers, not the one behind.
Matty: All right. I'm at a moment's notice. I'm ready to veer. I'm ready to veer off to the side into the rumble strips.
JJ: Rumble strips. Rumble strip is another pull it out. Oh. Yeah.
Unconfirmed speaker: Well, I support it.
Matty: It's you support a rumble strip.
Megan: It's to like wake the driver up or to let you know you're in sketchy territory.
Matty: Yeah, I support that as well.
Unconfirmed speaker: All right.
[39:20 — Election-season ads and canvassers]
Matty: That's it. Should I go? I'm gonna go because I don't want to end the episode on mine. political podcast. However, we are nationally what's today? Friday? Saturday, Sunday, Monday. We are four days away from the election. My God, with the ads. The the like I don't care who this is not about politics in terms of Democrats, Republicans. It is in terms of how much is being spent on all efforts. And I can't. The messages I'm getting on my phone, and I got one from um Ice-T today. And I'm getting the phone calls, and I know I'm not alone in this. And I had two canvases yesterday, and I had two canvases. You might like this vegan. So I had a canvasser today. I was Evan was here. The plumber. Of course, he was here all day. He was at the top of the stairs talking to me.
JJ: Handling the pipes and all that.
Matty: He was at the top of the stairs talking to me, and I saw two canvassers coming up my front steps because my front window is open. Yeah. And I'm like, Evan. I didn't call him by name. But I I said, Oh my god, there's canvasers here. Just be quiet for a second. And he goes, he looked at me, he goes, I'm just gonna go downstairs.
Megan: And so I thank God they saved you from Evan.
Matty: And I was on I was on duty. I'm like, I'm gonna go flush twice. Because he asked me to go fly. So yeah, the canvassers and the ads that ads on TV.
JJ: So it's a pull it out. You're in a pull it out moment.
Matty: The slip it in is that we're five days away. The pull it out is that I got four to go. So it is both.
JJ: I get that. Yeah.
Matty: Because I but my other pull it out is once we get over this hurdle, then we're like starting to creep towards we're over the 50% mark to the general presidential election, and it won't be long before the ads start kicking up again.
JJ: Yeah, but it's 100%.
Matty: And it's just sad that we spend so much money in. And you know, I will say this for anyone that doesn't know, you guys probably know. These ads, they don't even by law have to be truthful. You can say that's true anything you want on them. Yeah. And so it's like, why are we doing this? Why? Why for what? Yeah, $3.2 billion on ads? It's crazy. For what?
JJ: I do have to say with that, thank you, Matty, for your slipping in and simple outs, but no vote is a vote. So if I agree, it's a choice to by the time that this uh episode drops, it's past voting day. It will be one day passed. At one day passed, but I hope that you did, uh, because we are very critical times and you should let your voice be heard.
[42:14 — Werther’s pumpkin-spice caramels]
Megan: A hundred percent. Well, with that, I'm gonna get to something a little more fun. That's why I didn't want to go last. Typically, I am very, very anti-pumpkin spice anything. I don't talked about this. I'm not a big pumpkin spice. Yeah, I'm not I don't like pumpkin spice of anything.
Matty: But there's a K and pumpkin. Yeah, it's not pumpkin.
Megan: Sorry. I have now found something I like, pumpkin spice, that is better than the original.
Matty: Okay, and I've been the original what?
Megan: The doctor came home. These Werther's Original Soft Caramels, yeah, pumpkin spice. And I'm like, uh, I'm not gonna like me a soft caramel though. Well, let me tell you, they were so good. We've gone and bought multiple bags. Wow, and then I said, Well, I've got to do a comparison with the original Werther's soft caramels regular flavor. And let me tell you, tell me, I like the pumpkin spice better. Yes, I was shocked, I couldn't believe it.
Matty: I think my dad loves these too.
Megan: Ugh, it was a whole new world. So I ask anyone, go find them. They're limited edition.
JJ: Did you stock up on them and buy a bunch?
Megan: Uh this is our last bag. So I'm gonna we're gonna look for more. Yeah. So I'm gonna get the bunk if the bunk box of this.
Matty: The bunk. Oh, the bunker where they hoard stuff in case there's an apocalypse.
Megan: So um while you're trying those, you can tell me what you think.
Matty: This is original.
Megan: You did original first. Okay.
Matty: What is this?
Megan: Uh that is the pumpkin spice. See, it's very cool.
JJ: Oh, it's oh, I get it. Pumpkin spice first.
Megan: Yeah, okay. Yeah. Oh, I'm getting that. See, it doesn't, it's not that pro it's just a hint. It's not a lot of pumpkin and it's not a lot of cinnamon or mump nutmeg. It's just like a little gives you a little more oomph to the caramel.
JJ: Leave some for Evan.
[44:25 — Toledo library cockroach incident]
Megan: Oh yeah. We know he's coming back later. Oh, he dies. Well, my pull it out is this situation that happened to this poor librarian in Toledo this week. Did you see it? I did not. It's from October 27th.
Matty: But I do love a library.
Megan: It was at the Kent Branch of the Toledo Lucas County Public Library. And Toledo's a short drive from Detroit. Anyway, a patron at the library got into a confrontation with the library employee when staff noticed cockroaches crawling out of a box in this patron's belongings. They asked this person to take their belongings outside. And instead of just complying, the person went crazy, turned around, turned that box of cockroaches into a weapon, and threw it at the librarian.
Matty: Wait a minute.
Megan: He brought a box of cockroaches into the yes, like it was in his bag or something. And they saw cockroaches crawling out of it. So they said, take it outside. He flipped out, took the whole box of cockroaches, which how does he even have them? Threw them at the librarian. It was all caught on surveillance video. Anyway, the cockroaches went everywhere through the library. The library had to shut down, had to get an exterminator in, and they were shut down for a day. The library did reopen the next day, but this person is still out there. They have not caught him. So I don't know. That is a pull.
JJ: Could you imagine Toledo?
Megan: Being at your job and getting a box of cockroaches on you.
Matty: Can you imagine?
Megan: Like I do not like cockroaches.
Matty: This is the first I've ever heard of anyone carrying around a box of cockroaches. Regardless of your location. What was his intent?
Megan: No one knows because he's not been found.
Matty: Oh, he hasn't been found.
Megan: Correct. He ran off after he threw his box.
Matty: This is like the butt sniffer.
Unconfirmed speaker: Yeah.
Matty: Uh that was showing up at sniffing people's butts in the bookstores.
Megan: A lot of craziness happens around books. When I was uh at Michigan State, I think you're on to something. Yeah, when I was at Michigan State, we had a masturbator in the library.
Matty: Well, you know, okay, good point. Do you want to expand on that?
Megan: Well, no, there was just we can't there was articles constantly of the masturbator. He never got caught, but we would cut out the articles and post them on our bulletin board.
Matty: Oh, I love a bulletin board.
Megan: So we were monitoring and we would try to set ourselves up to catch them.
JJ: We would go see the masturbation.
Megan: We go to like the high floors, we go to like kind of more remote areas, whole.
Matty: Kind of masturbate worthy.
Megan: Yeah, we but he never came around because we were hoping to catch him.
Matty: He didn't come around. No, he didn't. But um, I've heard that library bathrooms are a huge Home Depot bathrooms in library bathrooms. Oh, I've never known that.
Unconfirmed speaker: Interesting.
Matty: Yeah, yeah. Oh yeah. GTK. It just depends on if you're looking for a fixer upper or somebody that's into, like, if you're into wood, aisle seven. Oh my God, I cannot.
Megan: I think with that until next time.
Unconfirmed speaker: so soon?
[47:43 — Episode 75 wrap-up]
Matty: Well, happy 75th, you guys.
